  1. Lovely pics Annie but I love this blokes face, he is so expressive. Those big googly eyes, sweet.
  2. dismal failure I have to come up with something else.
  3. If you have a Canon you might be able to do it with DPP that would've come with your camera.
  4. cant wait for dark, I've set up my bokeh shot. It looks funny cause I dont have a tripod so my camera is sitting on a box which is on top of a stool. I've already focussed it, I just have to hope the whippets dont knock it in the meantime. Oh I so hope this works. It looks good in my head, whether or not it will in real life remains to be seen.
  5. Here's a photograph archive of both. Canon http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=138395 Sigma http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=424175 You might have to go through a few pages, quite a few pics have been removed.
  6. I've been mucking around with it in daylight too. It's a pretty effect with light glinting throught the leaves.
  7. It's good isn't it. Cant help you Carebear but I would guess the 1.8 is similar to Canons, cheap but still takes good pics, Canons is fondly called the nifty fifty. Hopefully a Nikon person can help you out.
  8. You're taking some great photos! I really think Canon and Nikon should be paying US for this thread. I wonder how many have bought a 50mm after seeing some of the pics here.
  9. it only shows as a photo to me, it's a nice photo though.
  10. Well, there's the first power play. congrats, so it's full frame from now on. I wonder if you'll see a huge difference.
  11. You lucky girl. What were you using before that beauty?
  12. Yesterday while in Melbourne. a Carlton street.
  13. Looks like you've got a good camera, they're gorgeous photos.
  14. Or if you buy the 1000D online it's much cheaper http://www.d-d-photographics.com.au/canoneos1000d.htm
  15. How is little Miss Fishy Breath this morning. I hope she's OK.
  16. I got mine, it's a groovy little box isn't it!
  17. A lens I fell in love with purely on looks, (which I know is completey stupid) is the 85mm f/1.2L I lust after this lens and have been known to just gaze at it because it's so beautiful. Here's its archive http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=224258
  18. Here's the sample archive for the 70-200 http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=138395 and here's the macro 100mm http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=158427 but maybe you should get advice from your friends dad. I bet if you told him what you like to photograph he could advise you. You're a lucky one alright!
  19. I think you should tell me how I can get some cheaper lenses too! I love my Macro 100mm and prices might be dropping for it soon as a newer model has just been released. It doesn't mean the old model is no good though. It's a versatile lens, doesn't have to be used for just close up stuff. the 17-55 is supposed to be a great lens, you've got that distance covered but it might be worthwhile getting and selling one of your current lenses. The one I would love is the 70-200 2.8 IS. Can you get that?
  20. Glad to see you back, I thought you'd forsaken us. I like the mining one best.
