  1. I'd say that if you bought your dog at a "discounted" fee and the agreement (written or verbal) was for the breeder to be able to use him at stud whenever they wanted to, then you are bound by that agreement... It sucks, but that's what you agreed to when you handed over the money and took him home. T.
  2. Blood test? Hugs to you WM... and soft cuddles for the wee man... T.
  3. LOL - was going to say that too, but then I remember someone (ummm, me ??  ) in the beginning, way back when. Me too... for my first 3 or 4 actually... lol! It certainly does come easier once you have a little practice at it, yes? T.
  4. Why would anyone other than a tradie WANT to take their dog to Bunnings anyways? Seems kinda silly to me... T.
  5. Definitely get the book - she's really quick in sending it once you've paid - it's got everything that you'll ever need to know in order to have a good experience with fostering. So much info that you may not have thought of... an excellent resource IMHO... T.
  6. Your first foster can be the hardest... you are so wanting to do everything "right" and find them the perfect home... but don't overthink it... You know that you've done a great job of selecting their new family when the "ungrateful" foster doesn't even look back at you as they are driving away... *grin* As others have said, make sure both you and the rescue involved have similar expectations of who does what, who pays for what, and that you have backup if things aren't working out. This is paramount! Also... there is no shame in you ending up adopting a "foster failure"... this is a good outcome too, OK? (I have 2 myself) T.
  7. I think next photo will require reindeer horns...lol! T.
  8. The most important thing is to have a document setting out what you expect of the Rescuer and what the Rescuer expects of you. If they say they are too busy or give any other excuses not to have it all in writing, don’t touch them. Expect to fall in love with most of your fosters, not all, but most LOL. Remember, it is a partnership: yes, they have rescued the dog and spent all the money. However, you are one getting to know the dog and a rescuer should be confident enough to accept your input, particularly if you think a proposed home is not suitable for the dog you are fostering. A DOLer has written a book on fostering, but I don’t know whether she still comes onto the forum. I’ll check. Here's a link to where you can buy the foster manual... well worth every penny and more... http://www.fostermanual.com/ T.
  9. Awww... Pudden! He's so adorable! T.
  10. My first thought is knee issues... either luxating patella, or maybe even a cruciate strain/tear? Did it come on after some strenuous play, or has it come on slowly? Her reluctance to get up quickly, favouring that leg, and the stretching mean that she really needs to see a vet and have some xrays done at the very least. You are right to keep her quiet until you have an official diagnosis. T.
  11. Biggest hugs to you and the crew WM... T.
  12. Love the crosseyes... lol! Love you Pudden! T.
  13. Speshul dogs are actually not too bad to have about, and they do learn to cope properly in their own way and their own time... trust me, I've got one too! I'm a bit in love with Pudden though... he looks like he's going to be a big floppy doofus dog when he finally grows up. Smoke and Don will teach him the right things to do when Mum calls soon enough... What does Trouble think of the little ones? T.
  14. Need photos of the piggy back... lol! T.
  15. I love photos of the Boss with the dogs... there's just that something about how they all seem to adore him... he must be a pretty awesome fellow... ... and Pudden... *sigh* T.
  16. Fetching Dogs? http://www.fetchingdogs.com.au/contactus/ - no number advertised T.
  17. Do you think she may be picking up on your being down lately with everything that's been going on with family and such? T.
  18. Aww Pudden... you be so handsome... even when tired! Merle is rather striking with the odd eyes... T.
  19. I think I'd need a picture of that as I can't quite visualise it. I got it fom a thread here some years ago... they posted a picture, but I can't find the thread... grrr! T.
