  1. I haven't travelled the areas you plan to go but I did drive from Perth to Lake Argyle, with my last dog...had an absolute ball :D This book Holidaying with Dogs was really helpful in the planning of my trip. Another site which is for camping is handy too OZ camps When I wanted to go to places where dog's weren't allowed I put him in at local vets, where there were groomers, for the day. He got pampered and it was much cheaper than kennels.
  2. I have often wondered this, I have never actually seen any signs saying no swimming, but of course most places dogs must be on lead. So does that mean it's OK for dogs to go in the water on lead? There are quite a few "dog exercise areas" along the Shelley foreshore, with openings into the river, but I'm not sure how clean the water is? (as in whether there is trunks and shells etc) Another nice little beach in North Fremantle, east side of the bridges, at Gilbert Fraser Reserve, is usually quiet.
  3. I read the FB post a couple of days ago, and thought the exact same thing....very sad lesson They now have a FB page set up, to keep people updated Justice for PEPPA
  4. She is also very close to Balcatta Veterinary Hospital, on Erindale Road, which is one of the very few 24hr vets here in Perth! I have had to go there a few times after hours and found all the staff to be very good :) Just in case she is not aware yet, the other 2 24hr vets are PERTH VET EMERGENCY, in Yokine, which also isn't too far from Trigg and Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre
  5. It's about 20 minutes north of Trigg, but Ocean Keys Veterinary Hospital is really good. Adrian, the head vet and owner, is fantastic :)
  6. I have just bought a 10 meter(33 foot) long line from K9Pro Syn Tek Long Lines Very happy with it
  7. Depending on how strong the gate is, could you put something on the bottom but have it hinged? That way when you open the gate you lift up and secure the barrier, so you can then open the gate. Of course the hinges would need to be on the inside so your pup couldn't open it! Hope that makes sense :)
  8. My guys get Canidae: Grain Free Pure Sea which is very high in Omega 6 & 3 Fatty Acids & DHA Canidae have 4 grain free varieties Canidae: Grain Free There is a few stockists in SA(Adelaide) and a few places online with very cheap delivery...around $5 from memory :)
  9. Petbarn online is saying they are in stock.....and 20% off ends today! Venison ears
  10. I haven't heard of topdogminders before, but have heard of(though not used) http://www.allpethousesitters.net.au/ I currently get a vet nurse to house sit for me when we travel, works great as she knows both dogs well and if any medications are needed I'm confident she's experienced enough to not mess it up! Maybe you friend could visit all the local vets and see if any of the nurses would like to help out? There are a couple of kennels that I have used that I highly recommend, both have quite a number of grassed runs, and the dogs spend a fair bit of time outside(weather permitting of course) Merrybark Kennels 22 Fraser Rd Canning Vale WA 6155‎ (08) 9455 2786 Natural Paws 209 Cormorant Court Southern River WA 6110 (08) 9398 4616 Another I used quite a few years ago, and was very happy with, was Danzalin
  11. Maybe have a read of this Training A Puppy To Walk On A Leash I don't agree with corrections on such a young puppy either....make it fun and lots of praise when he gets it right :)
  12. I have bought roo tails in the past, about 6 per bag, and have left in the fridge over night so only very slightly defrosted and just enough that I can pry them apart to bag up and refreeze. Same with the chicken mince, just enough so I can get my knife through it to repack into smaller portions. Both would be considered still frozen I think. A big sharp knife should do the trick :D
  13. All I can really suggest is have a look around The American Staffordshire Terrier Club of NSW and maybe contact some of the breeders listed on there, or even email someone on the committee with any questions you have. Also as already suggested go to some shows and chat with the people there. It would probably also help in you would consider a different colour. When the breeder I got my 2 from had litters she asked my PREFERRED colour, which was obviously blue :D , I also told her other colours that I liked, eg red & blue fawn. I was lucky that Electra was born and available to me, but would have been just as happy with any pup from her.
  14. Hi M United :) Like you I really fell in love with the blue colour, I did lots of internet snooping before choosing a breeder...forums, websites, google etc Unfortunately since I got my guys nearly 4 years ago the blues have become extremely popular and there is plenty of "registered" breeders just pumping out blues with no concern for health, conformation/breed standard etc. As Staffyluv suggests go to a show and chat with breeders, and remember you can always buy interstate and get the pup flown to you :D OH and don't be fooled into thinking that blue should cost more! Anyone can learn to show :) though I haven't I notice you are in WA. There is a lady that does show training at the canine centre info here The Amstaff club also used to have a training night there, but it's not listed in that pdf but is still listed on the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of Western Australia
  15. Another vote for sugar soap, but if that doesn't work ammonia will get any thing of glass! Just make sure if you do use ammonia to do it in a well ventilated spot, as it is very pungent.
  16. I got mine off ebay, as it seemed everyone else was having supply issues Deer Antler Chew Toy Treat for Large Dogs Tough Chewers
  17. I don't understand your comment "Different breeds" when in the ANCK breed extension(from the link you posted) it says
  18. Hi ann21, The vet at Animal Medical Centre (VET@RV) Pte Ltd seems like a great vet and is interested in Internal Medicine, Microbiology and Complementary Holistic care. Here is a list of other vets, from the Singapore Veterinary Association :D
  19. When one of mine had a bad case of gastro, my vet suggested mixing a low salt chicken stock cube with about 2 ltrs of water and syringing aprox 50mls every hour. If she struggled to hold that down, less more often.
  20. I bought a couple of xxl(48") crates from vebopet, the price was much cheaper than I could find locally, even with delivery. They have these crates on special at the moment for $124.99.....they are very good quality too :D http://shop.vebopet.com.au/store/xxlarge-48-collapsible-metal-pet-dog-cage-crate.html
  21. My guys had the same vaccine. Their breeder vaccinated at 6/7weeks and my vet at 10/11 weeks with Nobivac DHP & KC, then 12 months later. Now it's every 3 years for the DHP....but yearly for the KC :)
  22. There was a thread about it, a couple of months ago, with comments/opinions http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/242159-vip-natures-goodness-grainfree-dryfood/ :)
  23. Sorry I can't help with anything local, but Vebopet sell a couple of cages that might be suitable, for a reasonable price http://shop.vebopet.com.au/store/twin-compartment-dog-crate-with-wheels-large.html http://shop.vebopet.com.au/store/metal-tube-dog-crate-with-wheels-large-dog.html
  24. I had a phone consult with her about a year ago. Everything Aidan2 says, plus she was extremely friendly and easy to talk too :) I have also emailed her a few times(though not recently) and she was very quick to reply with her advice.
