  1. Yup we have 2 of the XL crates and it fits my big boy just fine with enough room to be comfy (my older boy is 34kgs & 68cm at the shoulder so a big GSP .... your girl should end up smaller than he is though so the XL should be a fine size .... in fact when we first got the crate I crawled inside it and could fit myself quite well (and I'm not a small person) - I wouldn't want to sleep in there but the XL is recommended for a Golden and the dimensions are 102 (L) x 69 (w) x 69 (h) - why don't you ask the seller what she thinks? I'm sure she'll be able to tell you which size would be best I posted earlier that I don't believe in buying different sized crates for a growing dog - I just divide off the bigger crate until they need that space - saves money ..... I have my 10 week old puppy in an XL crate at the moment - he's only 7.5kg and we just divided his crate in halves for him at this time .....
  2. Best quality crates we found Metal Crate - Vebo Pet Supplies (yes they are also on Ebay but I found it was cheaper to buy off their website than on Ebay) http://www.vebopet.com.au/ Soft Crate - this is the only seller I would buy a softcrate off http://cgi.ebay.com.au/K9-XLARGE-ROYALE2-S...=item3a567dc9fc ... the quality is superb, price is great and shipping is fast (I have 2 and the oldest one survived a growing GSP and still looks perfect - the newest one is handling a growing 10 week old GSP just fine with absolutely no issues) ... added bonus is that the seller is a DOL'er and she's lovely and very very happy to answer all kinds of questions and give support where needed .....
  3. I do Iridology on human patients as part of a herbal consultation but animals don't have the same kinds of iris and markings humans have - never heard of anyone practicing canine iridology in Australia either - where did you get your dog done at? Oh and it is also (more generally) pronounced Iri-dol-ogy in Australia .... Thanks for the heads up on the pronouncination. I saw a greyhound guy in Victoria who isn't qualified in this particular field but beleives he has self taught himself in dogs iridology. He has been practising for 20 years as a chiropractor/health consultant for greyhounds. He was well recieved by the greyhound community. Shall put his diagnoses to the test Monday! wow sounds interesting .... my teacher always said it wasn't impossible to do it on animals just that no-one had mapped it out like they have done with the humans ..... please update the thread or send me a Pm on Monday after the test I'm quite interested in knowing more if you don't mind .....

  5. We look at all names ... German names are a bonus but not specifically required for the GSP's - I wanted a name that could be said in 3 ways (a long 3 syllable name, a short single syllable name and one that could be a "y" at the end - this is what we have with Mortimer, Mort & Morty already so we chose Archibald, Arch & Archie) ..... Yeah Lincoln is an old English name - according to Google it apparently means "the settlement near the lake or pool"
  6. you want enough room for the dog to stand up, turn around and lie down flat .... for a Frenchie that would be I'd imagine the 76cm one although going bigger to 92cm can't hurt ... just gives them more room ....... are you getting a wire or a softcrate? .... if you are purchasing it online most places will list the breeds of dogs that it is most suitable for ... also remember as a pup they don't need access to the whole inside of the crate, you can buy dividers (if it is a wire crate) or create your own using old bedding etc (if it is a softcrate) to limit their access to the front section only .... I personally don't see the point of buying 2 different sizes to me it would be a waste of money - my boys are in their own XL K9 soft crates - one is 9 weeks old the other is 19mths old difference is that the 19mth old has the full interior of the crate to sleep in and the 9week old only has the front section
  7. Hey Keyarna - make sure you head over to the GSP thread .... there are a couple of us who have just gotten our new pup's home (my 9 week old boy only came home a week ago) ... so a few of us will be going through the growing pains together (thankfully I have an older GSP to help out though) ... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&start=7935
  8. today's photo (I missed yesterday didn't get the camera out at all) Punk Archie
  9. oh what terrible news ... I am so very very sorry to read this ... Rocco was one of the first dogs I "knew" here on DOL through his and Ralph's thread... he will be greatly missed by many ... Condolences to his family and cuddles to little Ralph ....
  10. I watched a Mal run through the ring at the Obedience trial in Newcastle 2 weekends ago and he was stunning to watch! I am pretty sure it was the Open Ring too ... I spoke to his owner for a while after his run and he was saying that he had trialed Mals and Turvs both in Agility and Obedience (and showing) and had been doing so for a number of years... he was really passionate about the breed and very upfront as to their challenges but to watch this Mal work the ring was stunning - he was 150% there the entire time ... twas lovely to watch
  11. glad to hear that sammy cos we love vizslas here and might consider one for retirement cos OH had ridgies when he was younger and he likes the look of the vizslas...kinda mellowed out ridgie froma distance lol no major issues here with my GSP either - just have to approach training a bit differently than with other breeds - they are supposed to be trained to work with people ... my boy will be starting trialing in Obedience this year and he's fine off lead (recall wise) .....
  12. Group shot for the day so 2/52 for Archie & 4/52 for Morty Backseat Brothers
  13. My shot for the day edited to upload smaller version of photo
  14. Well I have GSP baby cuddles if anyone wants them - we will be coming to the Maitland show for a look and to get him used to the atmosphere so we'll be wandering around on the Sat in Feb Not sure when his first show will be as it needs to be localish for his breeder (who's in Sydney) to come up so Medowie may be too far away ... she's going to come up for the first show and show me what to do and enter along side us ... so maybe the next Hillsborough one after the 23rd Feb might be the one we are at ..... Need to remember to buy a lead/chain when we go to Maitland too!
  15. My version of the Jelly Slice recipe everyone is trying in Off Topic for today's photo - complete with tooth marks from the taster
  16. Well Archie is here (finally) .... his breeder showed me on the weekend how to stack and what collar/lead she uses for her dogs so I need to do a spot of shopping I think..... the gorgeous little boy is currently doing puppy zoomies up and down my hallway ..... Not sure when our first show will be - he is 3 mths on the 23rd February but it will be a local show ..... better start looking at the show calender hey!
  17. you can cut the chicken frame in half if you needed to (I have GSP's so he eats a whole one) ... a lot of the frame is softer bone, cartilage and membrane so it seems to be chewy more than crunchy (well thats the noises that come from my back room)
  18. what about a chicken frame? takes him a bit to get through, teeth and mouth get a good work out and its large enough he can't swallow it whole? My 19mth old boy eats a chicken frame every night just about ... loves them - we freeze ours and he gets it frozen - increases the time it takes for him to eat it so he has to work at it for longer
  19. wow they are great everyone - love the Goldie ... the moon is divine too! Here is mine for the day - we're a little pre-occupied with the puppy at the moment .....
  20. Brilliant - thanks I did do a google search before posting here and this site came up at the time but cause the website isn't a .au I ignored it thinking it was an overseas one - woops! .... anyway - thanks again!
  21. I need to buy a few DVD's and am looking at Susan Garrett ones (Crate Training & 2x2 weaving - we have a new puppy and an 19mth old who's starting agility this year) .... Is there a good Australian website that you can buy them off rather than the overseas ones? Thanks
  22. Ok week 3 for Morty some weird angles ......
