I dont like the idea of franchising vets. I hope my local one doesn't get bought.

When he gets such large lots they work out to $2.50 per kg which is fantastic value I think. He's got Italian greyhounds and they can still manage to chew them up so your little dacshund should be able to cope with them too.

Little monsters this morning enjoying the sunshine.

Australian Ravens. There are no crows around Canberra, there are only Ravens. But there are the Choughs, that live in family groups and are black with white under their wings. They can get mistaken for crows too. Ravens and Crows - Corvids - are credited with being some of the most intelligent of all birds. doesn't surprise me. Have you ever seen a crow or raven hit by a car? I dont think I have. MMmmmm they are smart ! Another Government study provides outstanding results . . . CSIRO Officials admitted that they found about 200 dead crows on the highway between Noonamah and Palmerston, in Northern Territory, where there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. The Territory Government approved and the CSIRO contracted a bird pathologist to examine the remains of all the crows and he confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu, much to everyone’s relief. However, he determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, and only 2% were killed by car impact. (Didn't know there was a difference!) The Territory Government then hired an Ornithological Behaviourist to determine the disproportionate percentages for truck versus car kills. After 18 months of research and $2.7 million spent, the Ornithological Behaviourist determined the cause in the deaths. When crows eat road kill, they always set-up a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. His conclusion was that the lookout crow could say “Cah”, but he could not say “Truck”. You had me sucked in! I was thinking I cannot believe they spent all that money on such a study.

I've got whippets and I still feel even for them beef bones are too big. I love getting the lamb ribs for them. Sometimes they have thick fat on which I always trim off but otherwise I think they're good, as are chicken wings, legs and frames. I've recently been able to get turkey necks from a friend who buys 90kg lots from his butcher and then shares them out amongst his friends. Last time I got 15 kgs but I've used almost all of them. They're excellent, you need a chopper to cut them up. I got one from a chinese grocery store.

I've only just seen this, I dont like looking in here. I'm so sorry he's gone, he'll leave a big hole in your life.

Keeps Sitting Down Weak Back Legs

My first thought from your description was spinal. I hope you can get to the source of the problem, she's so young, it's heartbreaking to see them in pain and not be able to help them. -
they dont always anaesthetise them for an x-ray, depends on how co operative the dog is. Sounds like he needs it though.

Do You Like It When Strangers Interact With Your Dogs?
Kirislin replied to Blackdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I love it when friendly people come and admire and ask to pat my dogs. If I had a different breed that wasn't so friendly I suppose it would be a totally different story. -
How Much Did Your Pup Weigh At 8 Weeks?
Kirislin replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
I hae a theory about whippets and I'm wondering if it will be the same with Italian greyhounds, I will soon be putting it to the test. It's that whatever their weight is at 9 weeks it will be half their (correct) adult weight. Obviously it doesn't work with larger breeds but in the 2 whippet litters I bred it worked. My puppy will be 9 weeks old on Saturday so I'll be getting the scales out for sure to test my theory. -
I've no idea but I wanted to say how pretty your place looks, very Englishy and stabley

very cute, nice to see photos of your dogs too DD

very cute indeed.

We've been saying it more like Neeko, but it's not correct. I got the idea from the photo I took of her looking like the little ceramic Lucky cats of Japan that I found were called Maneki Neko, (Neko being cat) but they pronounce it more Neykoh.
-
I really like the name Fame, I'd been thinking of calling her that but I didn't come up with it myself, my mother had a cat she called Fame. At the moment we're trying Neko on her. Marcus is really good and calling her by that name but it's not sticking for me so I dont know. Hopefully once I get her home I'll come up with a name that sticks.

How Much Did Your Pup Weigh At 8 Weeks?

they can vary so much within litters even. My friend with the Italian greyhound litter has one that's almost twice the weight of the other 2. All are a healthy weight for their size though and the smaller ones are probably more like you'd expect the breed to be. Oh, I forgot to answer your question. My puppy weighed a whopping 1.7kgs at 8 weeks  -
Extreme Anxiety After Grooming
Kirislin replied to CathyM's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I used to share a house with a girl who had a long coated (are they called rough) collie. Its coat was immaculate, but she used to brush it every single day. It didn't take her long though, just 5 minutes or so, but she made it part of her daily routine. I think people have become too reliant on groomers these days. If it was my dog I'd be trying to overcome the fear issues with the brush and then get into the habit of doing it daily. -
I cannot tell the difference between them but I knew we have both hence the title of my thread.

Better buy that ticket then. beautiful photos, you've captured the light and his softness so well, I just want to be able to bury my face in his fur and snuggle.

another thing I've often thought search and rescue dogs, and probably police dogs should have, is footwear. When I see them searching wrecked buildings I think about sharp objects that could cut their feet.

 that's so cute, and true! Maybe if her first name gets knocked back we can put that as our second preference. Roskyle Daisy Ninja. It's original anyway.
