Congrats DMA, it's infectious isn't it. I dont know what that camera model is but I hope you'll have lots of fun with it, I am sure you will. Yeah come on Busterlove, what did you end up getting. I hope you are reading the manual right now.

Nah, none of them are really focussed or sharp, and my DOF was too shallow. I needed more time to play around but I was busy driving the damn lure! I'd like another go and next time I wouldn't try to capture a sequence of them running towards me, which is what I was doing yesterday, I think I might just try to focus on one place and start clicking when they hit that spot. I also need to try some side on shots or at least 3/4 angles. I think it's a bit of trial and error, well, I've got the error bit out of the way.

Yep, I've said a number of times I am unhappy particularly with the 75-300 NONIS that came with my camera. I think the kit lenses are a bit better now but I really think they went out fo their way to give the crappiest lenses possible with the 400D kit. that's why I recommend buying the body and then deciding what lenses you want and buying them separately.

Can I Have Some Opinions On This Please
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh well, not many opinions, maybe I am being over sensitive but I think she is encouraging the GSD to be jealous and I think she will have problems in the future. I had a friendship end over a jealous GSD whose owner encouraged its behaviour. It ended with me being bitten on the leg by the GSD because I was in its way when it attacked my whippets for walking into the kitchen. -
I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion on the behaviour of the dogs and the dialogue of the owner.

wow Ripley, she likes to pose for the camera doesn't she, she even knows how to pout. You've taken great photos of her I think my fave is the last one.
-
Not quite Annie but I didn't have much chance. I was hoping to be able to devote myself to getting pics but even with the new lure I was stuck with being the main driver. I think as the rest of the committee learn to drive it I will have more chances. Here's a couple of pics, no where near the quality of Julie Wards though. I can only dream of getting shots like that I think.

beautiful but they're missing something, dogs!
-
so you have to 3 images of the same thing, that means it cant be used for anything that's moving, no action shots right, but how come Ash has the jumping dog and she says that HDR....I think. I am confused.
-
OK, so explain in moron simple terms what this is.

You know what they say, you only hurt the ones you love. She was just showing how passionate she is for you.

awww poor girly, so why was she locked in there in the first place?

"seniors Week" At Best Friend Holiday Retreat
Kirislin replied to anniek's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
What fantastic photos! You've really captured them having a ball haven't you. -
I have 2 house guests this weekend. I've only recently picked them up from their home and both are a bit worried, not helped by my jealous lot who aren't exactly making them feel welcome. This is little Jodie Whippet. both shot in manual TV 1/100 AV 1.8 ISO 400 FL 50mm and her mate Garcon, who's owner assured me he doesn't wee in the house. I beg to differ! I showed him a bed he can lay on but so far he wont budge off the kitchen floor.....except to piddle against the wall in the hallway. TV 1/100 AV 1.8 ISO 400 FL 50mm

Iltby, did you steal Ruthless' Angel?
-
I think the dog should've been wearing a hoodie here too.
-
I better go check it out. Well done to you!
-
yeah right - I'm trying to seek out slow dogs, or at least normal sit/stay type of dogs :D c'mon Annie, I'll shout you a sausage!
-
I am not confident of getting anything like her photos but it's certainly what I've been lusting after all this time.
-
Yes she's so good. Freaked me out for a moment as I thought you meant the other Julie Ward photographer who was murdered in Kenya a couple of years ago. Anyways, this Julie Ward has a great Smugmug site at www.juliewardphotogaphy.com - and I mention this for the bird people - Ripley etc - as she also has some nice macaw etc. shots. Another good whippet-owning pro photographer (also USA) is Julie Poole. Her whippets are Champions plus have all their coursing qualifications. Her website is www.juliepoole.com - the Animoto slideshow there of whippets is nice. Yep, she's on a whippet forum I am on.
-
Yep, a Nikon 80-200 2.8 which is encouraging because I've just recently bought the Canon 70-200 2.8 in the hope of being able to take pics like this. we're having our next whippet fun day this coming Sunday so I am really hoping I can get some decent photos. I just hope my camera can keep up. No doubt if I get anything half decent I will post here but I'd be hard pressed to match those photos.

I am always going on about wanting to get running shots of whippets. This is what I mean. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpo...mp;postcount=42 Edited to add if any Victorian DOLers want a chance to photograph running dogs you are welcome to come along to the Healesville Greyhound track this Sunday between about 11.30am and 2pm or thereabouts.

Red Rash On Belly And Under Arms
Kirislin replied to VinnieStaff's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep 2 of mine have got it this year too. Contact allergy from the grass. I washed them both with allergroom and then rubbed betadine on. I left it a bit too long though, I think they'd had it a few days before I realised and Tag has little pustules. I am going to do it again today, hopefully it will settle it down and dry it out. -
Well, I suppose this is a portrait of sorts because it typifies Puck and the inquisitve, resourceful boy he is. The Orchard Thief. He's probably thinking, foolish woman, your pathetic net will not stop me. And he was right, it didn't

I'm loving seeing everyones photos. I haven't been participating, my back is bad at the moment and the thought of crouching down, and even worse, getting up again is just too much for me right now but I am living through your photos and they're wonderful.
