These photos would be a wonderful promotion for GAP. Have you thought about sending them copies. Larissa is a member here.

I sold something on Redbubble, much to my surprise, I dont even advertise my stuff. I sold a card and I am going to get a whole .35c profit, so I might only be shouting you all iced water.

Have you heard back from Canon about that beautiful photo of yours they wanted to use? I am really hoping it's good news.

and they say sheep are dumb, I think this one is clever and resourceful. Great pic too!

Walking Through Vic Market Last Sunday
Kirislin replied to newfsie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Not sure if they're allowed, many years ago, almost 30 now I used to see an elderly gentleman with a blind poodle that used to wander trhough the food section. He used to let the dog loose and I could see it sniffing for where he was. It carefully naviagated its way through the crowds. I took my whippets there too but I cannot remmber if I went through the indoor food halls, I certainly went throught the outdoor sections though and never got told off. It wouldn't surprise me if it's alot stricter now though. -
Goldies Behaviour When Husband Comes Home?
Kirislin replied to Snowball's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our first dog used to grab our hands and cart us round the yard too. He was a big GSD and I was only 3 or 4 so my whole hand would go in his mouth. I didn't like it because he'd give me back a very slimy slobbery hand but if I tried to resist he would just grip a bit tighter. It didn't frighten me, he was a lovely dog but it was messy. Now though, almost 50 years later I look back with fondness. -
Someones Not Having A Good Friday ..
Kirislin replied to becandcharch's topic in General Dog Discussion
Didn't Bec take the photo? Is it already doing the rounds in emails? Gorgeous pics, he is such a cute little fella even though he looks like he's deliberately exposing himself. -
I might have found something in his wrist on his gammy leg. I could feel some movement and hear a faint clicking on that one but he didn't seem concerned about it, and I still dont understand why I can hear it on carpet but not on lino, I wouldn't have thought the tiny bit of give on the carpet would make such a difference.
-
Below the hock would be my guess. Try holding his foot steady and manipulating the hock. OK Dr PF, I will give it a try and report back. Not just yet though, he's sunbaking outside.
-
I've tried to look and feel and move his legs, he shows no concern or discomfort, it's got me stumped. A ligament is what I am imagining it might be PF but I just cant work out where or why.

I've noticed the last couple of weeks when Puck walks on carpet there's a funny clicky noise coming from one of his legs or feet. I think it 's the back right but I am still not sure. It sounds like it might be a hock joint. The strange thing is it disappears when he walks on the lino. I've inspected his feet and nails to emlinate them, no sticky stuff on his paws that might grab the carpet, no grabby frayed nails ...... I am bamboozled by this, he'll be walking on the carpet and it's going click click click but when he goes onto the lino, without changing pace, it magically disappears. What could it be DOL detectives? It's driving me

I've seen this before but it always makes me laugh.

all those puppy pics are just lovely!

I loved it too. I think the hardest part for me was leaving puppy alone when I worked full time. This was especially hard at one place I was renting. There was no dog fencing so I locked my little whippet puppy in a stable and knew that she probably howled all day. It's amazing thinking back what I did back then that I would never do now. When I bred my 2 litters I had to smile to myself when I thought I wouldn't have sold a puppy to someone like me, who didn't have safe fencing and who would have to leave the puppy alone all day. Yet Kiri survived her puppy hood just fine and grew into the most wonderful dog, she's the first part of my cybername. When I got Penny I thought I'll start out right this time, she's sleeping in the laundry. So I made a warm cosy bed for her and she screamed non stop till about 3am when I finally relented and took her to bed with me. She slept soundly then, only problem was she insisted on sleeping with her gorgeous warm bald tummy draped across my neck. It felt nice but it wasn't comfy or practical. I persistently moved her off and she just as persistently climbed back on. She won. Thankfully she grew out of that. When I bred my first litter I put them outside when I weaned them. They had a fantastic set up but they quickly learned to escape it, I had underestimated a 6 week old puppies ability to jump and climb. Of a morning I would creep out as quietly as I could and put their brekky down, hoping to run back inside before they woke. I'd bolt inside and shut the door and they would leap and jump at the windows squealing and crying to be let in. They reminded me of little moths fluttering at the window, their tiny paws pattering on the glass. Of course I would stupidly let them in, and in their joy and excitement they'd all start peeing and pooing and I'd be running around trying to get them out again before they did. I love the gentle training of puppies and praise when they get it right, seeing the penny drop when they understand what you mean, and how hard they try to do the right thing, and how cheeky and naughty and funny they can be. The bond that grows when we spend so much time together and become a team. aaah thanks for reminding me of how much fun they are.

It seems almost too good to be true then. Caution. Might be fair dinkum, might not.

Itby, I dont know what you are worrying about, your photos are amazing. Are those landscapes HDR? I think that's what it's called.
-
are they new or second hand? OK, judging by the prices they're second hand. As long as it's clean, no fungus and working properly and hasn't had so much use it's nearly worn out it's probably a good price. That's the Canon, I've no idea about the Nikon.

weeeeeeee doing the happy dance! thanks!

I absolutely love my Canon 400D. It's superceded model now, there's the 450 and the 500 since, and I suspect the 500 is about to be outdated. Even so, these are all brilliant cameras. They might be a bit intimidating for a beginner at first but you will get the hang of them pretty quickly. If it wasn't for my obsession with super fast action shots of my whippets running towards me head on at 50ks per hour I would have been eternally happy with my 400D. I would recommend it or any of the later versions to anyone starting out. It's not too fancy but has enough features to allow you some creativity while still being pretty user friendly.

wow, thanks Ash, not sure if you've mentioned my pics before, they're usually pretty ordinary. I will go back and crop it a bit more, I wanted to keep the tiny wasp in the pic, it is in the upper left. edit OK I ditched the wasp. Cropped alot off, please tell me if this still fits the rule of thirds

Hey Annie, do think he might have been saying, can you show her this, see the hole, she has to drop the food down there, aim for the hole.
-
good to hear.

Ah yes, another thing I forgot to mention. Get them used to being brushed, dont let them bite or play with the brush, just get them used to letting you brush them. I see so many long coated breeds and x bred dogs with the most awful matted, stinking, flea ridden coats because they were bought as cute little fluff balls but no thought was given to grooming them throughout their lives. Please get them and yourself used to it now. Every day, brush them. Good luck with your puppies.

Hi Jeanie, I would suggest separate feeding bowls, dont just put one bowl down with enough for two as you wont be sure each is getting the right amount. Have structured feeding times. For puppies that age I fed mine 3 times a day. You need to clean the area that they've piddled in thoroughly and then wipe down with white vinegar to neutralise the amonia smell or they will continually go back there. Sounds like you need to take them out more often for toileting too. Use a command when they are actually doing their wees and eventually they will understand that when you say that word,or command they have to do their business. Lots of praise when they get it right too.
