  1. how cute is that, looks like a big bambi type chihuahua https://www.google.com.au/search?q=bambi+type+chihuahua&client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjVw62ZsKnQAhWBHZQKHRV-CTwQsAQIHg&biw=1920&bih=971#imgdii=TGudzSUQ4WgU3M%3A%3BTGudzSUQ4WgU3M%3A%3BbFATbYm9Blvx2M%3A&imgrc=TGudzSUQ4WgU3M%3A check out this link. my favorites are 1, 5, 14, 20 and 21, although 37 might be a ring in as a litter mate for yours. a few ring ins though 15 is too domey to classify as bambi type, as for 23 hilarous somehow I dont think a wolfhound look qualifies, 24 head too domed, 25 hilarious just to mention a few The wolfoundish dog. My vet refers to him as a little deer. :D I didn't realise they were a specific type, the last I read about Bambi or deer type Chihuahuas was pedigree breeders saying that they weren't true Chihuahuas and not to be fooled! It seems this isn't the case and they've always been around but just weren't chosen for the standard? I actually prefer to the look so would probably only ever have a rescue Chihuahua type dog. I wonder if both types are accepted elsewhere in the world, do you know? Or is this something that shouldn't be discussed on a purebred dog site.
  2. Just because. :D Little deer checking out reindeer last Christmas.
  3. Paws Dog Training and K9 Nose Fun invite puppies under 8 months old to Come'n'Try K9 Nose Work® at Richmond on 27 November. See details in the attached post. Only a couple of vacancies left. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1557658087809577/permalink/1819159898326060/
  4. The problem is that somtimes the bond doesn't cover the damage done by humans or animals and it leaves the landlord considerable out of pocket. True, in which case your landlords insurance kicks in. Still sucks though. Anyway back to Akitas. With a shortage of pet friendly rentals I think tenants with dogs would most likely be super careful with the place, but suitability is important. I hope you find a great tenant soon, westiemum.
  5. Not a real estate agent but I would assume anything would be covered by the usual bond. Damage is damage whether done by an adult, a child or a dog...
  6. I thought they came in two sizes, one around 60 cm / 3 squeakers, the other 1m / 6 squeakers? Measurements seem to vary depending on where I look. I am leaning towards a beach toy though.
  7. I read it that way too, Lhok! If it weren't so serious and troubling I'd find it funny. I read all the 'thanks for your time' comments as dripping in sarcasm too.
  8. Food gifts! Last year we got Malcolm a whole dried salmon head. Broke it into small pieces for training. It was simultaneously the most disgusting and amazing gift ever.
  9. Haha I was thinking of one of those giant invincible snakes. I can picture him dragging the thing all over the place. Lately he's been selecting toys to accompany him when he does his business, apparently needs a friend for company. I'm sure everyday is Christmas for Scotty boy.
  10. OMG why do I not know about these!! Guess what else my two will be getting!! (And a snuffle mat, I forgot that on my first reply) I think I've only seen them for sale at that particular store. Love that I'm enabling the purchase of food dispensing / environment enrichment toys. :D
  11. I don't buy pigs ears but Petbarn is usually quite expensive. Might be worthwhile price checking elsewhere. They do price match with certain conditions though.
  12. Oh that sounds amazing! A Christmas present for you both! Malcolm has a couple of Christmas-themed Nosework events to attend. I can't wait. He will be so happy. :D
  13. Hadn't heard of Trektons! They look like fun. Malcolm used to be soooo selective with toys, he was even afraid of Kongs! The Busy Buddy Barnacle was his gateway into the world of treat/food dispensing toys. It took a couple of months to desensitize him to it and build his confidence as he was scared of the rubbery type material. Nosework helped a lot too. Now he bats it around! When he got the hang of the Barnacle he became interested in a puppy Kong I had laying around as he now associated the material with food. Happy days! What type of toys do the Cavs like, Denali? I think the Barnacle was such a hit with Mal as he likes balls that bounce erratically (Planet Dog orbees are his fave). I came across Kyjen bottle babies recently, a food dispensing toy for soft toy lovers!
  14. Ok so our tree isn't up yet and truth be told we have to hide Malcolm's presents out of sight/smell anyway. He always works out which are his and freezes in front of them waiting for permission to unwrap them, or swans about below if they're up high! That said, I'm starting to organise gifts for the pups in my life and am very excited. Can you tell?! Malcolm is getting a Kyjen Wobblerz which is a less-threatening version of a Kong Wobbler. It will still require some confidence building and teaching, but that's always a good thing! He'll also get treats of some description. Malcolm's Gotcha Day is also coming up on the 2nd Jan so I have that to think about too. I'm hoping to finally finish his Snuffle Mat and decide on patches for his Nosework harness (ok that's more a gift for myself but it'll be cute!). :) This year I also have my parents' Toy Poodle Hamilton to buy for! I haven't worked his out yet. I was originally thinking a Hide a Squirrel or Kyjen Egg Baby, but he loves the beach and is soon to go camping in QLD so I think a floating toy would be good, bonus points if it squeaks! Ideas are welcome. What do you have planned for the dog/s in your life?
  15. What lovely things to see SG & Thistle! We are going ahead with Malcolm's SABS appointment as Clonidine didn't help / seemed to make him worse. Initially I thought it was helping but it seems it was just side effects preventing some behaviours. However we had another reactive dog session yesterday and I was so pleased with how he went! He was thinking about things and made some great choices. At one point he even looked like he wanted to greet the other dog which is an extraordinarily rare behaviour. He walked closer and decided it was too much, but the desire seemed to be there! Now I just need to nail my handling skills.
  16. Ugh, it can be really complicated and ambiguous with some dogs. He might find chasing them helps him resolve whatever he's feeling inside. He might recognise the activity as a safe outlet because the bigger dogs are ignoring him. He may indeed feel more in control, and he might be feeling like he's successfully driving them off. My Erik loves to chase other dogs and can get intense, but it seems like a good outlet for him to cut loose. He is often more relaxed after a good crazy run. He used to chase our retriever friends, who don't mind much as long as he doesn't get near their things. Now he has Kestrel and he plays rowdy chase games with her. Yes those things sound possible too! I find it interesting to think about what drives different behaviours in animals and how they may feel. ????
  17. Lack of dignity? In the other clip I've seen online, they had the dog continue to walk around with its poo strapped to it. Who here would like to walk around in soiled pants with poo bouncing around? Would having to do that every time you eliminated make you start to fear toileting when out, then maybe even going out at all? I feel like even if desensitization is done it's still inherently aversive... I DO appreciate where you're coming from Perse and imagine in that situation it would have hopefully been done in a better fashion, e.g. put on, command dog, then immediately remove.
  18. I can imagine this causing dogs to develop anxieties about toileting. ????
  19. Whatever he is, he's going to be huge! He already looks big to me (ok, I've only ever had toy breeds lol  ) and look at those paws! I automatically want to saw there's some wolfhound in there but that's based mainly on the scruffiness and maybe a bit of his head shape and I'm probably wrong. Big dogs aren't my thing.
  20. I was a bit disappointed in the Dogs Vic presentation based on the slides. Seemed lackluster.
  21. This sounds like Malcolm and his compulsive delight in herding ?? German Shepherds. Not that he was actually herding them, they were playing fetch and returning of their own accord, but he was very reactive to their movement and I suspect he thought he was controlling it. I stopped it as though he seemed to find it a lot of fun it had that compulsive edge, and while the Shepherds didn't care (too interested in their tennis balls) I doubt others appreciated Mal's barking. It was different to his other reactivity with movement as he did seem to find it a lot of fun as mentioned. It was a game to him. Other movement makes him anxious and he's not having fun, but with this he'd give a great chase while barking then trot back looking like he had a feeling of accomplishment (I'm trying not to anthropomorphise but the kid was happy and somewhat puffed up) and get ready to go again. Here's an old pic of him getting ready to fly into action.
  22. What an amazing enriched environment for a puppy, Roova! You are a rockstar!
