  1. I dont know that they'd make good pets. They have been bred to work/hunt as a pack for so many generations. They're very active, and big. I knew one bloke who had one, it was too strong for him, he never let it off the lead, it pulled like crazy and I felt sorry for it.
  2. Bahahaha Im a dumbo! ;) NICE WORK!! Do you have it already???? LOL You crack me up. Yup, it's cool, but it's a steep learning curve, it does so much it's kinda scary.
  3. I made it invisible, it's still there no one else read this, it's only for Bellatrix and here's your yummy lens mmmmmmmmmmmm noice http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...p?idProduct=946 The lens I'd like purely because I think it looks luscious is the 85mm 1.2 http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...?idProduct=1469
  4. I'll just whisper it to you. 7D dont tell anyone.
  5. I know, but I had it for 5 days (on hire) and I almost cried when I had to hand it back. But I do love my 100mm 2.8 macro! Are you selling your camera to upgrade??
  6. how can it be your fav, you haven't got one. I only have 3 now that I use and at the moment I am not craving for anymore. I think I love all three equally, the 50 1.4, the 70-200 2.8 IS and the 100mm macro. I have 3 other lenses but I will be selling 2 with my beloved 400D and I dont use the other one so it really should go too.
  7. But if it's cheap, the other ones probably are too. Maybe you should get a different focal length.
  8. Unless you really find the 1.8 isn't working for you keep using it till it dies, I dont know that the image quality is that much less. Have you seen these threads? the 1.8 (nifty fifty) http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=186207 the 1.4, I've got this one. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=139085 the super dooper expensive 1.2 http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=307389 and the sigma 50 1.4 which is reputed to have better colour and bokeh than the Canon. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=527827
  9. that bear is the colour of a weimeraner. hahaha
  10. Thanks, he's got a sweet face hasn't he. I am most definitely a whippet/sighthound person through and through but I can certainly see the appeal of these guys when they look like him.
  11. yep, thanks Kempe, the vet has told me the same thing about keeping calm and not restraining him, just make sure he doesn't injure himself by his surroundings. What I am wondering though is that he doesn't appear to have had one for quite a while now, although I realise he might have when I am not around, but I am hoping they've stopped. I am just not sure if it's safe to assume he's most likely over them. I somehow doubt it but I was hoping against hope that it might be the case.
  12. He woke me up in the middle of the night and he was dizzy, confused and walking like a drunk. Then, a couple of days later I came home to find my big heavy televison knocked onto the floor, I very much doubt it was rough play with the two boys, I suspect he'd had a fit and knocked it, then a third time he woke me in the middle of the night much the same as the first time. I've had a horse who had fits and I know how they're in a confused state afterwards. When I described it to my vet he agreed with me but as I haven't actually seen him fitting I am only 99.99999% sure.
  13. About a year ago I think Tag had a fit, I didn't see it but shortly afterwards he was acting odd. I took him to the vets the next day but he just said make a note of it and if he has more to take him back. Tag might have had two more, again I didn't actually see anything but his behaviour made me think that's what happened. Now everythings been fine, nothing that I know of anyway for probably 9 months. Does that mean I can relax or will there always be this cloud over my boy, waiting, wondering, worrying if it's going to happen again. here's my gorgeous bubba
  14. No I think the one you posted is online, which means you have to add postage on top, so yours would cost even more. Is JB a long way from you, too far to travel, otherwise it's the better deal.
  15. http://www.cameracentral.com.au/shop/produ...11c75ca71fb8258 Is this it? I am also considering my first and wondering where to start. DO you need to be a Mensa to figure it out? I'm not technologically minded... No, you can start out in full auto so it's basically a fancy point and shoot. Then as you get a bit more confident, and read the manual of course you will start to get out of auto and want to have more control over your photos. You will grow with it. Yep that is the same kit, why not see if JB still have it on special, it's cheaper through them.
  16. It's the saddest thing. I dont think the GRV keeps records of how many greyhounds are born and destroyed every year, it would be bad publicity for them. I wish there were more restrictions on breeding. Make it performance based for the bitches as well so people wont view them purely as a vehicle to carry the dogs contribution. Not sure if I am explaining myself properly here, generally a dog doesn't go to stud unless he's performed very well on the track, but often people will use any bitch to get a litter from.
  17. I didn't realise just how small he is till I saw your Westie with him. He's a beautiful puppy and they're lovely photos.
  18. Norman was at the Anzac day parade yesterday too. I asked if I could take his photo and his mum was delighted because it was his birthday! so Happy Birthday Norman.
  19. A Herd of Whippets consisting of my 5 and I met up with another friend who has 3, one of which I bred, Muffin who is Kibahs daughter and Feathers sister. Stitch in foreground, then from L - R Muffin, Penny, Tag, Puck, Tex, Feather and Kibah. Hang about you lot. Something I must get used to is trying a higher ISO and smaller f/stop so I could've got them all in focus.
  20. yes I stay. Only once I left and it wasn't choice and I regretted it afterwards. I personally feel it's my obligation to stay with them, but I understand not everyone feels that way.
  21. I wouldn't be going in and blowing the whole $5000 when you're just starting out. If you really can afford that much but are still relatively inexperienced with a DSLR buy a good entry level now with good IS kit lenses and put the remainder of the money in an interest bearing account for when you feel ready to add to your lenses or upgrade your camera, which you might even find you dont need to do. Mavericks misson just bought a really good kit from JB look here. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=194411 Hang on a minute, I've just realised you've posted in the 50mm thread, does that mean you've already got your camera?? If so come on fess up, what did you get?
  22. Oh boy, you're gonna love using that camera!! It looks like you've already got the rule of thirds in mind too, which I never seem to have. They're really sharp and clear too. How scary looking is that brown bear, "you lookin at me?"
  23. thankyou very much, I was so unsure about them. I really wanted to get the handshake but it didn't last long and I only had that tiny gap as you can see, I didn't know if it was enough. Same with the lady looking at his medals, I had to crop alot out of both and I know you wanted this to be more about composing the photo, not cropping to suit. I only had my 50mm though and I had to be conscious of not being intrusive as well. I think this has really been one of the most helpful challenges to me so far. I dont give enough thought to composition and really it's the basis for every good photo. Maybe the penny is finally starting to drop for me, thanks again for all the challenges Ash.
  24. I dont think hyenas are related to dogs or wolves, they're more closely related to stoats and weasels I believe.
