I'd like to do Geraldton sometime next year when there's a weekend that includes obedience and agility I think camping on the grounds with fellow trialling/showing buddies would be fun I had a ball camping away for retrieving with Ruby

Now I want to know who that is! Gotta rack my brain.... We've trained under the carpark lights a few times

all the seekbacks are scented Oops - that was my bad then - I thought there were 2 articles in UDX one scented by the steward and one unscented So Leo is a very clever boy as he is only bringing back your scented one and not the decoys.. (I hope that I am reading this right) ;) I read it as she has placed out several scented articles all with her scent on it, so there are no decoys at present. Maybe I'm wrong

Retraining Out Of Sight Stays
RubyStar replied to Zug Zug's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Poor Zug Zug, all she wanted was some help with her out of sight stays -
Was there training on Monday night? I thought it was school holidays already so I stayed home Bugger!!! It is school holidays does you club always break over the school holidays? Obedience, yes. I was told they haven't reserved the K9 grounds over the school holidays so even if you train on your own, you're working in the dark

I did some scent with the girls last night. Millie is like a psycho puppy on speed - she bounces out, paws flying like a puppy does when it's playing, and still managed to bring back the correct article every time in the full set I forgot she can't present yet, and stood there waiting for her to bring the article back. And what does she do, brings it up and sits with it in front of me! :D Presents with both girls needs work, though. I then took away the heavily scented article and scented one of the others I use, and whacked it out with a couple other unscented. Both girls nailed the freshly scented article I need to start taking this "on the road" as they aren't as reliable away from home.

Retraining Out Of Sight Stays
RubyStar replied to Zug Zug's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have just retired one of my kids from obedience because she would shut down in the ring. Meeting 2 of her sibblings and seeing that they were a replica of her made me realise that nothing I did was ever going to change this aspect of her. Now she just comes training and conitnues to learn new things and loves every minute of it. Which kid??? -

Great time was had by me and Ruby, too! I'll definitely incorporate some rally into my regular obedience training so I am ready to go when trials start happening Thanks angelsun! And rusky for organising

Do you know how much food you can go through using food in beginning to train the 2x2 method? I'd be in negative quota for their daily intake, I'd be asking them to throw up some of the food they've eaten back into their dinner bowl So glad I switched to the i-squeak to train this I only train this once a week (if that) so we've been at 6 poles for a few weeks now. But I have to work that arc more so am thinking of going back to 4 poles to get those entries rock solid. Surprisingly, she has a higher entry success rate starting on the left hand side than on the right I love it when she pretends to weave and runs straight past all the poles and takes the last one or two ;) Little ratbag But I'm in no rush to get the 12 happening, though, as she is still dogwalk phobic so agility is a fair way off while I work through that.

Thankyou I was very pleased that Ruby maintained enthusiasm with 3 trials in one day, that is quite an ask! Definitely getting to offer some verbal encouragement throughout helped with keeping that head up and tail wagging :D Watching those videos back, I noticed heeling around the cones in the two last runs she was anticipating a figure 8 pattern and started to take herself in that direction Things are looking good RS, So you are allowed to talk to them in Rally then? Yep, you can chatter away to them to your heart's content And in Novice level you can even give your dog a pat for encouragement when in there I have a few minor concerns of Rally possibly affecting "traditional" obedience, but not enough to not take part should it become recognised and they start holding trials here in WA. eg. One of the exercises you have to get your dog to sit, and then down from the sit, which I try to not encourage because I have one of those dogs who lays down in sit stays Another is you have to do both types of left about turns, and after working to eradicate the behind the back one in the ring, all of a sudden I had to reintroduce it. But these are very minor, and it is a lot of fun to do

What should they be to stay in the race? What gets you out of the race?
-
I could probably work it out with some basic maths, but maths was never a strong point How long does it take you to complete each section at the set pace? Can you get a gadget for your bike which tells you your speed and distance? Are they expensive? What sort of bike do you need to complete this? Do you just have your normal lead in your left hand?

I had to giggle at myself. You know how when you walk an agility course you usually have your arm up directing your invisible dog? Well I was walking the rally course with my arm glued to my side and keeping my body posture like I had my dog there What made me laugh even more was a woman walking it near me with her invisible dog, she was going "watching! watching" to it I threw in a few "good girls" to my invisible dog, too :D

I've edited my previous post to include the last Rally-O video
-
Yeah I think I will when/if it ever gets accepted and we start having trials here in WA The beauty of it is I am training for it when I'm training traditional obedience anyway. I will just practice a few of the extra moves they throw in rally while I'm out training regular stuff. If it was a whole new sport where I had to go and learn all new things, I would be hesitant.

Well it wasn't too bad to follow, except I did a wrong turn in one and lost a whopping 10 points in one hit! Never mind the fact that it was a decent turn Blew a 98 with that dummy handler error I'd be kicking myself had it been a real trial

Geez talk about jumping the gun They haven't even all finished uploading yet, are you stalking my channel :D About 20 mins left for the last vid. Here are the first 2 Rally-O vids, will edit once last one is ready: Edit: last vid

I think Lincoln had jumping beans for lunch His enthusiasm at the end was great ;) Ruby and I had a great time. We were expected to complete the 3 rounds as if they were real trials, so had it been the real deal, Ruby would have earned her Rally Novice (RN??) title today :D ValleyCBR got my 3 rounds on video for me, so I will upload to youtube as soon as she is able to send them to me Ruby ended up with her own cheer squad on the sideline, it was hilarious and certainly was a feelgood moment

:D Same with Ruby!! She can do anti-clockwise, stepping into me as I rotate left, but try and get her to go right, it just wasn't happening I wanted to get her to go the other way because her fronts are always a little off to the one side, so getting her to be able to move her bum to her left would help get those fronts a bit straighter but bugger me if I could get her to do perch work in that direction One would think that would be the easiest direction to teach

I just watched Daisy's round and was going to make a similar comment about how looooong their rounds are! At the 2009 Western Classic when we had a QLD judge for CCD, my heel pattern was really long and all these turns in fast pace :D Then Ruby's novice round at the Nationals with a VIC judge, her fast pace was just a very short straight bit at the very end with NO positions, so less tough than a CCD round! I would have expected you only start getting all paces and all positions and turns in Open, at least in WA?
