  1. I have spoken to a few people who say there is quite a difference. We will see.... PLUS! I got some $$ to put towards it from Canon (EOS campaign) and a 580EX Speedlite Oh! Oh! come on spit it all out, what did they pay for your masterpiece and have they spoken to you yet to work out about the actual ad. You need to update us all. I have to go find out what a 580EX speedlite is now.
  2. thanks for that. sometimes I think I'd like to live somewhere like that, it would need to be very isolated though. anyway, here's some I just took of dopey Tag with his cabbage leaf. nom nom nom nom.
  3. I dont know if you'll see much difference with the 1.4 compared to the 1.8. maybe not so much in the actual photo but more in the use, quicker AF and better build.
  4. My fault!!!!! me!!!!!! no!!! I do know about their drop down boxes. if you dont want any of those things you must click no on each drop down box otherwise it will add them on. If you really do want the Canon, if it was me, I'd be tempted by the mack warranty at least, knowing how temperamental this damn lens can be. I have got a filter on mine, it's a Hoya, but that's up to you. Just remember, if you dont want them, click NO. edit, I think the diamond covers more stuff. I dont know much about filters, I took the salesmans advice when I got mine, it's a UV.
  5. Thanks Pete. here's a couple more, just imagin being a bunny rabbit and knowing this was bearing down on you. Plenty of incentive to run.
  6. that's interesting, who lives in those sheds? Is it legal or do the council come along every few months and try to move them on. I'd love to know more about them.
  7. You're gonna need a bigger car! They look like big softies.
  8. Isn't nature just the most amazing thing, there's a terrible beauty about those photos. The lightning in the clouds reminded me of Black Saturday, that's a bit like what it looked like over my house that awful day. Those poor people and animals though, how can they breathe, and what will the animals eat, everything is covered in ash.
  9. they're great dogs amypie, you should get one. There's a few whippet people in WA who seem keen to do this. Why dont you think about getting together, you could start a fun club as we have an not be too strict if other breeds come along, which we've also done. We promote ourselves as a whippet club but sometimes another breed or cross breed comes along and we let them have a run too. If there's not enough whippets in WA maybe you could just be a sighthound club or even broader than that and allow all breeds. You could try looking for greyhound training tracks or if you are really lucky an actual race track which is what we use. In the US and UK they often just use a park or farmers field to hold meets if they have their own drag lure. Our club started up when 4 of us were walking our whippets and started talking about it and it's gone on from there. Why dont you all get together and give it a go.
  10. I just fed my dogs some ecopet that a friend left behind. I've used it in the past and think it's a good product but I've cooked for my dogs now for years so haven't fed it to them for a long time. I chopped it into medium chunks thinking they'd have the good sense to chew it first. Silly me! It's much firmer than the loaf I cook that they are used to and both Penny and Kibah gulped and swallowed too soon. Kibah started to choke and really frightened me and Penny started to whimper, I think she got a cramp. Kibah sicked up a bit and now seems OK and was able to finish her dinner and Penny improved after a tummy and back rub but it was really scary for a while there. I've learnt my lesson, not criticising the product at all, but will make sure I chop it smaller in future if they're not used to it.
  11. bertandsally and redangel, all I can say is, you both have excellent taste, but sorry, you cant have them.
  12. Here's a few more, these were taken by Pete not me. Kibah in front and Feather flying on the left. Feather leaves Tex in her wake. Tex isn't a big whippet himself but you can see he's bigger than Feather and Kibah, they're tiny. and lure killer Feather
  13. Yep, my 2 little blue girls do. Then I have Tag and Puck, brothers who weigh 18kgs each, and all are pedigrees! They couldn't be more different. thanks all, for looking and admiring my darling girls, I think they're pretty fantastic.
  14. thanks everyone, I think they're pretty amazing too, all 9 kilos of them.
  15. She is 10 years old and look at her go. She is the one in front. I discovered I'm pretty good at multi tasking too. I was extremely frustrated at not being able to take many photos last Sunday because I was driving the lure, so when my friends ran my own 2 little girlies Feather and Kibah for me and I was still stuck driving I decided if I was going to get photos of them I'd have to do that too, so I did! I took these pics with my new camera and massive heavy lens while I was also driving the lure! I had to stand sideways and balance the lens on my shoulder while also operating the drag lure. On the left is Feather, Tex is in the middle and Kibah, at 10 years old running her dear little heart out beat the other 2. What a star she is. L to R Tex Feather and Kibah and just a couple more of my darlings Kibah in the red collar, Feather in the leather.
  16. You could get some serious camera and lenses for that. Have a look on POTN, the Canon enthusiasts forum and see the sort of pics people are taking, or have a look on flickr too, you can search by camera there to see photos.
  17. hahaha good action shot. You wouldn't want him too near your camera with that hose. This would be a great idea if we have another movement challenge in future too.
  18. I know a woman from walking at the park whose dog Razor had awful fungal infection and she'd spent a fortune at the vet trying to clear it up. I suggested bathing in Betadine and she came back a few days later and thanked me cause it worked, so I'll say again, try Betadine. hope you have as much success as Razors mum did with it.
  19. Our next day is planned for Sunday June 20th. I always confirm it closer to the day though just to be sure. I'd love you to come Bec, I am sure you'd get some amazing photos.
  20. Oh no, only muzzled when racing. We dont even insist they be muzzled else where on the track grounds, just when they're actually on the track to run.
  21. I cant say it will never happen, there's always a chance of injury with dogs running so fast but I think a straight grass track is about the safest. My whippets are more likely to injure themselves running at the park. You take a risk in anything you do.
