  1. Hahahaha I knew it! I think anyone who knows dogs would have picked it up if they'd really looked at the photos. Well, lucky it's been sorted out because it would have looked pretty silly being included in the flood stories. I do wonder about the person who sent the photos in originally, were they up to mischief?
  2. that's really good, and what lovely water lilies you have growing on your dam.
  3. I think from now on for his birthday you should leave the lock off the fridge.
  4. kerthump! kerthump! kerthump! goes my heart!
  5. Beautiful! I've always loved Andalusians. I've never seen anything but grey here before, I'm so glad to know they have some bays too.
  6. I'm so glad my whippets have not figured out how to open the fridge.
  7. Stan must have thought he'd hit the jackpot. Is that the first time he's raided the fridge? I'm sure it wont be the last if he figures out how to get round the locks.
  8. thankyou both. I'll try to get a photo of Pagans beautiful eyes tomorrow so you can see how lovely she is.
  9. When I was a kid horse meat was sold as horse meat. My mother used to buy it for our cat. I dont know where people think all the knackery horses come from and go to if not from the racetrack and into cans. It's why I will not sell a horse, when their time comes they are put down on my property, and if possible buried on it.
  10. Yep! it's good news all round!! Andrew Turner's just been and both Pagan (my mare) and Kibah the whippet are going well. He thinks Pagan's eye is finally healed, what we have to hope for there is that it doesn't break down again, and Kibahs eye is healing and he says it's not a tumour, just something old dogs get. So I am happy. :D
  11. Andrew's coming any minute now to look at my mares eye and he'll have a quick look at Kibies eye too, so hopefully I will have some good news soon.
  12. Kibahs tumour? by kirislin, on Flickr 26/2/13 5F6A4804dppt by kirislin, on Flickr and today 5/3/13 5F6A4828dppt by kirislin, on Flickr And todays photo. I had to take this one by myself and it's not as clear as the others. I think there's a big change though, I'm just hoping it's still all good. I worry a bit about those veins I can see on the surface, I hope they're a natural part of the healing still. Sorry her eyelashes are in the way a bit. 5F6A4888dppt by kirislin, on Flickr
  13. I'll bet the one you know is related to the one I see at the park here sometimes.
  14. There's a dial with a + and - sign by the view finder. You can adjust it to suit your eyesight. I now need reading glasses so it's very hard for me to see what my photos look like when I check what I've just taken as I'm no good with things close up anymore. I used to have amazing vision, even optometrists were impressed.
  15. That's sounding a bit more positive! I've been wondering how the vets visit went.
  16. there's a lady in my town with one and she was very surprised when I knew what it was. I dont see her very often though and I dont know her name, so I cant tell you where she got it from but I think it's a Victorian breeder. It's a jet black rough or wire haired dog, very cute.
  17. I wonder if you can write your review here. If you do try to make it factual but without emotion, as if you were writing a report. http://www.womo.com.au/reviews/Splish-Splash-Dog-and-Cat-Grooming-Penrith/#.UUENyTeDmSo
  18. We could be wrong, but that's my perception of it. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story eh?
  19. thanks for that, I'd tried to search without success.
  20. They're lovely aren't they. Their temperament sounds really good too.
  21. I'm thinking the same thing. Even the ground the dog is laying on doesn't look like it's been flooded. If it was the grass would probably be all flattened and dead.
  22. In extremely rare cases, identical twins have been born with opposite sexes (one male, one female). In these cases, identical twin boys are conceived, but, during the twinning process, one twin loses a Y chromosome (boys have chromosome type XY while girls have XX). Without a Y chromosome to trigger the production of male sex hormones , this fetus develops as a girl by default, but a girl with only one X chromosome (chromosome type XO). The co-twin is unaffected, and develops as a boy as normal.I read this about humans but i haven't been able to find any thing about it with dogs so do the girls grow up to be 'full' girls with only one X chromosome? I was wondering about that too. Do they have any complications?
  23. It's not really clear the way the story is written, but I'm not sure that the dog is actually lost. That might be its owner hosing it down or taking the photos. The more I look at it I dont think the dog was bloated, I think it's just a typical thick bodied staffy type. For all I know that dog could have just jumped in a mud bath and then be rolling around trying to dry itself. The person hosing it off almost appears to be smiling, although I suppose you would be smiling if a dog you thought was dead came back to life.
