Oh good. That's how I saw them too. I was a bit disappointed by his comment.

someone just told me he found them disturbing! I was surprised. Not sure if he thinks the bitey ones are serious fighting, which they weren't.

those hands tell a story. -
I've been looking back on some older albums on facebook for the whippet racing club I'm involved with. It's been long enough that I'd actually forgotten alot of the photos. It's nice to look back on them with fresh eyes and I find myself thinking there's some cracking shots in some of the albums. Here's just one from a beach day. We had to stop these days simply because they became too popular and we were afraid we were going to have injuries, especially when the whippets would try to send any other dog that wasn't a whippet off the beach. These were all taken with a Canon 7D and a 100mm Macro lens. Here's one from an earlier race/fun day meeting.

This was my experience too, although I do remember our entire dog then going to a neighbours house and cocking his leg on their telly! We were kids and never said a word.

Yes, simply put, and true. -
how are you starting them, from boxes or just hand slipping? You can hand slip without collars. When I used to race at Tooradin we used to remove their collars and jump them from starting boxes. Were we race now we just hand slip them and dont need a collar. I did buy a quick release collar off ebay from some lady in France years ago but I dont use it an I dont think I can remember her name. You might have luck asking this mob about collars. https://www.facebook.com/groups/147862468653073/

I've got some of these. My dogs still murder them though, Tag and Puck grab an end each and just pull. they do last longer than some toys, but they always succumb in the end.

What about just going to Spotlight and buying a few lengths/offcuts of fake fleece? The dog probably wont care that it doesn't actually look like an animal.

Yep, little dogs, but big personalities is right T. Here's another funny one. Bottoms up! by kirislin, on Flickr

These photos are stunning!!!! I love the creamy one. I could be fooled into thinking it was a white shepherd cross.

Many thanks Perse. :D It was a real fun day. Yep, she's pretty tiny. I once had a friend refer to my first tiny sighthound as a rat on stilts.Small in stature but big in personality. Small but mighty.

he's 2 kilos heavier than she is. She's only 4.3 kilos and he's about 6.2 I think, plus being a male means he's stronger anyway. He's pretty quick actually, we're thinking of seeing if he can run against the whippets next meeting.

It's been a while since I posted some pics. These were taken at the last whippet fun day. Neko cannot catch Arkey when they chase the lure. He's 2 kilos heavier than her though so it's hardly a fair race. She still puts up a fight though when it comes to wrestling. 5F6A4627dppt by kirislin, on Flickr He's such a brat!! 5F6A4636dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A4640dppt by kirislin, on Flickr My poor little girl, she never stood a chance. Perhaps it is unfortunate timing that it happened when it did, she turned 1 year old on Aug 3rd. Thanks for the link Espinay. I'll continue to do what I'm doing then as I know all the dogs at the park and if there were ever any I dont know I can steer clear of them. I just want my spunky little girl back.

Since Neko was tiny I socialised her and she's been fantastic with other dogs. A few days before I went into hospital she saw her brother Arkey get chased by some whippets (not mine) It started out as a game he was happy to participate in, but when he realised how fast the whippets were he got frightened. Although he wasn't hurt, he squealed in fear. Neko wasn't invovled at all but she saw it happen. I didn't think anything of it at the time. She then went to stay with the breeder while I was in hospital and wasn't walked outside his property. When I got her back she seemed normal, but once I was well enough to walk her at the park I noticed she was very nervous of dogs she'd previously been relaxed and playful with. I thought back as to what might have caused her fear and I can only assume she remembered Arkeys fright and has taken it on as her own. I am unsure what to do. I dont want to molly coddle her but I do want her to know she can trust and rely on me to protect her. I have gone back to what I used to do when she was a puppy, which is to keep her on lead and walk behind the regular group of dog walkers, letting her observe them interacting with each other while keeping a safe distance from them so she wont feel crowded or threatened. It's only been 2 days of this so far and I think she's improving but I was wondering if I'm doing the right thing and/or if anyone has any other suggestions as to how I can get her over this.

I have to agree. At least they kept him lean.

Poor old dog. And a whippet at that.

so cute, I loved hearing the savage growly noises.

good luck if it's for real. I'll be watching this thread.

Yep, I agree.

Can you video it?

Yes I do!! I remember when she was just learning about photography and even though she didn't have a DSLR her photos were so creative and funny. Sadly she deleted that old thread as her photos became more professional. I used to often go and re read it cause it was so cute. I still remember one photo of little Ralph with a big line of drool draped across his face while great big Rocco sat beside him oblivious to what he'd done. In Serenas photo story they were supposedly at a resort, and the caption from Ralph read "I dont like it here"
