Yep, I had great plans for one shot that looked great in my head but putting in into practice was impossible, even though I didn't imagine it would be that hard. Maybe we're taking it too seriously, it's supposed to be fun.

Keep it as a surprise and I can guarantee they will be delighted with it.

Ugh, I know all about that!

I made 3 different calendars last year and gave them as Christmas presents. Everyone who got one was thrilled with it. They make great gifts for friends/family if you have taken pics that mean something to them. I have to start thinking about this Christmas now.

they might be too small or big

I think there's a bit about uploading your art then click on calendars. Not sure though, it's been a while since I did one.

Poor boy, it's good you got it out and that he hasn't shown alot of symptoms, meaning hopefully he hasn't been too uncomfortable with it. It's times like this I think too, aren't you glad you have a camera. So many of my animals have passed with almost no photos of them.

I'm just itching to get out there but the weather is dreadful here and I think it could be several days before I am prepared to lay on the ground to try for the whippet shots I want. Also, dont have a mono or tripod and this thing weighs a ton. I have visions of ending up looking like those crabs that have one massive arm and one normal one.

I've found, well, my opinion that my 400D isn't much good over 400 ISO.

This looks terrifying, it's an amazing shot!

I haven't had much chance to use it yet, it only arrived on Friday and it's been terrible weather ever since. This is the lens I hope hope hope will give me those action running shots of my whippets I've been craving to get ever since I bought my 400D early last year. I am not sure the camera will be able to focus fast enough though, the spending fest might not be ov er just yet, hence my reason for asking about the 50D.

These birds, Currawongs, Magpies and Butcherbirds are all from the same family, characterised by those whopping great beaks. I took these photos within about 2 minutes, all on the same fence post. First is a juvenile Pied Currawong then a male White backed Magpie, he recently lost his mate she was looking ill for a long time and now I dont see her any more. the Grey Butcherbird, this is the male and lastly his little wifey. "they've eaten it all " dont worry, she got some too.

Yup, that was the day with you, as I was saying goodbye to Annie we went past there. We have to do that again now that the weather is improving dont you think. I know Annie wants to.

Help...he Won't Come When I Call Him
Kirislin replied to vellela's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I just started it at the park, Puck learnt almost immediately, all the others expect Penny were very easy, but Penny has always been an independent girl and I had to work on her a bit more, but it was always at the park. I didn't need intensive work at home, although I think that's probably the better way to do it in hindsight. -

I've recently been sprucing up my dogs recall as they could occasionally have selective deafness. On the advice of a professional dog trainer I started using a whistle, just the kind you see around umpires necks at sports ovals. The trick is to treat them EVERY single time they hear it. I've also started buying 1kg blocks of Coles el cheapo tasty cheese just to use as treats, much cheaper that liver treats. I cut it into tiny cubes before we go out of a morning. I was amazed at how quickly they responded to it and since I've got them coming well I now walk all 5 at the park together. I used to have to walk my dogs in 2 shifts cause I couldn't have managed them all together. Now every one who knows them is amazed at their immediate response to the whistle. The one disadvantage I've noticed is that since my success with it, another person has started using it on her dog, so every time she blows her whistle my dogs come running. I still reward them though, it's what makes it work, I dont want them to start thinking it's not worth coming to me. the other day I was walking them and there was a school footy match happening near by, yep, every time the umpire blew his whistle they came running to me, and of course they got a treat. I would recommend this method, it's great. -
I wonder how they work, obviously not batteries so how does the sensor react to light. hmmmmmm

any idea how old it is Possum?

My work was having a chuck stuff out day and I grabbed this out of the rubbish. It's a light meter I suppose but I've no idea how it's used. I remember Rocco talking about them once but I kinda thought they'd be redundant now with modern cameras. When would you need one.
