  1. Just curious, what do you guys consider a "professional" photographer? One who makes a living from it?
  2. It's such a subjective profession too, to those who are professional, quite often I look at pros photography and think meh and don't like anything about it. And similarly look at amateur stuff and think it's fabulous. It's all a matter of taste in a lot of cases. I looked at some pics my 10 year old nephew took recently and thought this boy has potential. At the start of each show they show a selection of photos from each person and I thought the lady who's photo won, her photos were really just family snaps. Yet the guys photos looked quite ok and yet he was so out of his element on the mountain. It's great hearing what others think especially with a show like this where it really is just run of the mill everyday people having a go.
  3. Good, I'm glad we got it right, we had narrowed it down to that one! Has he got it up yet? How's everyone enjoying the cold weather? I actually don't mind it when it's not raining. Dogs are quite enjoying being snuggled up inside too. Been a bit cold at Bunnings but that's to be expected.
  4. I always condition my guys, I use dog shampoo but human conditioner, never had any problems.
  5. At the very least the lady at the top of the mountain could have had her lens hood on! I think the 5D is weather resistant but I still found myself wishing she would hide it under her jumper when she wasnt shooting! she must have been freezing.
  6. Salukibel, Bella still as gorgeous as ever! J&Ds Mum, lovely shots, I especially love the first one, so cute! M&Ds Mum, great shots, especially the one of Juddys first race, he looks so determined! Do you just race your whippets for fun? or are they pros? (hope thats not a stupid question?)
  7. Great shots everyone, 26/52 another of Lacy in the red chair!
  8. Is this the only place you carry him? It could be that he knows he is going to the bath as he doesn't like it? Is it possible that he is sore anywhere? although if this was the case he would do it getting out of the tub too. Id say he is just pre emptying his bath and letting you know he is not happy. How often do you carry him other places? Perhaps get into the habit of picking him up occasionally so he never knows when it is bath time. I could be totally barking up the wrong tree, lets see what others say?!
  9. Ah yes just found THIS one! It definatley does look like Lacy!
  10. I had a google and all I could come up with was THIS book, Was that it? Maybe there is one with a different cover?
  11. Jo do you use content aware fill much? I have never used it but watched a couple of tutorials and it looks amazing!
  12. Content aware fill in PS would work perfectly on the blobs.
  13. Fantastic, they all look like they are having blast!!
  14. No comments on CC (does that stand for constructive criticism or have I got that wrong?) Just wanted to say they all look fantastic!!
  15. It is a great program and once use to it, it is easy. One thing I can't get to work though is the posting to Facebook or flickr, I set it up but it keep coming up with an error? So then I have to export the pics in a smaller size so i can upload them that way. I always keep a copy of the pics I import to lightroom as well. Not sure if this is the right thing to do but I do it anyway! :)
  16. Thanks, I had a little shoot with the boys today as it is the annual take your dog to work day, and obviously I can't  As my bad luck would have it, I have a afternoon shift today I never usually do them but i had to change with the other girl who does them as she is away, its going to be freezing but I know I have to just suck it up. Its only 5 hours between 4 and 9! Brrrrrr. Glad to hear your doing well Tanya, not long to go now!
  17. Thats aweful, I would have thought you would have read and signed a contract before the money changed hands? Do you know if she is even registered?
  18. I really feel for you, its a terrible situation to be in, you are already ended to the pup and to think this "person" and I use that term lightly she sounds like a horrible person will have the pup its is just heartbreaking. Hopefully the pup will get better and you can put it all behind you. I guess it depends how much you are willing to fight, do you have a copy of your contract? It should state about the dogs health etc and with your vets support you should be able to recoup your money, or at least some of it. Probably depends on whats in the contract. You did the right thing going to a registered breeder but its hard to tell if they are ethical, theres a lot about who aren't!!
  19. I agree with HD, You would have signed a contract yea? What a terrible situation to be in. What an awful breeder to deal with, surely she would realise you are going to tell anyone you can of your bad experience with her as the pups breeder. Is she listed here on DOL?
  20. Yea I thought the same, I thnk she must have shot that shot before it cleared a bit because I'm sure she was in a similar spot when she said she could see the town beyond the mountain, I kept trying to look thought the fog. It was a mysterious photo in the end.
  21. I just finished watching it, so glad that lady won she did a good job considering she had never used an slr before, she didn't even know how to review the photos. When the guy was piling the rocks up I just thought what the  he was so out of his usual element, he was lucky when that waterfall came along! Anyone else watch this week?
  22. Well hasn't the weather been bloody awful, but Im not complaining too much because I prefer it rather than the heat! On Monday after that massive downpour I was wishing I wasn't at work as there was an awesome rainbow and some wicked sky, I had to make do with the iPhone! Pity the building was in the way! (no edit, right off the camera!) Whats everyone been up too? Keeping warm I hope!!
  23. It sounds like you will have nothing to worry about at all. Look forward to pics, and welcome to DOL. :)
  24. Its sounds like your boy is pretty cruisy, you haven't mentioned if he has had a lot of time around other dogs/puppies? With introducing all of mine when they were tiny pups, I always did it on neutral territory, not sure if this makes a difference but I never has any trouble with any of my initial meetings, they all just fitted in with each other. Mine were all very used to young puppies from our interaction with obedience school so I think this helped. Mine always had a safe place to retreat to if need be, to sleep or rest in peace away from the other dogs. With regards to feeding, I have always feed mine together but with their bowls far enough away from each other so they feel comfotable that their food is their own, but even now I still supervise every feed, in that I am in the general area. With mine If there is a disagreement between dogs it is always over food. With regard to play, I supervised mine and if I thought the play got too rough for pup I would intervene but this only happened very rarley, with my second pup, I had to intervene to stop the pup (female) being too rough with the older dog (male) Enjoy your new little bundle they don't stay puppies for long enough. Photos?
  25. A stiff one Sheena!! For the OP, it can be confusing getting the right mix of food for your dogs especially if you have a dog/dogs with issues skin or otherwise. I feed mine Black Hawk and they are all good on it, it is a premium kibble without the premium price tag. What ever you feed, give it a good chance to do its job unless of course there is a noticeable downward turn in your dogs health and allergy issues. In general terms I don't think one two or even three weeks is enough time for a dog to get used to a new food.
