I do the same as you but alot of people think it's a bad idea. something about risking damaging the camera but I dont really understand why, no one has explained it.

I took this a while ago but I think it qualifies as backlit. The subject is my pretty girl Penny, just a few days after her 10th birthday.

How is she now?

Worms are amazing creatures, so bloody resilient. I didn't know that's what roundworms do but I did wonder why it is that puppies have them even when the mother is wormed. Interestingly, I've bred two litters and the first litter was bottle fed exclusively for the first week or two of their lives. I dont recall a problem with roundworm in them. The second litter was on mum from day one and they had roundworm, even though I regularly wormed the bitch before they were born and wormed the pups every two weeks afterwards.

wow, there's some amazing photos in here. I was rewarded this morning while collecting firewood in my paddock. The only problem was my models wouldn't quite co operate enough to let me go right up to them to set exposure, anyway here's my first attempts at backlighting. That's my house in the background, they came right up, this often sets the whippets off but I think/hope they're getting used to them now.

Do you know if this applies to 2nd hand stuff too?

I dont know if I will buy anything but it's just that the $$ is good right now, if ever you were going to take the plunge, now would be a good time. I suppose my wish list would be a 1D Mk lll for the super fast FPS to catch those whippies and maybe the 70-200 2.8, dont know if I'd get the IS, an 85L simply because it's the most beautiful lens I think I've ever seen (which I realise is a really stupid reason), but this is JUST a wish list, a tripod, ummmmmmmmmmm, that's all I can think of for now.

With the Aussie $ strengthening against the US I really think if I was to upgrade I could save alot if I bought from the US. I dont know the ins and outs though, do you have to pay duty on top of the purchase, if so, does it also apply to 2nd hand? If I insure the goods am I covered for the full amount if they get lost or damaged. What about guarantees? I'm sure there's stuff I haven't thought of. Anyone who has experience please chime in.

sometimes lamb necks have a huge lump of fat in them, was it like that, I always try to remove that fat lump for fear of pancreatitis. I hope you boy is feeling better soon.

Eating a banana skin must be pretty unpleasant though ;) . If I take banana skins outside to put in the worm farm or in a birds nest fern she starts jumping around with her eyes popping out, thinking they're for her. Tilly will eat just about anything though...the only thing she draws the line at is eating citrus and lettuce. :D :D Mine dont stop there, they love oranges and mandarins and even a lemon will be tasted, and its juice will be drunk if it's the left over salad dressing, lettuce is good too.

Kibah goes bananas over bananas. fainty girl mine like the skins too when they go all black and sweet smelling, I think the sugar must come out in them.

Obviously I didn't take this for the challenge but does this qualify as backlit? It was an unplanned shot, the birds were flying overhead and I just pointed the camera straight up and clicked. It's the first photo I've managed to alter as well, there was a weird UFO thingy in it and I took it out in DPP. I couldn't fix those spots though, I tried but you could see where I'd doctored it so I thought it best to leave them.
