  1. Bump My parents are looking for groomer recommendations in the Sutherland Shire or St George area for their toy poodle. They didn't like Dog Wash Cafe. Their current groomer has had to shut up shop due to illness.
  2. LOL I was waiting for an Orvis comment.
  3. You might like to do a bit of this with her: :) PS we need photos!
  4. You could try dried fish treats. They are stinky! Dogs love stinky. e.g. something like this http://www.allfishfordogs.com.au/fish-pellets.html Otherwise esky by the door?
  5. I think it may have been Roova? ???? ETA I found it! Check out the General Dog Discussion forum. :) "New Puppy When Adults Are Working?"
  6. A new puppy, how exciting! It's my understanding that dogs have to be restrained in a car, but they don't specify how? So it could be a harness or a carrier or a crate. Either way you don't want your dog becoming a projectile. I personally would always go with something crash tested but with a puppy with a lot of growing to do that's a bit harder. Are you crate training? An airline crate may be a good option though you then need to worry about how to secure it. Crash-tested harnesses that I know of: Kurgo (two options) Sleepypod click-it Petlife Roadie My dog travels in a sleepypod (crash tested carrier that doubles as a bed) but he's little.
  7. Oh wow would you look at that, she looks like a police or army dog! Love that it has a GoPro mount LOL. Nice work!
  8. There are two alternatives should you be interested: The first is having a worm farm dedicated to dog poo. It has to be dedicated to poo as worms prefer it over any other matter, so if if you add fruit or veg it will rot and cause issues. The second is that you can add poo to a compost heap. Anything organic can go into a compost bin. It may be best to add it in the center of your pile / addition where it's more anaerobic and will break down faster and not smell. With both of these you have to withhold from adding poo to the farm or heap a week or two after worming your dog/s as the residual worming treatment will kill the worms you want to keep alive! Secondly you must ONLY use the worm castings or compost from these systems on non-edible plants. ETA I perhaps should have added that we haven't tried any of the above or the septic system. I'm currently using flushable poop bags. They are non toxic and dissolve in water.
  9. Haha awesome, and yes that would definitely be us! Rosie was so excited when I said we were going, LOL. We're not exactly local, we travel, but it's worth it! :D Moving on up to Intro to Odour in the new year. Your Chi will have so much fun! :D Malcolm was hilarious with the outdoor search. He got so revved up he refused to properly toilet, them couldn't resist going three times during the search. ???? But of course didn't want to stop did he, so on one of his breaks he broke into the hall by pushing the chair aside and slipping through the cracked door, then completely flattened himself on the floor refusing to leave. Oh and in the indoor search he twice jumped up on one of the camping beds sending it skidding along the floor like he was surfing on it, and he didn't care whatsoever as he was at Nosework! That sort of thing would make him bolt and cower elsewhere. I think I've worked out his harness patches. One side Malcolm, the other side Workaholic. :D
  10. *sobs* nooo LOL I will report back! With photos where possible!
  11. Little one at his Nosework Christmas Party. He looks so concerned, LOL. Anyone else going to the K9 Nose Time Sniff 'n' Go on Sunday?
  12. Yeah they couldn't feel Hamilton's either due to its location. The vet said it's usually somewhat around where it should be or in the groin so it's easier to feel. Third place to look is the abdomen. Took quite a search during the op!
  13. My parents' new pup had a retained testicle. He's just been neutered at 7mths. It was discovered hidden in muscle all the way up in his abdomen. His breeder and the breeder who used to own his dam said to desex at 6mths if it didn't come down, but my parents were away at the time. Their puppy also had some baby teeth pulled that were starting to affect his bite. With his jaw still developing the associated adult adult teeth can now move into their proper position. So that's another thing to consider. Can the vet feel it anywhere? Often they can feel a hard lump under the skin. If it's where it should be you may feel confident waiting a bit longer. I was told by someone else that they had a puppy's come down sometime between 7-9mths.
  14. My mum briefly had this idea of seeing if she could get a Papillon x Poodle until I told her in no uncertain terms that this would NOT be happening!!!
  15. Thanks but this is really expensive, the batch one i picked up from amazon for this price incl delivery was 180g. This is 40g. Whoa!
  16. I've got Tuna & Sardine Crack baking in the oven for Mal. Oh my dog it reeks. I could handle the salmon but this is really something. Best Nosework treat ever but boy am I glad it makes a huge batch for tiny dog! If you want to make this stuff maybe start out with salmon.
  17. I guess different species metabolise things differently .... Just to throw another spanner in the works, our VB mentioned that small dogs tend to metabolise some types of medication differently to larger dogs. I think it was faster. (Malcolm as he's wont to do seems to operate in the reverse.) Anyway, hope you work out a solution Gretel!
  18. Even more confusing! It seems it's not just calculated on weight. :)
  19. I know that looks to be a wide safety margin, but am I the only one who thinks it's weird that it's not written per kg?
  20. https://www.budgetpetproducts.com.au/m/product/plaque-off-for-dogs-green-40gm-healthier-teeth-and-gums/2495/ It's also at vet n pet direct but more expensive. You'd have to factor in shipping though.
