  1. Mine are out there right now chewing lamb bones, the boys have the neck and the girls have some ribs, I had to trim the fat off the ribs though. Feather needed her teeth cleaned a couple of months ago, she's rising 8 and has never had it done before. They weren't even bad but since she was knocked out for a tooth removal I asked that they be done. All my others have beautiful teeth, Penny who will be 11 in a month or so has perfectly clean teeth. I have learnt from experience though. Some of my whippets in the past had terrible teeth from the crap I fed them when I didn't know any better. Not anymore though.
  2. I'm glad you all think they're enjoying it. ;) I can relax, I just wasn't sure.
  3. a 50mm would give you a wider field of view so you could fit more in, you could use it indoors for portraits. The 100mm requires you to be further away, but I've noticed it seems much sharper than my 70-200 for running shots. I took some of the whippies running the other day and they were really sharp. I might even take it along to our upcoming fun day and try it then.
  4. Actually I love the grainy look, especially in the first of them where just his paws are in focus. I think it enhances it.
  5. bout time this got bumped up I've been using this lens alot more since my 50mm is off at the hospital My gorgeous Puck trying to entice Tag to come and play with him and his Christmas reindeer. Who could resist that lovely face.
  6. how's this little one going, can we have an update with pics please ;)
  7. I couldn't quite decide about this. They are incredibly well trained but sometimes I wondered if they were frightened, the bloke looks like farmer brown, who's just come in from the milking. Anyway have a look.
  8. I can just give mine tablets but prefer to do it the "nice" way. as others have said philly cheese works, I reckon peanut butter would too. If your boy is suspicious try giving him a bit that hasn't got any meds hidden in there first. He'll wolf it down and be hoping for more. Then sneak the meds in the next bit. Hopefully it will be down before he realises.
  9. I'd love to see some pics of it, and I bet I am not the only one!
  10. you sure yours got it from that dog tlc? the incubation period for mine was 11 days, I told the vet and he said that sounds right.
  11. Thanks for that, I think I should probably check with my vet as well. Feather just had another cough so she's definitely not over it yet.
  12. aah OK, I'd better make sure I write it down. Feather is still huffing occasionally, I think the other 2 might be over it but I will bundle them all together, no one goes out while anyone is still coughing.
  13. I've got 5 whippets and 3 have shown symptoms of kennel cough. The first one to get it hasn't coughed at all today. One is still coughing a bit, one never coughed much with it and I haven't heard him do it at all today and my 2 oldest girls never showed symptoms at all. I dont know if that means they just haven't got it yet, or wont get it at all. I dont know if two of the ones who had it but haven't coughed today are over it. I dont want to take them out and infect the whole neighbourhood. Is there a certain time from hearing the last cough that means it's safe to take them out?
  14. I had a litter of 6 puppies get it from their mothers milk. It took 8 days to show and it nearly killed them all. I had to treat all dogs with AB's. That was almost 6 years ago, I dont know if the treatment has changed, I too have heard Drontal fixes it now but I haven't heard that from a vet.
  15. It's tons a fun! Yes I hope you can come.
  16. aww come on, you could go to Healesville sanctuary afterwards and take pics of the birds of prey in flight, or go to the wineries, it's Gods own country here.
  17. Nope, that's the 100mm macro. It's a lovely lens too.
  18. I think the person who saved her was incredibly brave from the account given. I wonder how the poor woman is today.
  19. Our little whippet social racing club is having another fun day April 18th at the Healesville greyhound track. If anyone wants to come along and practice taking fast action shots you will be most welcome. Just thought I'd mention it here.
  20. You might have mixed me up with someone else, I didn't ask a question, I only commented that strength and aggression was a lethal combination.
  21. Must have been an incredibly strong powerful dog to do that. What a lethal combination, strength and aggression.
  22. It's a great way to get their attention isn't it.
  23. wow, from her description she sounds like a real saint. (Insert tongue in cheek emoticon here)
