  1. he looks fabulous!!!!! if you want to give him something that is a bit more filling but is low in calories, try some steamed pumpkin - plenty of fibre in that to be filling ....
  2. love love love the photos everyone! from last week Morty 17/52 Archie 18/52
  3. I love the blinding glare off the water at the dog beach in the late afternoon and how it makes the boys a silhouette ... so I wanted to capture the energy that the boys play at and the light/glare as well - so on Monday I got these along with some other shots but here are the glare ones energy glare
  4. one on the left the one in the middle's black is much higher on the front legs at the side than the one to the left of the shot (the black comes down further at the front but it is much higher at the side)... if you compare that to the single photo you posted you can see your pup's black goes down past the elbow towards the wrist whereas the other little pup is higher towards the shoulder ;) (I'm used to seeing differences in GSP coats so you see patterns after a while) they are very cute ...
  5. those photos are brilliant Rocco ..... Lola is such a cutie and I especially love the one of Daisy - she looks amazing and definitely not evil at all
  6. Oh Rach that is lovely! I had forgotten I had pics up here waiting ... my apologies I ended up getting a friend to update my sig a week or so back thanks though
  7. Oh Jed ..... we have thought about you and your furry ones every day since this horrible thing happened - its so wonderful to see you post once more .... I'm off to tell the GSP boys the good news - they have been sending healing zoomies to your 4 legged ones cause we all know that zoomies make everyone feel better!
  8. Hey all Aldi have a 30cm USB drive based graphics pad for sale this week for $49.90 .... the brand is Medion and as with all Aldi electronics there is a 60 day money back guarentee.... I picked up one to see how it goes with editing photographs and to see if I like it - if I don't then its not a huge amount of money I've spent giving it a try .... this is it http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_13733.htm I don't work for Aldi or have any affiliation with them but thought I'd post this in case anyone else was interested in them too ....
  9. x2 x3 and I'm thinking quite a few more Gayle - he is divine! enjoy puppyhood they grow so very very fast Congrats to the breeder! he is a beautiful looking little man
  10. We missed a couple of weeks due to illness and rain .... but here we are again Archie 16/52 & Morty 15/52 (yes the coats are both wayyyy too big - they'd fit a Ridgeback or a Shetland Pony methinks!) Morty 16/52 Archie 17/52
  11. Our youngest boy was a real noisy one in the car to begin with but he settled quickly after a few trips .... neither of us sat in the backseat with him - I was always told to start as you intend on finishing so we both were in the front, he had a comfy rug in the back, a toy and a harness on that clipped to the seatbelt holder - shorten the length of the attachment so he can't jump up and all over the place ... then treat him quickly with something yummy when he is quiet ... ignore him when he is making the noise ... keep doing that until he is quieter more often than he is noisy .... after a few trips it should work itself out ....
  12. Na my 2 are allergic to water when it is falling out of the sky! they turn into the biggest girly-woosbags when its raining :D :D
  13. my understanding is that most pigs ears are fried and are high in fat .... you can buy venison ears which are air dried and (I think) about 95% fat free .... my dogs get the venison ears
  14. I'm the same .... I've not told the OH yet but I'm hoping to get a session with her for the boys when the warmer weather comes around!
  15. ah that is the 64 million dollar question - cause the Nikon and Canon camps are both very passionate about their camera For me .... Nikon all the way! Maybe go and handle both and see which works for you .....
  16. I'll disagree (well only based on our experience) - we were recommended to start as we intended to continue with so we've put both our GSP puppies in car harness's from the first day home (about 18mths apart not at the same time) - first time in harnesses for both of them .... we bought the Kramer size small for them and found this worked just fine for the first 2 weeks .... we put them on the back seat, they had a bed, a blanket and a few soft toys and both slept all the way home - there were a couple of moments of whines but they calmed down quickly .... the trip for both was about 2 - 2.5hrs home and they were just fine ... We liked the harness idea so they were secure (in case of an accident) and we don't crate them in the car (not enough room) as adults so they travel on the backseat in harnesses ....
  17. Borderfan - I'd find out exactly what happened first - did the dog bite the owners specifically or did their hands get in the way whilst it was attacking the rabbit and it bit them as part of this? was the child (who was holding the rabbit at the time) attacked in any way? - there is a BIG difference between being HA (human aggressive) and DA (dog aggressive) or animal aggressive - they don't necessarily translate to each other - ie just cause a dog is aggressive towards other animals is no indication it will attach humans and DA dogs can live quite happily in 1 animal households with responsible owners ... if the dog attacked the humans then this is different and I wouldn't be rehoming if it was me .... Anyway for everyone else I wanted to remind you of this forum and specifically of this item up for auction http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=197143 - its a new puppy kit and the money is going to the MDBA Pacers account for a DOL'er called Jed who has lost her house and several of her dogs in a house fire a few weeks back - she is currently hospitalised and in a serious condition .... its a great cause and I thought some here may like to bid for the puppy pack?
  18. Personally (and cause I also own a 6mth old large breed puppy) not until they are over 12 mths and maybe a little later .... done on advice of breeders My boys will be doing Agility and I want to give them the best start I can in allowing them to grow properly first .....
  19. Oh that is amazing news ..... such a great way to start the new week!
  20. No worries - as I said we pick and choose how long we stay for .. and if you've done Obedience classes before you can ask to be assessed to start at a higher level .. they also do Wed evening classes once you're at a certain level too - that's an hour long with more off lead and trialing based work preparation Come check it out one Sunday morning ... we won't be there this weekend (the OH's birthday) and its not on next weekend due to the Obedience trial but we'll be back there the first weekend in June ... if you want to say hi just look for me on the field with the 6mth old solid liver GSP puppy - should be easy to spot there are only 3 GSP's there at the moment and 2 are our's - and the 3rd is the litter sister of our pup ....
  21. another fan here - my boys love their 4x2's ... they'd get one every 2 days (on the other day they get a venison ear) I think we're about half way through a box now so possibly need to look at buying another box in a month's time ...
  22. Yup we are members .... have been since last year as its nice and close for us (about 10 minutes from home) ... we have had some great times there - our 2 boys do Obedience there and the older boy also does Agility there too ... Its a big club, I was really surprised at the number of dogs/owners there (especially in the warmer months and on enrollment days) - lots of dogs all shapes and sizes too ... we've met some really lovely people through there ... We have just started our pup in classes so I am going from the bottom again which is a lot of fun the 2nd time around .... Enrollments are the 1st Sunday of the month with classes every Sunday morning from 10am .... its $3 a week for class - and they have 3 sessions each week on a Sunday morning - usually half hour each - we usually only do 1-2 sessions as the boys get bored if we do longer ... trainers are volunteers and they run 2-3 Obedience trials/year (there is on at the end of May) and 2 Agility trials/year - the grounds are great, plenty of room, nice and flat, lots of parking and space too ....
  23. We had an empty tallboy available so moved that to the sunroom - two top smaller draws hold collars and smaller items, larger drawers hold coats and spare dog blankets.... 2 hooks at the front door hold emergency leads/collars in case we need to get out the front quickly (the boys don't wear collars unless we are out), their toys are mostly kept in their crates or around the backyard.... Food is kept in the wine room (as the door is always closed), treats are in a plastic storage container on top of the fridge and medicines are in a drawer near the backdoor/sunroom area
  24. Hi there welcome to DOL I don't know much about the breeds you are looking at but maybe the best idea might be to go along to a local show one weekend and watch the rings, see what kinds of breeds you like the look of and then go and speak to the owners/handlers about them ... there are breed specific threads in the forum too http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showforum=51 that may help with your decision and a specific area http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showforum=62 called Dogs101 which has a lot more information about specific breeds Going for walks off lead is only safe if it is a designated off lead area (and even then depending on who else is around) or on private property ... you'll want a dog with good recall if you are planning on doing something like that...
