How Do You Maintain Your Leashes After The Beach?
Kirislin replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh, well probably just what you're already doing. Maybe just go back to el cheapo ones for the beach. I used to have plastic bridles for my horses that I called their bathers. -
How Do You Maintain Your Leashes After The Beach?

I'm assuming it's leather you're talking about. I would wash it in fresh cold water, allow to dry naturally, it will probably then feel dry and hard. I'd then use a good quality leather conditioner, the creamy type, not the liquidy ones, and let it soak in. I use Ge Wy, but they dont make it anymore. If you know before hand that you're going to the beach give them a good oiling before as well. -
How Do You Deal With The Obsessive Animal Lib Types?
Kirislin replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
I deleted a friend who kept posting shocking and distressing photos of animal cruelty. I'm sorry I had to delete her and I explained to her at the time why I was doing it. We're still friends, just not on facebook. There are other ways of maintaining contact with her if you want to. -
 I was kidding about the shoes. I thought the shoes were pretty funky. He wears great shoes and they really suit him.

yeah, I wish he'd kept the camera on her, but then we wouldn't have seen his uber cool shoes.

Thanks for all your interest. Their dad isn't on DOL but I've shown him the thread and he's quite touched that so many people are enjoying Widge and her babies. I find myself looking forward to the next time I'll be seeing them all week. I do have a life outside these puppies but right now I'm so preoccuied with thinking about them.

Whenever I've read the feeding instructions on dry food I think for my dogs it's always too much. I only feed a small portion of dry to my dogs in the mornings now, so I dont even bother reading the manufacturers instructions. I base how much I feed on the body condition of my dogs. People are often surprised at how little I actually feed them. Is your puppy fat, thin or a good healthy weight? Just judge it on that.

I knew an elderly woman who carried a portable cattle prod to protect herself and her Cairn terrier.

It's a sorry state of affairs isn't it when people are afraid (with good reason) to do something as simple as take the dog for a walk. How did it get so bad and how can we be made to feel safe again?

the only place I regularly walk mine is at the park I've been going to for over 14 years now. I know most of the people and dogs there, but I'm still always on the alert for dogs I dont know, and my dogs have been attacked several times over the years. The worst one was with Penny about 3 years ago and sadly it was ME who caused her injury by instinctively yanking her behind my legs when a loose dog dragging a lead attacked her. I went to kick it and it went for me! I saved her from the attack but I hurt her neck when I pulled her to protect her.

lovely photos. What do you do with all these sheep FM? Are they pets or does their wool get used?
-
Do your dogs have good recall? If so, you're welcome to come and walk them in my 10 acre paddock. I dont take my own dogs there because they'd go nuts and p!ss off hunting, but if yours aren't so feral they'd be fine.

from today. They're thriving. I'll post more tomorrow. 5F6A7463dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A7465dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A7468dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr

I saw her today and I dont think it's mastitis. I'm no expert but they aren't sore or inflamed.

and this one, you look so excited and proud and Sid's like 'yeah, so what?'

I love the big grin and discreet wave here so Sid doesn't twig.
