  1. What beautiful dogs! Your photos really show them off too.
  2. Here's the link to DWI http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/index.asp but I am seriously changing my tune about buying from them for the purchases over $1000 even though in an earlier post I was saying why I thought it was worthwhile, that's changed now due to customs. Have a look at the thread I've just started asking for competitive retailers in Australia, it might be worth you comparing prices with them too before you lash out and spend big bucks.
  3. Diamonds Based in SA (I think)http://www.diamondscamera.com.au/ Camera Pro (Brisbane)http://camerapro.net.au/
  4. after reading about jr_inoz buying a camera from Diamonds who I'd never heard of before it got me wondering who are the other retailers in Australia who offer very competitive prices. Every now and then my fingers start twitching to buy, and if I can no longer fight the urge I hope to get it at the very best price, and now that Customs have cracked down on imports, retail is starting to look like a better option to me again, for the big buys at least. :D So, can we start a list of sellers who offer good value? Perhaps cut and paste would be easiest. Diamonds Based in SA (I think)
  5. That mandrill made the think of Lleyton Hewitt doing that hand thing he used to do.
  6. Currently - the difference in price between a grey import and the one I bought was $287 - minus any tax that might get applied if the box gets stopped by customs on the way in (been happening to DWI customers and their imports lately) - not a lot of difference - and if customs had been applied, would have been the same price I think. Not a huge difference to pay in the scheme of things. (My camera cost $1485 - Diamonds price matched the best online price for a non grey import I found that was advertised that day) A good price I thought. Yep - that is how they looked on the view screen - so don't panic. Wow, I agree, that is a very good price! Yes, you definitely were better off buying where you did. I bought mine grey before Customs started clamping down in imports. I forgot about the 10% now added on to the overall price. Definitely worth shopping around and I just might even go look at Diamonds myself! Never heard of them before. Are they based in SA? I wonder if someone interstate bought from them would they have to post it back if a problem arose, or could they send it directly to Canon? Hmm, I'd like to find a seller as competetive in Vic!
  7. Hahaha he's very funny, do you remember the big green ghost in Ghostbusters, the one that was stuffing his face with sausages, well Nevvie reminds me of him, he just needs to be green.
  8. Hi Snook Thank You i wasnt aware i will remove it now Thanks Again Did u enter would be happy to vote for you as thanks Thanks for the offer but no, I didn't enter. I'd spent a couple of weeks spamming everyone on facebook requesting votes for a competition a friend was entered in and promised them I wouldn't harass them again over a competition for a very long time. My friend won so it was all worth it. :D Was that for the jeep?
  9. I love the baby chimp and gorilla ones the most. I always remember that photo you posted of the mother gorilla and baby. You showed the original and the edited version, it was a fantastic example of how editing can improve a photo and make something that would almost have been a throw away (because of the big pile of poo) into something truely beautiful.
  10. that must have been very disappointing, lucky you were able to take it back. Yep, you certainly take a chance buying grey, but the way I looked at it was that if I was to buy 2nd hand it would be an even bigger risk because it wouldn't be covered at all if there was a fault. Grey market is as cheap as buying 2nd hand but hopefully you get a brand new article and again, hopefully it will be perfect, if not it will at least be repaired, even if somewhat inconveniently.
  11. If you're still looking for a whippet there's a male in Hawkesbury http://www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/services/animal-shelter/animal-shelter-gallery?sq_content_src=%2BdXJsPWh0dHAlM0ElMkYlMkZjb3VuY2lsLmhhd2tlc2J1cnkubnN3Lmdvdi5hdSUyRmFuaW1hbHNoZWx0ZXIlMkZpbmRleC5waHAlM0ZhbGJ1bSUzRGRvZ3MlMjZpbWFnZSUzRFBDQy0zNTIuanBnJmFsbD0x
  12. when I was a kid I used to see a few of them, they were definitely more common back then, but funnily enough I was saying just that to a lady at the park yesterday. She had a Westie.
  13. Have you had your 7D for long? Aren't you happy with it? Do you think the Nikon is better and if so, in what way? That's a big step to change over. If you are interested we're having a whippet fun day at Wandin next month. It might be worthwhile coming along and taking some action photos for practice. I've got a 7D too so we can compare notes.
  14. Try asking over on POTN or is that where you saw about the loose screw. I did try putting my 50mm on my nieces 450D the other day and was shocked at how tight it was, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get it off. I would've thought all the fittings would be the same. Good luck, dont force anything, if you have to take it into a camera shop.
  15. I know, sometimes I just gaze at mine and think, you magnificent beast.
  16. Mine eat the core and all, the seeds are only dangerous if you took the outer covering off them and fed them in large amounts. If you ingest an apple seed it's usually passed intact. My dogs have been eating apples including cores for years now with no ill effects. Dont worry.
  17. Whatever you do, watch out for laser lights, dont shoot into them as it will fry your sensors.
  18. Can everyone who gets their bags please post photos of them, so I can be even more tempted. re the camera not shooting RAW I started with a 400D and I shot RAW with it. You've gone for the same upgrade as I did, 400D to 7D. It's quite a jump, but AWESOME!!!!!!!
  19. Jeepers you've done really well! What sort of tree is that?
  20. I'm surprised you can get prescription meds from overseas, how does that work? Do you have to provide the prescription? How come they dont get seized at customs? Anyway, I went to the chemist and the bloke there said his boss might have an account with Troy (the distributor) and if so might be able to get it in for me but I've got to go back tomorrow when he's in.
  21. I might buy this one from the vet but investigate if my chemist can get it in cheaper in future. My vet is good, I'm sure he'll understand if I try to get it cheaper elsewhere in future. thanks all
  22. I'm wondering if there's a cheaper way to buy prescription drugs for dogs, other than getting them from the vet. I'm going to put Penny on Meloxicam and it's around $110 per 100ml. Does anyone know if there's a cheaper way for me to buy it, legally of course.
