  1. Her foot seems fine this morning, she does seem to be more submissive with Feather but still getting in her face, just in a more grovelly way and Feather still turns her head away because she doesn't want to interact with Neko. Here she is yesterday, 12 weeks and 1 day old. 5F6A9843dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A9841dpptc by kirislin, on Flickr
  2. It might be worth asking your local butcher if he can get them in bulk lots. A friend of mine gets all his doggy friends (of which I am one) together and then orders 90kgs from his butcher. It takes a bit of juggling because everyone has to be ready to go and pick them up fairly quickly so as not to inconvenience the butcher but it works out to around $2.50kg. Last time I got 15kgs which is one box, but next time I'll buy at least 30kg. Of course you need room in your freezer too.
  3. how much are they per kilo at woolies?
  4. At first I thought she was but now not so sure, it's a real juggling act at the moment. One of the "guests" is starting to look quite jealous so I shut her in a crate for a while with a lamb rib while Neko did her puppy on crack routine. Zoey, another iggy guest had a really cute play with her then which was good. Her little bitten toe is alot better today though, swelling gone down and she's pelting around again, which I wish she wouldn't in case it opens the cut. sigh what have I got myself in for?

  6. I made the mistake of leaving my dog with my ex because he blubbered so much about me leaving, I felt sorry for him. He promised to care for her and let me visit whenever I wanted, but that arrangement ended quickly when he got a new jealous girlfriend. Within a year "my" dog was dead. Hit on the road.
  7. thats' cute. Yes I was a bit frantic. I confessed to Marcus straight away and he's very understanding although he has a friend there who I suspect thinks I'm a total idiot. Oh well.
  8. We've just come back from the vets, we had a mishap here. She'd been running in and out of the house so I'd gone outside with my camera, planning on taking some photos of her. Meanwhile she'd pelted back inside and suddenly I heard this shrieking and raced inside to see her running in fear and crying with all the other dogs running after her wondering why she was carrying on. From what I can gather she'd jumped into the crate with Feather and pestered her one too many times and Feather bit her on the foot. There was blood so I didn't stuff about, straight to the vets. He had a good look, thankfully no fracture or joint damage, just broken skin so she's on AB's for 5 days and needs to be kept quiet, no digging, licking or too much running around.
  9. Oh Luka! of course! yes now I know who he is, I assumed it was chequeredblackdogs'
  10. that really did make me laugh out loud, I take it Luka is a dalmation?
  11. I'm sorry to have to say, my little Neko sleeps around a bit. This morning it was with Tag IMG_5877dppt by kirislin, on Flickr and this afternoon his brother Puck IMG_5886dppt by kirislin, on Flickr IMG_5887dppt by kirislin, on Flickr
  12. I dont feed my dogs treats much but I bought a whole ox heart the other day and made about half of it into tiny dried chips to use as training treats for my new puppy. I just sliced it thinly, blanched it and then dried it in the oven. It's not hard.
  13. They only came yesterday but it's a bit stressful. IM's dogs are rescues and 2 of them have issues with "power pissing" in that they feel the need to pee on my carpet and furniture. I'm trying to housetrain Neko so it's even harder when she's smelling other dogs' pee everywhere and it doesn't go down well with me either. There's also a bit of tension with the pack overall so I've got to monitor it all very carefully but we've just been spending a bit of time outside in the sun which they seemed to enjoy without any power games.
  14. I'm looking after Iggy Mums dogs again as she's been admitted to hospital, but that's a whole 'nuther story I wanted to get a group photo but try as I might, Princess Feather refused to co operate, so this is all I could get. Looks like a few of them need sunglasses. Look who placed herself in centre stage IMG_5849dppt by kirislin, on Flickr
  15. awww Happy Gotcha Day Gussy. :)
  16. I just got your title
  17. it's a beautiful property!! Love the animals names. Wayne the cat
  18. I've just blanched some and am now drying it in the oven. Once it's dried I thought I might chop it into tiny bits as training treats. Even if she doesn't like it I know the whippets will.
  19. she's an Italian greyhound, I was only going to slice off a long piece so she could chew it, but I've tested her on a tiny piece and I dont think she likes it anyway. scratch that, she's eating it now for lunch. :)
  20. I've heard that ox heart is salty. Does anyone know if it be OK to give one meal of it to my puppy today?
  21. thanks Kiesha, glad you like them. You'd be even more in love if you met them in the fur!
  22. I'm absolutely loving having her here. It's a bit of a juggling act at the moment making sure I dont fuss over her too much to create problems with my pack. Feather is already jealous and also unsure of a puppy, she doesn't know how to play with her, so I have to watch their interactions carefully. Kibah is really cute with her when she's not in her befuddled fog, I think she's going senile, but when she's "with it" she's playful and sort of motherly with her. Penny would play but is getting quite frail and Neko knocks her about. We've just had a short stint of lead training in the backyard. I've taught her to sit and also to "give" her toys when asked to. She's already figured out if I dont let her in through the kitchen door she has to run around the house to the other side and come through the doggy door, she learnt that in less than a day. When I told Marcus how clever she was he nearly cried with pride. I'm introducing her to new foods too. She's eaten raw carrot, raw sweet potato, apple and cucumber, oh as well as horse poo of course, which she loves. Italian greyhounds are notoriously hard to toilet train so were working on that. So far in the week or so that I've had her she's only done about 5 poos in the house and probably 6 wees. Considering how many times she would have gone in total I dont think it's too bad. I expect it will take a while for her to realise she has to go outside for toilet, but we're getting there. Here she is trashing pruning one of my water gardens. IMG_5787dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr just chillin' on the deck. IMG_5798dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr and here's her gorgeous brother Sparkey who's stayed with Marcus the breeder for now. 23. I've slacked off now that I'm not on puppy watch anymore. Here she is getting to know my boys. I picked her up on the 12th and these were taken on the 16th. They're still a bit uncertain, but getting better each day. That's Puck on the left of her and Tag at the back. 5F6A9418dppt by kirislin, on Flickr This was one of the first times he chased her and both were a bit unsure. He was very gentle though, I'm most worried about him jumping on her. 5F6A9499dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A9502dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Tag's got that soft goofy look about him. Marcus said he looked goofy and I said goofy is good. I'd rather that than him looking like he was chasing a little bunny. 5F6A9504dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A9505dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A9501dppt by kirislin, on Flickr She went back to Marcus' on Saturday for a sleep over because I was busy with the whippet fun day yesterday and didn't want to take her because she's not fully vaccinated yet. She had a great time and Marcus and his dog training friend were very impressed with how much she's developed personality wise. She had been the most reserved of the 3 but was completely relaxed meeting 2 new dogs at his place. When I brought her back home my lot greeted her like she was a returning pack member which made me happy too.
  24. what a cute little thing, he looks like he's got loads of character. I wish you many happy long years with him.
