  1. Wolfgirl, can you remember where you got your harnesses from? They were from a pet shop in the city, they are made by Sporn and called Sports Harnesses. Back again WG - there are no sports harnesses on the Sporn page that I can find. Could yours be Black Dog perhaps?

  3. Quite a few people have recommended adding Ester C to my dog's diet to help with his arthritis. Any ideas on the dosage? (We are talking about 30kg of GSD here) And where is the best place to buy this from? (He is already on JointGuard)
  4. Maybe Juice's dog walking service needs to be changed to Juice's swimming service. What we need is a little wagon that Oz and Jatz can pull. Then Coda and Sasha can be taken down to the lake for their swimming exercise. And then Oz and Jatz can pull them home again. That way, everyone gets a good dose of exercise!
  5. And how much bone is left behind? My two like chewing them, but they don't totally demolish them like they do other bones.

    Angus

So sorry to hear Angus lost his fight. Hugs to you.
  7. And be sure to take plenty of photos of your pets. My dog lives on anti-inflammatories and he is only 3. The vets tell me they are much safer than they used to be.
  8. No dog is ever too old, it just may take a little longer to get results with an older dog who may have things he needs to "unlearn" first
  9. Another star in heaven - rest in peace Sophie. She will never be far away from you, Anne. May you find comfort in all your wonderful memories of the times you shared together.
  10. Do you think that will have the same effect as the Umbrella Effect? (you know - if you are carrying an umbrella it won't rain, but if you don't have an umbrella it will pour)
  11. Yes you can prevote. Car pooling sounds like a great idea as parking is a bit squeezey at Steve's place. Quickasyoucan, did you sort something out so you're not having to do so much driving?
  12. Harness turned up in time for the weekend, and it seems to have worked well. The difference with the harness is that she is further in front than when I had the walky dog clipped to her collar. She seems to prefer to run level with the front wheel. did you find she pulls more with the harness on than with a collar kamuzz? She has more influence on the bike on a harness - if she gets distracted by something in the flowerbed say, and pulls left I feel it more. I think she pulled forward more with a collar than she does with a harness. Because in the harness she lines up against the wheel it may be easier for her to pace herself.

  14. They are easy to distract - just post a photo or two or three of your GSD.
  15. Pop into the GSD thread and ask in there, but be warned - once you've got in you may never get out again.
  16. K9: Spot on... There is no better advise than what Wobbly has written... Nice to see you remembered it exactly as I prescribed it & its working for you! Don't you love it when your students pay attention! Would you expect to progress from play on leash to play off leash in time?
  17. Is your dog a girl? In some photos, that last strap looks like it might be a bit ouchy for a boy :D
  18. Jatz tends to let go as soon as the other dog "squeaks", and looks a bit surprised. But then she will pounce again ....
  19. We have one of these on order: http://www.callicoma.com.au/leads1.htm#harnesses Might be worth calling Mandy?
  20. My GSD girl will be three at Christmas. We have a GSD boy as well, and until recently there has usually been one foster dog too. From a succession of big, boofy fosters Jatz has learnt to play rough. Now when she is with another dog, she seems to have forgotten how to play nicely. Her favourite trick at the moment is to "pin" the other dog down across the back of the neck. We recently had a beagle as a foster. She would "pin" him, he would squeal, she would let go, they would continue in a romp, she would pin him - continue in a loop .... How do you persuade your dog to play gently? My dogs regularly meet other dogs while out on their walks, and Jatz is always eager to play. She makes other dogs "nervous" because she is so rough. I've never seen another dog trying to "tell her off" and I'm not sure what her reaction would be.
  21. What makes that a limited slip rather than a martingale? Not sure I understand the distinction.
  22. Thanks Guys - looks like I should be able to hitch a ride with someone. ;) Akitaowner, would you please PM me the payment details.
  23. Hi Team, it would be good if I could come. Is there anyone that I could hitch a ride with? Living in Glenwood (next to Old Windsor Road) I'm hoping that someone will be driving past us to get to Steve's.
