  1. Yeah they are extremely flexible. They can fold their head back to touch their back and their front legs can go out to the sides at 90 degree angles (like human arms). Neck: http://www.gluck.net/nln/images/neck.jpg Arms: http://www.gluck.net/nln/images/skadie90arms.jpg
  2. IS this the one who is the Puffin hunting dog???? I remember seeing something about them. Yep, that's the one.
  3. I would LOVE a pyr... One day... One day...
  4. NSW Gazette not one until Feb. :D Yeah, I was a bit sad about that too! Oh well, there's a fair few between now and then though. I just feel bad for the Victorians who don't have any! TerraNik I did not think there was in in NSW until just before Christmas?? ;) ;) We have to get 64 points in before Wil succumbs. Mind you the way she races around she is like a puppy. There's a few in the Sydney area before XMAS, these are the ones I have entered: SUN 14th Nov - Campbelltown SAT - 27th NOV Hills District SUN - 5th DEC - Ladies KC SAT 18th DEC - DOGS NSW There were 3 shows at Hillsborough - 15-17 October. As well as those listed by GW there's also... 3 shows at Hillsborough this weekend (Fri/Sat). In ACT there's 3 shows on 20-21 November. There's also 3 at Walcha on 10-12 December.
  5. Thanks - that was one of my shots from the Shell's wedding shoot with Jed and Soaks. Can't wait to see everyone else's photos!
  6. Jedi "Tell me when summer's over" "Read me a bedtime story please!" Group Shot - Ahsoka, Jedi, Honorary Spitz Abby, Fable & Zero Jedi & Ahsoka raiding the fridge

    High 10

I taught Hi-10 by asking for a Hi-5 higher and higher off the ground so he had to get onto his hind legs. Then I would just hold both hands out and mark when I had contact with both paws.
  8. The majority of those incense ones look fabricated.
  9. NSW Gazette not one until Feb.  Yeah, I was a bit sad about that too! Oh well, there's a fair few between now and then though. I just feel bad for the Victorians who don't have any!
  10. You're probably best asking this in the photography section... I don't think I've tried enough lenses to tell you what 'the best' is in Canon's range, but my personal preferences are my 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8 for portraits.
  11. Usually in that instance they are comparing their dog to mine, usually with a similar line to, 'wow, you must have done SO much training with him/her'! My usual response is to tell them that it just takes 5-minute daily training sessions with a reward that the dog really likes and to be really consistent and make training fun for the dog. I tell them that if they are interested I can refer them to an Obedience club or if they aren't interested in a club, I offer to give them to a few YouTube usernames with how-to videos. Beyond that, there's really not much else I feel I can offer them without spending lots and lots of time.
  12. My dogs do tricks together... the most popular is Ahsoka telling Jedi to shut up
  13. It is an exercise that is supposed to teach the dog self-control and to create a default 'leave it' with food. So essentially holding food out for the dog in a fist, as soon as the dog stops going for it or looks away you reward them. It goes completely against my training methods where I actively build drive for food and want the dogs to launch towards it. (On a side note, my dogs are extremely well behaved around plated food and I can leave my dinner on the coffee table which is at nose/mouth height for them and they won't touch it, so it's not like they have no food manners!). It just frustrates me that someone thought they had a right to make a judgement on my dog's behaviour and try to "train" her out of it!
  14. UGH! I've had someone try to 'train' one of my dogs when she jumped up for the treat the person was trying to give them and then proceeded to try and do the Doggy Zen game with her, essentially trying to undo the training I had done with her to actually jump up FOR her rewards! I was mortified! I would never do that to someone else's dog unless they had asked me to train their dog. Erny has another good point - my boy who is allergic to chicken has been fed chicken or chicken-based treats WAY too many times for me to remember before I even had a chance to ask what they were doing or what they were about to feed him! Meanwhile, back on point - I usually refer them on to an Obedience club if they are wanting help with lots of issues or basic training. If it's something really quick, I don't mind giving them some tips and then refering them on to a club. Like Vickie, if it's something to do with behavioural issues like aggression, I ALWAYS refer them to a behaviourist.
  15. You don't need to be the owner of a dog to show it... Just a member of DogsNSW.
  16. Tiles and carpet... But the tiles are now covered in strips of carpet because the dogs were slipping too often. If I could choose we'd have non-slip tiles.
  17. Congrats on some great results, AD!! Div 3 is VERYYY different to Div 1 I quite enjoy Division 2 & 3 - it's a little more relaxing
  18. It just usually means you can observe, but not bring any dogs to do any of the work.
