  1. He's attracted to whatever perfume she's wearing... I had a male Rottie that would only look at a bitch in heat if I washed her in a particular doggy shampoo... truly weird! T.
  2. When I had 5 Rotties, the local postie used to stop his bike and come and feed then Schmackos through the gate... the barks mine used to make when he was coming were very excited and happy ones... lol! I applaud the postie who saved the dog, and sincerely hope that the owners of said dog come to the party to cover his medical costs, and give him a huge thank you for saving their pet from what could have been a slow and painful death. T.
  3. ... and that is why I'm somewhat sour on them... too much "discretion" when it suits them, and not enough when it should be applied... and no-one to be answerable to... *sigh* T.
  4. Is Judy able to pay the costs within 3 months, or does she need some help? Have they given back her dogs? T.
  5. Well there goes any reason to develop purebreds in the first place. Its the fact that selective breeding increases the likelihood of traits that led to breed development. People got tired of taking pot luck on traits they wanted in dogs and wanted to improve the odds of getting what they wanted. Those who choose purebred pets today are using the same logic. If you don't care what size, coat, temperament and activity level you get in a dog, then you're far less choosy than most. Ummm... can I clarify MY statement about judging individual dogs on their merits? With a pure bred dog from a great breeder who specifically breeds for certain conformation and some inheritable temperament traits, one is more likely to end up with a dog that is more predictable with regards to physical and temperamental traits. That's a given, and I will never dispute that... ... however, with crossbred dogs of unknown lineage - I prefer to judge the individual dog in front of me instead of generalising about particular breed mixes... T.
  6. Apparently there are some nice waterfalls near the mountains - I must ask my friend where she took her really nice photos of same. And we really need to get down to that spot I told you about on the way past Cobbity (the one on the corner) - that would take some amazing photos at sunset... I'd really like to take Trouble down to Vale of Ah and swim her there - I reckon she'd take some great water shots... T.
  7. From my experience, a large number of people who impulse buy that cute (crossbreed/mongrel) pup from a petshop usually haven't really done much research into what they really want from their pet. Add that to possible physical or mental issues due to the "breeding" of said pup, then less than perfect upbringing (like lack of proper socialisation), and you could well have a recipe for disaster. I've met quite a few really nice little fluffy crosses since becoming involved in rescue... and have met some really not so nice ones at dog parks with their "devoted and loving" owners. There really is no generalisation that can be made about a crossbred dog - it's too much of a lottery based on breeding and environmental issue IMHO. Personally - I prefer to judge each dog individually on it's merits... T.
  8. You got rooly noice photos that day lillypilly... wasn't it fun taking them though... I think we both learned a few new tricks that day... T.
  9. After the rain, we drove around the local area (rural) and got some nice shots of some cows... anyone like cow pics? T.
  10. What were the stools like? Any blood or a really awful sickening smell to them (Parvo poo has a distinctive smell to it). T.
  11. Dylan can have my birthday date if he likes... March 25th... shared with Aretha Franklin and Elton John, if the singing thing is any omen... lol! T.
  12. Shmooshies galore!! Awesome!! T.
  13. Probably taking tips in seduction from Miss Myrtie... *grin* I'm betting that Jeune got that tummy scratch she was asking for... lol! T.
  14. Me too... :D ... so did I - 6 nominations in fact... T.
  15. If I flap them, do you think I will fly? Stop pointing that thing at me Ummm... a little less bottom burping please! I'm flying!! Look how far I can turn my head I'm here under duress... but I'm getting a cuddle, so it's OK T.
  16. Run free sweet Sophie... Moselle... Sophie will never truly die - she will always live on in your heart and memories. I lost my heart dog back in 2004, and in all honestly, the pain never truly goes away - but we cope with it a little better every day that goes by. Reading your original post had me with tears streaming down my cheeks and remembering having to say goodbye to my beloved Woosie. That was probably one of the most traumatic days of my entire life - a little piece of my soul went off to the Bridge with Woosie - as I'm sure you sent a piece of yours off with Sophie. Rest easy knowing that Sophie has good company at the Bridge while she waits until the day you can join her again. T.
  17. Or you can set a tap or hose to drip somewhere where there is halfway decent light... T.
  18. If you can meet the pups yourself, and the breeder allows you to choose the pup you want, the following method is to one I use... Sit down on the ground near the puppies and let them do what pups do. After a while, one or more will come and snuggle in your lap. Select the one that falls asleep in your lap. T.
  19. I'm actually fairly chuffed with these photos. I even took the camera off auto focus and did it manually... definitely out of my comfort zone there... *grin* T.
  20. Last Saturday it rained some, so my friend lillypilly pulled out her camera and started snapping away trying to catch the dropets hitting the puddles near us... here are my attempts... Trust me - catching these was a LOT harder than you'd think... took over 1000 shots for a handful of ones that were timed right... next time I'll even try to centre them better... hehe! T.
  21. This one ain't a dog... but it's definitely doing zoomies... T.
  22. Haha - KC doesn't seem to slow crazy puppies down one little bit. Occasionally they will stop, have a hacking coughing fit, spit up some phlegm, then continue playing like nothing has happened... Having had quite a few rescue fosters, you tend to know what to look for in case the cough develops into something that requires more attention... *grin* If your older dog is otherwise pretty fit and healthy, then if he does have KC, he should still be ok. just watch to see if he is coughing up coloured phlegm - if it's yellow or green, get him some AB's - if it's white or clear, then just treat him for the sore throat with Benadryl or Active Manuka Honey... One of my babies had a long coughing fit last night, so I gave her some normal honey, and that seemed to stop it in it's tracks for a while... now she wants more of the sweet stuff... T.
  23. I don't mind if someone takes a photo of me and/or my dogs, but if they have the intention of posting it all over the internet, or to sell for use in some way, then I'd prefer them asking my permission to do so. I have some great photos taken during the Youth Day/Week thing in Sydney a couple of years ago, but I've not posted them anywhere due to them clearly showing people's faces and I never asked permission to post them in a public place. I also have photos of people at a dog park interacting with mine and their own dogs - I won't post those publically either. T.
