  1. that's such a lovely thing to say Milawe. I think Evolvings second pic might be Pixie Blight, what do you think! It's either Pixie or it might be Noelles whippet.
  2. The orangutan in profile reminds me of the actor Jason Robards.
  3. Wahhh? how can you be unimpressed with them. I cant see how they could be any BETTER!!! They are absolutely stunning Itlby.
  4. That's a committee members whippet so of course it's just doing its bit for the club. We like to see our members putting in.
  5. awwww I just laughed when I saw the one of Feather the escapee dragging her leash. If you right click usually it brings up properties and tells you which lens you used. It doesn't matter, I'm just curious. I think it was your early pics that would have been with mine.
  6. OMG OMG why cant I get shots like that first one of yours! It's alot like the one CM took last time, I love it. Everyone #3 is my little girl Feather, isn't she cute You got a better one of the iggies than me too. Kay will be happy with it. Were any of these with my lens. Thanks for coming, I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself. I got home and collapsed into bed for a while until I got a phone call. Now I'm trying to edit mine. I actually started to nod off, it's a tiring day for me out there in the sun, but geeze it's good fun. :D I meant to say, comparing these pics with other meets where we ran the other way these are so much better with the sun behind us.
  7. I have a feeling I am going to be stuck driving the lure I'm naughty, I shouldn't complain but I do look forward to taking photos.
  8. Yep, tomorrow 11am Healesville greyhound track. predicted to be 24C and sunny.
  9. Tomorrow night will be a "super moon" so called because it's very close to the Earth. I thought it might be a good opportunity for those who are interested to try taking pics of it. The best pics I managed were with my 400D and the cheapie kit lens the 75-300 non IS. I've tried with my new camera and lens without success but I suspect if I'd applied some mozzie repellant I might have been more patient and had a steadier hand.
  10. I found this in flickr and immediately thought of you http://www.flickr.com/photos/31871888@N05/...ith/3216516074/
  11. Yes, I understand, but to me alot of them still look like any number of working cattle dog type crosses we have here. I dont know if kelpies could do the same thing, probably not, but it's interesting how lean and light framed some of those huskies have become to do the job. It was just an observation.
  12. They say they're huskies and I beleive them but to me some of them look like kelpies or kelpie crosses or other working dog crosses
  13. I always say whippets are racist (or perhaps it's breedist) they especially love their own kind. My mare didn't like grey horses, so I suppose she was colourist.
  14. I think the 1000D is the most basic of Canons DSLRs. As Huga said it's a learning curve but if you're are genuinely interested in learning you will, it wont seem like a chore. Some people buy a camera and never get it out of auto. You can choose to do that too and you'll probably still get some fantastic photos. If you want to learn more the camera can take you there.
  15. Grey market are imported and not guaranteed by Canon Australia. If something goes wrong you might have to send the camera back to the place of purchase, which could be Hong Kong or elsewhere, although I think sometimes they have repairers in Australia. DWI is an online seller based (I think in Hong Kong). You can ring or email them to check if a product is in stock. Some people prefer to pay the extra knowing if they have a problem they can get it repaired by Canon. The reason I suggest DWI to you is because you are considering buying 2nd hand anyway and sometimes the new prices from DWI are comparable to buying 2nd hand private, although I realise I've already blown your budget with my 2 suggestions. It's fun spending someone elses money.
  16. You know what? If you are willing to buy 2nd hand obviously you wouldn't get a guarantee, maybe in this case it's worth considering buying from DWI. You would get a new camera but it's grey market, which scares some people off. Here's the Canon 450D body only for $481 Check they actually have them in stock though. I nearly bought this model for a friend only to discover it wasn't in stock. http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...?idProduct=1688 or the 1000D with a kit lens $489 http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...?idProduct=1687 You'd have postage on top of those prices though.
  17. some sweet shots here. Good on you tlc, a friend of mine did the shave too. Gila I noticed the bokeh cover, they look like little hands.
  18. look out dogs, cats, chooks, anything that cant run away, prepare to be photographed again and again.
  19. certainly not macro but taken with my macro lens. I think it's my sharpest lens and I love it! I've cropped these quite a bit and the water (read MUD ) droplets are still pretty sharp, well they are to my failing eyesight.
  20. AF means auto focus. Yes I have the Canon 50 1.4 and mine had auto focus failure which it is known for. If/when it happens again I'd either buy the cheapie nifty fifty cause I've given that lens as a gift to two of my friends and they both love it, or I'd get a Sigma.
  21. I love geckoes, can we see some pics of them please. I wish we had them down here.
  22. When I saw the ellies they were standing at an ugly grey metal gate which didn't make for appealing pics, hence my crop here, it was the only way I could hide most of the gates.
