One Of The Consequences Of Sleeping With Dogs.
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
This, do people just not care what they sleep in. The one time one of mine had an accident in my bed it resulted in him having full blood work done to rule out anything nasty going on. All tested out fine and no problems since then. I care very much, that is why in my original post I made it clear I hated waking up to it. It happens so rarely to me though, and I love my dogs so I forgive their imperfections. -

The mind boggles at your bright idea  -
a friend's got a new viszla puppy and I saw him for the first time today. He's 9 weeks old today and his name is Zack. He's all warm and soft and squidgy 5F6A5629dppt by kirislin, on Flickr showing off his athletic skills 5F6A5638dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Look at me, look how fast I can run! 5F6A5640dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5643dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5644dppt by kirislin, on Flickr wrinkled brow of concerntration 5F6A5645dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5646dppt by kirislin, on Flickr v 5F6A5668dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A5671dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

I thought that was an Italian Greyhound although I do see a whippet or two in the pack at the end.

I wouldn't call my dogs incontinent. I'm not sure why the occasional poo slips out of one of their bums, I know it's not deliberate and it only happens when they have really firm little pebbles, not great big sloppy poos. When they see a turd in the bed, they seem as grossed out by it as I am. -

In my dogs' defence, it only happens rarely and I dont know who the culprit is or whether they all take turns. -

 I wasn't expecting so many funny replies. I'm up now because I cannot sleep, I've got my 3 girls and 2 of Iggy Mums in the bed, it's hot and crowded in there, no accidents so far that I know of. -

Consider youself very lucky. My dogs usually have fairly firm stools and sometimes these little pebbles pop out. It's not nice to wake up to, even though they dont smear, they're hard, but to think I've been sleeping with it. Well I can think of better things to wake up to. -
Dont you just hate it when that slightly gritty lumpy feeling in the bed, that you assumed was from one of the dogs going outside to the toilet and bringing in a bit of dirt on their paws actually turns out to be a little pebble of hard dry dog poo that must have popped out of their bum while they slept. I do.

seeing the photo of him, and how proud his dad looked, and knowing their story makes it so much more real, and so very sad. -
5 Months Old Puppy Dies During Simple Surgery
Kirislin replied to Pockets's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm surprised the nurse admitted doing that. I wonder if she'd repeat it, she might deny it next time. Very sad, we're always warned operations carry risks, and they are expensive, but I would have thought one of the reasons they're so costly is because of the skill ane care required to carry them out, that's one of the things you pay for and if nurse left the dog unattended then it would seem the pup wasn't getting the care and attention the owners were being charged for. I wonder why the vet let that happen. -

Kirislin replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
This is exactly what my greyhound would do, but then he'd eventually flop over and just lay there. It was actually better than the sudden death, much more drama. -
Awww I didn't know that but it's lovely. I did notice the little shaved patch on her forearm and wondered what the story was.

I taught a greyhound to play dead. I'd say your boy's only wounded because he keeps his head up, he doesn't completely flop over with head on the ground. -
thanks for looking Frodo, tlc and Beltar. Yes it was a lovely day and Beltar I thought your little girls were very brave meeting Lilly, alot of the bigger dogs looked more daunted by her than your two.

I'd rather not say, I dont want to invite any stranger who's reading this to come along and try.

We had a fab day yesterday, perfect weather and lots of dogs. We even had a wolfhound, the biggest of the sighthounds! She was amazing, very sociable and gentle. Here she is meeting the littlest of the sighthound group, Italian Greyhounds Bella and Tari(owned by DOLer Beltar) 5F6A5402dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr and here's Pixie with her prize, part of the lure. 5F6A5602dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr and here she is hitting the brakes 5F6A5535dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr to see more photos of the day look here. No a friend is knitting them, I struggle to sew a button on She was going to try and make ears for them but she's now thinking of buying old soft toys from the op-shop and cutting the ears off and sewing them on the hats  That actually sounds so awesome- You know, Stan's mum, they'll be a DOL-style riot if we don't see pictures of the above (started by me) :D I know isn't it a hilarious idea! When she said it to me I thought...eeeewww poor teddies...and then I thought of all those stuffed animals that have been beheaded and disembowled by the dogs and it didn't seem too bad  dear oh dear, just proves, we can get used to anything if we see it happen often enough.
