Do you mean micro adjust? That's only if it's front or back focussing. Sounds like it needs a visit to the Canon Doctor

Gapvic And Anyone Else Heres A Few Of My Creations!
Kirislin replied to kritta's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
these are lovely. Glad you're posting here. -
thanks everyone, it gives you an idea of how kooky they all go, especially when we first get there, it's mayhem, whippets in all directions at 100 mph  .
-
Yeah, I reckon our next whippet fun day we should take them rock climbing and abseiling.

We had a whippet beach day at Carrum today. I took lots of photos, I'll post more tomorrow and hopefully Monet and Diva will too, but for now I thought I'd just post these 2. Such graceful creatures whippets...................... cough. It reminds me of Wildebeest crossing the Mara river in Africa, look out for crocodiles below. Sigma 70-200 And Teleconverters - Any Experience?
Kirislin replied to CrazyCresties's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I recall that Bec got an incredible deal for the Sigma 70-200, someone here told her who to contact. It was much cheaper than anywhere else even online sellers. -
Love the caught red handedpawed photo  and it's nice to know I'm not the only one with such opportunistic dogs. Mine dont usually fart much though, it was from sheer gorging that caused it I think.

I often refer to Puck in particular, but the boys in general get the title of the Baddest Dogs in Town, and not without good reason. I do a cook up once a week of a lovely mix of chicken mince, beef heart, or ox cheek and veggies for my whippets. It's cooked over a very low heat and it takes most of the day for me to make it. In the evening I put it into ice cream containers, I usually get 3 1/2 and that lasts me the whole week for 5 whippets. I place them on the bench to cool and then put them in the fridge. Last night I was tired and forgot to put the cooked loaf in the fridge. I went to bed quite early but woke again a couple of hours later and remembered. Actually I could smell the chicken, it smelt pretty good too, that's what reminded me. But I also had a feeling of dread, there's no way the whippets would leave something alone that smelt like that. Uh oh, I go into the kitchen and sure enough there's one upturned container on the floor. I flip it over and there's the sloppy remains of warm greasy chicken mince. I manage to get what's left back into the container, they've eaten about 2/3rds of it. The boys are hovering around hoping to have a bit more, they're both looking very thick around the middle, I tell them to bugger off, they take the hint. So I get up this morning knowing there's a mess for me to clean up, greasy chicken fat, all over the kitchen floor and probably the carpet too, although I cant see it on there yet. The boys are doing their best to help me clean by licking the lino as best they can. Puck looking on folornly as I get to it with hot soapy water, probably thinking to himself what a waste! It's taken 2 buckets of water but I think I've got it all up, until the next time anyway. No breakfast for the boys this morning, and the air is thick with stinky dog farts.

a while ago a friends exhuberant whippet injured her tail and kept breaking it open, spraying blood all over her walls. I told her to just loosely wrap adhesive tape on it and let it fall off naturally, the tape, not the tail. It healed perfectly. If you look closely you'll see it here a typical Lily moment by kirislin, on Flickr

Maddex, The Little Fortunate One

Ooh his eyes will be opening soon, and his ears, that's his next big milestone. I wondered if you were American because you said "a name that fit him" We'd say fitted. It's OK though, I'm not picking on you, it's just that I noticed it and thought to myself, I wonder if this person's from the States. -
He was probably perving down your dress! I love the photos.

Sigma 70-200 And Teleconverters - Any Experience?
Kirislin replied to CrazyCresties's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Yes. Although I haven't used either, I considered it for a while but I've been told, and read that TCs also slow down auto focus, and you wouldn't want that for fast moving wildlife, or in my case, whippets. -
Australias Competitive Camera Retailers
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
do you mean Nikon have dropped their shop retail prices? -
I have ones very similar to this and they work very well. They don't feel that warm to touch but the animals all wanted to sleep on them. When I kicked the younger ones off so the oldies could get on the warm area was plenty warm enough. I had one of them, it doesn't get very warm to touch but I think it kept the whippets warm. It just stopped working after about 2 years though, so now it's just a mattress.

I dont have lightroom but I'm curious, are the presets just effects that other people have worked out on lightroom? Could you work them out yourself and save them somehow?

I've got the 7D and 70-200 2.8 IS, 100mm macro and the 50mm 1.4 I sometimes get tempted to get something wider like the 17-70 or 24-70 but so far have resisted. I'd also love something longer, maybe up to 400mm, but again, I've resisted. I have quite a bit of flexibility with what I have. Meant to say, I could have saved alot of money and not got the IS with my 70-200 I nearly always have it turned off. -
Whoops I never read the other posts before posting, I spilled the beans. well I guessed that must have been what Huga meant, but I had a look on her facebook business page and couldn't find anything. I mustn't have looked carefully enough.

I have a snuggle safe but because the whippets sleep with me, I tend to use it too. I have made a woollen cover for mine, I think if you had an old dog or one that didn't move it might get too warm, even though it comes with a little synthetic cover, I dont think it's enough. Sometimes I still have to move it away. If it had a few layers of blankets between it and the dog it would probably be OK.

I know I can still see them on facebook and Bec is on flickr, not sure about the other 2. I suppose I was just remembering how fun it was when they'd post here, I'm really happy for all 3 that their talents have taken them on the professional route, all well deserved. I'm glad you still post here Huga.

photos by Rocco 'n Ralph, Becandcharch and Ruthless. I guess they've all moved on to bigger and better things.

something to keep in mind, even if you dont want to buy from the sellers listed, armed with their prices for comparison, you can always ask your local retailer if they can match it. :D Which I've just been stupid enough to do, only to be told YES they can. DOH! -
