wonderful photos. Ozstar love those big skies and Canetoad the long straight dusty roads are almost beckoning to me, the lightning on the silos is just spectacular, you must have been wrapped when you got that one PC and Perse you live in such interesting country, it's always good to see it. I'm not much of a landscape person but I should be, I live in a beautiful part of the country. The only one I can think of that's on flickr is one I've shown before, from Christmas day about 3 years ago Christmas Day Storm by kirislin, on Flickr oh hang on found this one. I saw the mist rolling in creeping down the distant hills and raced out with my camera. It was very dark, happened so fast I didn't have much time to get the shot and it's underexposed. I've never seen this happen since, although now I'd have trouble seeing those hills because so many trees have grown up since. Better Take Your Umbrella by kirislin, on Flickr

The Challenge: Who's Got The Fastest Dog In Australia?
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
that's my baby girl Neko. I'm not sure but NSW might be running the comp as well. All times will be recorded and although they're looking for the fastest dog they'll still be declaring the individual breeds' times. You might have the fastest labrador. -
This is a Nation wide fun competition. Various dog sporting clubs around the country are participating, and the Yarra Valley Whippet Social Racing Club is running it in Victoria. I believe this is the 2nd year it's been run and the first time in Vic. We expect this competition will grow and grow over the years. A 100mt dash to see who's got the fastest dog. It's not a race, all dogs will run alone and they'll get 2 goes at it, the fastest time will be the one submitted and will then be ranked against other dogs around the country. All breeds and x breeds welcome. You will need to pre enter this comp, entries close on May 8th. Details are here. 5F6A8705_1 by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A8837_1 by kirislin, on Flickr IMG_1354_1 by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A6006dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Baby can RUN!! by kirislin, on Flickr

Errrmmmmm Smelly Dog ..how Do You Cope?
Kirislin replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
Maybe you could keep a spray bottle with a solution of water and vinegar in it and then just spray that on a towel to wipe him off with. -

When I had a young entire IG staying here, I noticed the difference, he ponged, but he wees on his chest, front legs and sometimes even his face! Never deliberately, it just happens. Most people with deep chested dogs who do this keep wet wipes handy and use them alot. -
Just lucky. :D

a little bird bath that was in the last lot of throw out stuff I rescued is much appreciated by the little birds here. 5F6A9077_1 by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A9078_1 by kirislin, on Flickr And the bees too! Bird and Bee by kirislin, on Flickr

I think it's mostly racing greys. It often gets noticed when they go into rescue because some, not all, are fed a rubbish diet and never given bones to chew on. With IGs it's because they have small mouths, sometimes crowded teeth and they can be wimpy with eating bones. There might be another reason, I've heard that small dogs often have bad teeth. Feather, my oldest , and smallest whippet has pretty ordinary teeth and Neko the IG is starting to show the tiniest hint of tartar and yet I feed them exactly the same diet as the boys get. I wonder if it can sometimes have to do with their saliva.

I'm proud of my dogs' teeth too. Here is what Pennys (now dec) looked like when she was 12 years old. She'd never had a dental. I feed my dogs fresh meat, no kibble, plenty of bones such as turkey necks, lamb flaps, chicken carcasses etc. Also lots of fruit and veg both raw and cooked. 12yo teeth by kirislin, on Flickr this was taken 2 years ago and belongs to Tag or Puck, both still have beautiful teeth at 10 years old but all their small front ones are wearing away to stumps. 8 y/o teeth by kirislin, on Flickr

A Different But Beautiful Greyhound Photo

It reminds me of the painting with light exercise Ashanali gave to us a few years back here. -
very cute fluffy little fella. How are all the others taking to him?

here's one on etsy, all the way from Turkey!! I googled bespoke dog coats but I'm sure if you look for made to measure you'll get lots as well https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/176511438/made-to-measure-dog-clothes-pet-clothes?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_au_en_au_pet_supplies_mid&gclid=CMG8-dXt7MQCFcWXvQod4o8AUg

Here's one that I loved. It's been manipulated but I think it's a beautiful piece of art. I wish I'd taken it. Out of this World {Explored 11-17-13} by d.rizzle, on Flickr -

It makes me want one. What sort of camera did they use? -
Yep, our club will be running it in Vic next month.

and sadly there'll be lots of greyhounds buried on properties legally too. It's not just racing greyhounds either, or even just greyhounds at all for that matter. Years ago I was offered a greyhound puppy free, as a pet, from very good show lines because they only needed a few from the litter and they always had too many since greyhound bitches often whelp 10 or more puppies. Most were killed not long after they'd made their pick of the best ones. I'm sure other show breeds that whelp large litters that cant find pet homes end up the same way and the breeders know that is what will most likely happen when they breed.

Yes, I was looking at yours and imagining it going the other way. thanks. Did you plan that from a google earth map or have you got a drone?

thankyou! the 90degree thing had me confused for a while because I'd read it as no MORE than 90 degrees when it really should say no LESS, but your wording of no sharper makes more sense and is easier to understand. I'll study the course you've posted.

that's where I thought I'd read about it!! Israel. Yes, it's been going for a number of years.

One of my favourites. Helped me learn to layout safe courses. :) Bear any other advice about how to lay a safe course, especially your own experience will be gratefully received. We had an informal lure day on Good Friday I took a few pics. These 2 girls are very exerienced racers from the Tooradin round track but this was their first time coursing. I think they loved the change. 5F6A8770_1 by kirislin, on Flickr Pixie at 11 years old has lost none of her enthusiasm.
