  1. Why on Earth would be have an introduced species of crow!?!?! Anyway, I was hoping you being the bird expert, and an Iggy person could tell me, is my tiny 1.7kg puppy at risk of being taken or attacked by a crow or raven? I believe they are not intentional introductions but instead they hitch a ride on ships! I wouldn't say that a crow/raven would never take a puppy, but I would think the chances are pretty low - they prefer to scavenge rather than take live prey. If you are concerned just supervise her outside till she gets a bit bigger or pop her in a covered run. I haven't got her yet and right now they're unsupervised although someone will be there soon. Even when people are there though, the puppies run outside to play and sometimes it's just the puppies out there. They're in and out all the time now, once they're awake, sometimes only for a couple of minutes but they pelt around like crazy.

  3. OK T, I've just spoken to Marcus for you, he says your chances are VERY GOOD if.............................. You're financially loaded.
  4. I hope Widget keeps this one at bay because I keep worrying about it hanging around. That's a horrible story. I would imagine corgi puppies at that age are still bigger than my almost 9 week old little girl. I'm worrying especially today because their owner is out at the moment and although he's arranged for someone to keep an eye on them they'll be on their own for a couple of hours. I hope they stay inside till their minder gets there.
  5. Must he be clipped? I'm wondering if the owners work more to desensitising him to regular brushing instead, he could keep his coat and just have it cared for so it doesn't mat.
  6. Well, if you're younger you might have a better chance of catching him. You've seen those great long legs of his.
  7. Would you like me to ask him? I think Dannys Darling might have first dibs though, you'll have to fight her off first, oh, that's after you've got past me.Probably what I should just say is get in line. Whenever I'm there his phone runs hot and it's always women!
  8. this is what I feared! I got such a surprise to see it watching so intently and my puppys mother must have sensed the danger because she went after it, but the puppies often dash outside now with no adult humans or dogs around, and that crow will be watching for her now.

  10. While I was visiting yesterday a lovely family came to look at the big boy and were instantly smitten with him. Of course he did all the right things a puppy should when you're looking to buy one, he ran straight up to them and totally won them over so it looks like they've all got homes now. Hero worship. 11. very cute. a pet home or a racing home? I am not in a position to take her, just curious.
  12. what a sweet but sad story, I dont mind that it's off topic, thanks for telling it.
  13. Yes were I live eagles and smaller birds of prey will be a potential threat while she's tiny, but I didn't expect to see a crow in suburbia watching her so intently.
  14. Could a crow or a raven pose a threat to a tiny puppy? I know they're mainly carrion feeders but I know they'll eat sick disabled animals while they're still alive. Yesterday while visiting my puppy in suburbia I was surprised to see a crow watching them from the fence. My puppy only weighs 1.7kgs so is pretty tiny. The puppies mother Widget was very protective and rushed at the bird leaping up trying to catch it or send it on its way. I know birds of prey will take small dogs but I'm not sure about crows.
  15. She almost looks preggers in the recent pics, but I suppose if she was the pups would have been born by now, so maybe she'd just had her dinner.
  16. I would never just drop an animal off to be euthanased, I'd stay with it to the end, but just because the owners of this dog didn't do that it doesn't excuse what the vets did.
  17. We decided the puppies need more time after their vaccinations so Feather didn't go to meet them yesterday. These photos are from last week, I've got a bit of catching up to do. Iggies are known for having teeth problems and Marcus is really good about exposing the pups to natural food so they'll get used to chewing and hopefully avoid many of those problems in later life. 18. mmmmmmm I'd sleep in there if I could fit, looks very snuggly
  19. I'm seeing them today and might take Feather whippet down to meet them. She's the one I'm just a bit concerned might be jealous and not know how to react to puppies. If I take her I'll also take a muzzle with me but hope I wont be needing it. I haven't put photos up from the last few visits because I'd run out of room on my computer but I've made some room now so I'll be catching up over the next few days with more recent photos.
  20. she referred to him as a dirty old f@#$*er. I wonder exactly what the story is.
  21. you poor thing, I dont blame you for crying, I would too. The owner is irresponsible and needs to face facts about his dog.
