I would expect a higher standard of care in a "dog centred industry". Look at the outrage (and rightly so) expressed in thread at the terrible death of poor Buddy at the grooming salon due to the negligence of the grooming salon. Yet here in this thread, there appears to be more sympathy for the carer than the poor dog. Really this cannot be compared to what happened to Buddy, he was deliberately left on that grooming table and the groomer walked away knowing he was there and surely knowing what could happen to him!

People who deserve the contempt, rage and anger are people like drunk drivers who drive their cars through a bedroom where a beautiful 8 month old baby boy sleeps. He was buried this week. now that's something to get up in arms about. Not taking away the fact this poor Dog has lost her life but the handler at the time didn't mean for it to happen.

Willow my heart goes out to your friend, what a horrible thing to have to endure for the rest of her life. Purely and simply accidents happen and that's what this was he didn't mean to leave the dog in the car, he didn't do it on purpose so it was an accident. I guess I could understand the hate in this thread if he had left the dog in the car deliberately like many do, I see it all the time, but he didn't do it on purpose!

I just read that piece about forgotten baby syndrome, just so heartbreaking for all the families involved and to think it can happen to anyone. As one woman said she had heard of it happening and thought there was no way that would ever happen to her and it did. This is an interesting thread to read, in a perfect world none of these horrendous things would happen. Pity we don't live in a perfect world.

It can happen so easily, people have things on their minds and CAN just forget. I was with my mum one day we were driving to town to my sisters (20 Mins away) for some reason (i forget why now) we had to take two cars and Cooper went with mum and the other three came with me. I got to my sisters first and mum about 5 mins later. She came inside and we were just chatting and I looked out and expected Coop to be at the door with the others and I said to mum wheres Coop and she just turned and bolted outside, I knew she had forgotten about him. It was stinking hot and he was fine, just sitting there waiting for someone to get him out. But mum was beside herself, she just beat herself up something shocking. I did not hold it against her, she had so much on her mind, she was caring for her dying husband and was under a lot of stress and added to the fact that Cooper is not demanding and has been taught if in the car he has to wait to be asked to get out instead of rushing out. Mum just got out and went inside not giving him another thought, also she was not used to having a dog in the car with her. It can happen so easily. I can say i have never forgotten mine, kinda hard with 4. Hate taking them in the car on really hot days anyway. We were just lucky that day that I am vigilant and always like to be able to see what my guys are up to especially if we are away from home. I do think however that after a time if Coop had been forgotten for longer he might have started to carry on and bark whine etc. RIP beautiful Colette, what a dreadful way for her life to be ended. I feel for the person responsible as it would be very hard to live with.

A Shocking Example Of "training"
tlc replied to Lollipup's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
What a bunch of tossers the whole lot of them, if the people teaching their dogs haven't even got enough brain power to know that what they were doing to their dog was seriously wrong the world has gone mad, and as for the trainer! I hate watching things like that makes me even more aware of how many idiots we have walking the streets!! -
Snap Showdog, we must have been posting at the same time! :)

I have used eagle pack in the past but found it hard to get on occasion which was a pain. I swapped to Nutro which is Australian made, it was god too but eventually settled on Black Hawk. There is lot of debate about dry foods, you can only go by trial and error, try your pup on it and see how he goes. I agree with HDW I have never fed anything out of a can. Raw meaty bones chicken wings, carcasses, necks etc are best. Be guided by your breeder, what is puppy being fed before he comes home to you, if you are changing it do it slowly, big changes for a new pup leaving his fur family and going to live with new owners. Oh and welcome to DOL.
