  1. No help from me either but just wanted to say he is adorable May I also suggest that you add the information about all the discussions you've had with his breeder about this - as from your other posts it sounds like the breeder is a wonderful responsible breeder who has been equally devastated by this diagnosis - just so people don't get the wrong idea about you being sold a pup with this condition Good luck with him he really is very very cute!
  2. clicker training won't affect any show training littlehoot - clicker training is just using a noise (clicker) to mark a behaviour that you want - you then reinforce with a reward ... you don't need to use a clicker but can use a word (such as good or ok) ... clickers are the tools not the method ..... everyone's puppies are very very cute ... our little boy is almost 14 weeks old and I can't believe how quickly time as flown by .... and they grow like weeds once you get them home so remember to stop gazing at them long enough to take a tonne of photos as they literally grow overnight
  3. so sad ..... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=189770&hl=
  4. Can I add 1 medium & 2 larges to that order please
  5. Nice to meet you the other evening...sorry that you weren't feeling too great!! Regarding Maitland, I didn't realise it was an Ag show..I was going to take Maja along but if the parking is appauling (have to park 2 klms away & pay an entry fee) & the rides are going to be making a hell of a racket, then I might reconsider & go and have a look at Erskine Park the next day! Yep I think your on the money with that idea especially if shes only starting to get used to things, I think it might be too much for her! Come along to medowie next weekend thou Kite would love to meet a bloodhound...she will be baffled at first then will be up for a good play and she is a great play mate not too pushy and a total softy! Yeah count me in for another person who didn't realise Maitland show was The Maitland Show ... I'm not going to bring Archie into the showgrounds at 13 weeks - but he should be coming to Medowie the following weekend Kite will love Maja I'm sure .... Morty thought she was divine!
  6. It should be there if u are in the express area.. i posted it monday woo hooo I'll try to get off work early tomorrow and check out the PO Box ..... Archie's getting a bling lead dooo daaaa doooo daaaa Archie's getting a bling lead - oh dooo daaa day! Bec - Toby was free stacking like he was born to do it! he looked brilliant
  7. Morty has Pterry the Pterodactyl and Bruno the Bull ... well he really has 2 skins that previously held stuffing that kept them in the shape of a Pterodactyl and a Bull .... took him 4 months to gut Bruno and I had no comprehension of how much stuffing is in one of these things - it just kept coming and coming and coming out .... I'm still finding it everywhere .... Morty will work on something till he creates a weakness then he'll tear it apart .... once its been unstuffed though the skins last ages and he carries them around and plays with them more than when they were stuffed
  8. well its a good thing Archie is cute .... that's all I can say . ... . ...... ....... .. actually to be honest I think he did ok, for a dog (and handler) that's never done anything like this before we didn't completely make fools of ourselves I don't think did get to meet the lovely Toby and Maja (beautiful beautiful dogs!) an their equally lovely owners .... thanks guys for making us feel really welcome tonight - I really appreciated it(thanks for the loan of your daughter Bec for some puppy love/socialisation too - much appreciated) ..... need to bring a proper collar and lead though (turning up with a flat collar and a standard lead wasn't a good idea - but I'm expecting a lovely new lead to arrive in the coming days so that will be coming along next time I promise) ..... P.S if I thought I could have gotten away with stealing Maja I would have - I have never met a bloodhound before and she is just amazing .... such a beautiful natured girl (patient with a 12 week old GSP trying to jump all over her) just stunning! and Toby's the cutest little man I've ever met - his fur is so soft and crinkly .... it was my first Havanese and Bloodhound meeting moment tonight
  9. definitely bring the Areoguard - we were there Sunday morning for classes and they were monstrous! .... I'll be there - Archie in tow - he's a 12 week old GSP (10.2kg today as per the scales at the vets) ..... he'll be ecstatic to see everyone and will demand attention and cuddles from all those near him - I'm just the dolt on the end of the lead ..... this is our first class and I've never done this before - we can't stack, run or do anything but we're willing to watch and learn for the time being ..... oh this is what he looks like
  10. wow they are beautiful! great photos!!!
  11. this is a subject close to my heart as last year when in a beginners agility class a fellow classmate kicked my young GSP (13mths old at the time) in the side of his chest when we were less than 1m away from him and when he was in the process of recalling to us (thus why it got him in the side of the chest rather than the front) .... In that situation it was uncalled for and in my view (and in the view of others who were there that night) horrific..... but if a dog was attacking myself or my dog and it was the only option I had available I would use it ....
  12. this is the one I'm buying in a couple of weeks time .... glad to read you like it ...... I have one of the Lowepro fastpacks (which has been fabulous) but I've got too many lense's now for everything to fit comfortably so I need to upsize ..... where did you get your's on sale Justice if you don't mind me asking?
  13. love & measure (double whammy for us) smile subtle (not so subtle hint that Morty would like one of these beds in a bigger size than this one of Archie's ) high
  14. that Ebay seller is actually Vebo Pet Supplies from memory (same address for the seller and this store) ..... this is the item in their shop so you can see its the same http://shop.vebopet.com.au/store/%5B120x12...+enclosure.html so the pen should be a good quality one .... and its reduced to $130 in that size (120 x 120 x 100)
  15. GSP's don't have them on the rear but do on the front - my older boy still has his front dew claws but my pup's have been removed....
  16. He is very very cute - please head over to the GSP thread we'd love to see more photos and talk "puppy" with you .... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&start=8085
  17. 13/14 March Hillsborough closes 22nd Feb the Gazette says so still a little time before its due ..... sorry to hear Maja is injured - poor puppy Archie is pretty wild as well - I've done some stacking practice and we're working on free stacking but I've never shown before and we've really not tried a lot of lead training so it will be fun - but I've been told that showing a baby puppy is a lot of fun cause most of them don't do anything they are supposed to - so if Archie is being naughty I hope he's looking cute doing it
  18. Hi Bec Thanks for the info re Hillsborough. Is it an evening thing or during the day?...unfortunately I have to work Tuesdays, although if it were an evening thing I may be able to make it. Any more info regarding Cessnock..as that is possibly closer to me anyway? Thanks for your help!! I'm not Bec but my understanding is that Hillsborough is Tuesday evenings on a fortnightly basis and is on next Tuesday from memory - 6.30pm isn't it Bec? .... we will be there for the first time next week - when i say "we" it will be my the 12 week old pup's first outing and show training so it should be interesting .... hmmmm yes interesting is the word we will go with so far We will be at Maitland next weekend for some environmental training and possibly Medowie as well for a visit (I missed the cut off date to enter that show) ... looks like first show will be Hillsborough 13/14 March.....
  19. Eek! the bats fly over the house every evening - it wasn't till I cropped this photo when I realised that his little eyes are glowing (ok reflecting) even from that distance
  20. I have been told that GSP's and Obedience will never work by one person and by a different person on the same day that even if it does then I'm best getting a female cause the boys will never do any good .... also been told that GSP's aren't able to do Agility either (at least with any success) - on that occasion I commented that I should possibly let my boy's breeder know that since she's clearly deluding herself that her GSP's (and many others) have achieved what they have achieved .... Some people just have a lot of opinions ......
  21. Wait (aka the view from my bathroom - there is no such thing as privacy anymore)
  22. We have Petplan for the older GSP (19mths old) and were looking at all the others when looking at adding the pup to our policy (currently 10 weeks old) - I liked PIA but when I called them I was almost immediately put off by their customer service - on my week off I rang their number every day, 3-4x a day and each and everytime I got a voice answering system saying they were busy and to wait in a cue - after waiting for a while you leave your number for them to call back - I did this several times, some of the times someone called me back (about 50% of the time) and when I wasn't able to answer straight away they left me the general call number to call back on - and thus the cycle repeated itself ... I finally emailed them with my questions and got quite a blunt email back - whilst it answered the questions it didn't address in anyway my issues of the difficulties I had in getting through to speak to someone and it actually left me feeling like an idiot by the way they answered my questions.... I rang Petplan at the same time and when I rang I got straight through, lovely person on the phone, answered my questions, when I said I was considering changing to another company she suggested I make sure that on top of the usual questions I also ask some specific questions about coverage being reduced which she had expereinced herself on a personal level with her dog - she didn't push me to stay at Petplan just suggested I also ask these questions as well when shopping around..... After the experience with the poor customer service from PIA I called Petplan back and again got straight through to a lovely (but different) woman who emailed me the necessary documentation instantly and sorted everything out for me right away ... In saying this, I've not yet made a claim (fingers crossed I never do) but I really felt that if PIA was that difficult to speak to when just inquiring about a product then I didn't really think I wanted to go any further with them at this stage ......
  23. 3/52 for Archie (also my "blue" item on the February Photo Challenge) & 5/52 for Morty
