Don't Think It's Poisoning, Do You?
Kirislin replied to suezija's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'd be getting a second opinion. Have you felt him over for painful areas? Is it possible he has a back injury, or pain somewhere else? I realise it doesn't explain the clotting but you suspect it's something else anyway, dont stop looking just yet. Poor little fella, I hope he's on the mend soon. -
I feed them but I always cut as much of the thick fat off that I can. I dont want a bout of pancreatitis.

Ooh! that car looks like it's had the treatment by that bloke who plastinates people. It's like a car anatomy class.

what a coincidence, I think I was pondering a tripod at the very moment you wrote this. I dont know anything about them, there seems to be a few different types even within the same brand. please tell me a bit about them, what you bought and why.

Dog Fight, What To Put On Punture Wounds?
Kirislin replied to Missymoo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
you poor thing, it's awful when they fight, it really leaves you shaken. I would be watchful of puncture wounds, they can become infected. The other thing to watch for is the bruising, the damage might be worse than it initally looks. Might be best to be on the safe side and take them to the vets. do you know what triggered the fight? -
You're very clever Terra, you sure Medicine is right for you, I think you should be studying Arts, you definitely have a natural talent for it anyway. Maybe you can be both.

Cut In Paw After Glass Removed
Kirislin replied to Mum to Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The vet did say he x-ray'd it. I know, but x rays didn't find a bone fragment in my elbow until years later, they dont guarantee to find everything and I wouldn't be surprised if they could miss a tiny sliver of glass. I am not a vet though, just a sceptic. Perhaps you should just ask the vet how long it should take to heal. -

I would definitely be keeping it covered and put something drawing on it. I wouldn't be walking him yet either if he's still sore. Sounds like there's still something in there to me. -
Help! My 4mo's Puppy Swallowed 2 Lamb Ribs!

You might be able to tell by his poo. Often stools with alot of bone content have a pale olive green colour when fresh that turns to white when dried by the sun. -
Cut In Paw After Glass Removed
Kirislin replied to Mum to Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Gee, I know it's not what the vet said to do but I'd be inclined to bandage it with a poultice just in case there's a miniscule bit of glass left. I certainly wouldn't be letting him run with a hole in his foot, I can just see dirt being forced into it again. -

Re buying from the US, does import duty apply to 2nd hand items?

I cant really advise on the lens but I am curious about the cheque in US $. Wont you have to pay a fee to get it converted to Aussie $$

If the macro is in good condition that is a fantastic price for it. -
did you get THAT on camera?

You know, in a way that's a good thing. I understand it doesn't give you alot of time to prepare yourself and adjust, but for him, life's been great all along, and only at the very end is he in discomfort, better than being like that for months.......

Hooray hooray, someone else can see it! I was getting disheartened cause I thought I was the only one.

a combination of the challenge and my 3D experiment. You have to go crosseyed and just stare. You need to focus on the seam in the middle and relax your eyes until you eventually see 3 images. Concentrate on the middle one and it should look 3d

Yep they can get terrible injuries when the wire is fixed, either an up and back loop or a twisty course were it goes around pulleys. They can also get injured in straight or circuit racing but I think the chances are greater with a fixed cable. I am on a US whippet forum and you read about some awful injuries there.

From your description of him, he sounds like he's in pain with his arthritis and not a happy boy. Does he enjoy anything at all now? If so, why wait until his life is competely 100% miserable. Allow him to go out while there's still a bit of pleasure. He is at the stage of life I dread for mine and you have my sympathy. I hope you can do the right thing by him.

Farrr out!!! you are all doing amazing stuff. Shell you've got some good buddies there if you can get them to go out to a cemetary in the middle of a cold winters night and lay on the ground!!!! Fabulous results.
