Did you see how he was actually managing all these dogs Panto? He's got the adults on leads (I think) but how was he also carrying 2 boxes of puppies? -

Not too well organised to take them to the vets like that and stop for a beer along the way. I'd be getting them to the vet and home again asap. The puppies look a bit mangy. Look at the way he's picking the puppy up. I dont know the area, is there a vet clinic near by? Dont know about puppy farmer, more like BYB to me. -
I've just got a new puppy, an Italian Greyhound and she's like nothing I've ever had before. I've had dogs for over 30 years and always been able to train them the basics with no problems, (which for now is all I'm interested in). All my dogs walk well on the lead, dont pull. It's been almost 10 years since I had a puppy and I haven't even begun to train her. She seems to have 3 modes. Hungry, sleepy or completely psycho where she runs around like a lunatic. I'm not sure if I can get through to her when she's like that. So what mood do I start lead training on, hungry, sleepy or psycho? Actually, it's not completely correct that I haven't begun to train her. She's started toilet training and is learning to sit for her dinner. She's also already taught me when she is hungry, she goes and sits in the hallway, which is where I feed her so I can stop the other dogs from stealing her dinner.

wow, how long is that bears tongue! and there's a little spider on the orangutans chin, what a capture that was. Amazing photos.

gotta watch those chooks, they're not afraid of her at all and I'm a bit scared they'll peck at her eyes. she's so innocent she has no idea what they're like, other than they taste good, but she doesn't know that's what she's been eating. If they hurt her she'll find out! I'll be feeding them to her myself. IMG_5738dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr

Dannys Darling can take credit for the Daisy Ninja name. I think it suits her perfectly, it might have to at least be her nickname.

Well 2nd night couldn't have been more different. I put her in and she went straight to sleep, or was at least completely silent. Didn't hear a peep all night, didnt even get her up for a toilet break. This morning I unzipped the door and she still didn't stir. It was only when I put my hand in to make sure she was still alive did I feel her little tail wagging. She was all toasty warm and comfy. Like a typical Italian Greyhound she hates getting her feet wet and was horrified this morning when I carried her outside onto the wet grass. The boys are showing the very slightest hint of play with her but it only lasts a second or so and usually ends by them doing a loud bark and frightening her. I suspect she thinks she's moved into an old peoples home.

Here's a pic from a few days ago I thought was cute. That's Nana Meece with my Neko in flight 5F6A8874dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr

I have a friend who rescued a dog and when she arrived she was at her perfect weight, about 24kgs. I would estimate she is now about 40kgs. Last time I looked after her I took her to the vet and she weighed in then at 36kg and she's put on weight since then. I used to try to tell her owner she was too fat, but it fell on deaf ears. I used to take her to the park to let her run with my whippets, which she loved, but I refuse to now because I'm afraid she'll do herself an injury or drop dead from a heart attack. His way of showing her affection is to feed her.

you should drag him along to our whippet fun day, you're not far away, we're having one next Sunday, but Neko (my puppy) wont be there. She's not fully vaccinated so I've decided to let her spend the night back with Marcus and her brother Sparkey.

If we hadn't already picked out her registered name I would have said to call her Daisy Ninja, I think it's really cute, especially when I remember how she brutally killed that little daisy.

You'll think I'm a hard hearted Hanna, I managed to not succumb to her cries, but it was very hard. I put her in a soft crate by my bed and she cried for about 15-20 minutes and then settled to the occasional whimper. Eventually went to sleep but cried a couple of times in the night, it might have even been in her sleep. I got her up once for a toilet break outside and she was a good girl and did her wees. I thought she might not want to go back to bed but she was really good and just snuggled back in. She's had 3 chicken wing tips for brekky, her appetite is good! She wanted to play after brekky so I sat on the floor with her and some soft toys to have a game, but Puck kept bargearseing in and either stealing her toy or barking in her face. Early days. Iggy Mums present of this little shirt is most appropriate. It says "dont hate me because I'm beautiful Dont hate me because I'm Beautiful by kirislin, on Flickr

we survived the night and I managed to not succumb to her sad little cries and let her in to my bed. She cried for about 15-20 minutes and then settled. Woke up a couple of times crying, or perhaps it was in her sleep. It was heartbreaking, I so wanted to just scoop her up and cuddle her to sleep. I got her up once for a toilet break outside and then back to bed and she settled fairly quickly. She's had 3 chicken wing tips for brekky already and wanted to play but Puck kept bargearsing in to steal her toy or bark in her face. her little shirt is a present from Iggy Mum and is most appropriate. Well she's home. A bit unsettled and whimpering, but she ate her dinner and has done wees and poos outside It was a day of firsts for her. Her first horse turd. what's that thing? 5F6A9270dppt by kirislin, on Flickr hmmm smells like some kind of poo! 5F6A9273dppt by kirislin, on Flickr oooh tastes like some kind of poo too! 5F6A9274dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Wow, lucky I didn't step in it. 5F6A9275dppt by kirislin, on Flickr whoa! what's that thing? 5F6A9277dppt by kirislin, on Flickr She just got a fright when she saw her reflection in the glass door. She wants to climb into bed with the boys and they aren't as welcoming as I'd anticipated. Tag just curled his lip up at her but I'm not sure if she noticed. I'm a bit scared one of them will snap at her and connect. She's so tiny they could do alot of damage even if that wasn't their intention.

We're home, intros have been done. My dogs were good but she's quite overwhelmed right now I think. She was fascinated with Pagan (my mare) I sat outside on the deck for ages with her on my lap hoping she'd get off and explore in her own time but it didn't happen. Everything is so new for her, she'd never heard magpies or kookaburras until now. I took her inside for a while and then went out but this time placed her on the ground. She's had a bit of a sniff, smelt and tasted her first horse turd, seen the chickens, who are just a bit too interested in her. She still hasn't done a wee and right now is asleep with Penny in one of the round beds.

No, still here, been vaccuuming and waiting for Iggy Mum to get here. She's got almost an hours drive to my place, then another hour to puppys house so she's pretty damn keen to do 4 hours driving when it's not even her puppy! She's Godmother though and has shared the journey with me.

thanks everyone. Her breeder isn't a forum type person but I've shown him these threads about his girl Widge and her babies and he's been quite touched by everyones interest. You can be sure of seeing more of her as she gets to know the gang here too.

you're welcome to share in my excitement. :D Haven't settled on a name, I think once she comes home it will be easier. I just hope it doesn't end up being pup pup.

My little fib comes home today!

 You are so funny, I think you're almost as excited as I am! Thankyou for coming along for the ride with me. I'm already planning her meals because Marcus doesn't feed dry food so I want to give her good food to help her grow. On our (Iggy Mum is so excited she's coming too) way down we're stopping at the fish monger and buying fresh sardines that I will freeze in small portions. She already knows how to chomp them up and I've introduced my whippets to them now as well. Yesterday I froze small portions of chicken wings tips for her so it's all ready and waiting. I've covered my leather lounge suites as best I can to at least give them some protection from little nails. I've got some netting ready in case I have to cover the lower parts of the gates that go into the paddock. I'm not sure if she'll fit throught the holes so I'll wait and see with that, but I'm ready if she tries. Oh and the camera battery is fully charged!
