  1. Yes, it's awful isn't it, missing them gets a little easier over time but sometimes the grief just comes back and really socks you.
  2. a quick fix-it for ant bites...rub a piece of cut onion onto the bite; the ouchie will disappear quick as a flash
  3. As the FB Qld Westie Club says...any breeder will keep in touch with the new owners and if they can't contact them they won't send the pup. They are endeavouring to find the breeder but reckon that breeder-common-sense will prevail. Anyway...I'll update when there is an outcome
  4. I put in non-pasteurised ACV into the dogs vegie slops, I usually put in about 3/4--1 cup when I make up the slops. I make up about 1/2 bucket full then pop the mix into little containers and freeze. I put a heaped teaspoon in with their breakfast and tea. It is pretty good for them so I reckon small amounts of the the vinegary apples would be fine some info here-->(Add it to your pet’s food. Use about 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar per every 20 pounds of dog) http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2016/09/10/apple-cider-vinegar-for-fleas.aspx
  5. Yes, that's what I thought as well Rebanne but maybe it's not a good breeder...either way you would think that they would phone and say stuff like "are you all good for the pick-up tomorrow" and not send the pup if there is no answer. I don't know the circumstances at all but posted here in the hope that someone may know of a Westie breeder who is going to send a pup to WA and that the pup doesn't have a not-needed return trip. There does sound to be some urgency though.
  6. this is from West Highland White Terrier Club Qld's facebook page may someone knows send me a message if you do know West Highland White Terrier Club of QLD Westie besties - urgent help needed!!!! Are you, or do you know a Westie breeder? We are looking to find the breeder who has sold a puppy to a WA couple with the initials P & I and the 6 letter surname starting with S. (I have deleted the couple's name for privacy) This couple were awaiting the delivery of a Westie pup but no one knows which kennel it was coming from?! Tragically they were involved in a traffic accident near Albany and have been hospitalised with serious injuries. Their daughter thinks that even with her help they will be unable to raise a puppy at the moment. She needs to contact the breeder urgently to let them know not to send the furry baby Any help appreciated!
  7. I like the looks of this guy In Dubbo http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/dubbo/dogs-puppies/staghound-entire-male/1132602314
  8. can't see why not, mine quickly form pods and when they dry off they are packed full of flat seeds so they can spread and grow into quite a clump. I'll send ya some when they are ready. I also checked the height of mine and they are now 30cm so that info was not lying after all, the stems have grown quite a bit taller since this morning this is what the seed pods look like Ooh I'd love some seeds please. I could sprinkle them over Pagan's (my mare) grave. She is buried near the place her beautiful son Rowdy had to be put down 11 years before and I've already got daffodils, jonquils, hyacinth and naked ladies growing around there, as well as a callistemon. I love that they come up after rain. Pagan was put down on a very rainy day. I found some seeds from last year (well I am 99.95% sure it's them) so I'll pop them in an envelope and send them to you if you'd PM me with your address, there is a good chance they will all grow.

  10. I always thought that belladonna lilies (Amaryllis) were naked ladies and my little flowers, which are a crocus, were rain lily or storm lily (Zephyranthe) but I had a google-look and they are both referred to a naked ladies, I think my ones should be called naked fairies as they are quite small, while naked ladies are more 'in your face' flowers that's what I thought yours were. Belladonna lilies have lots of flowers on each stem and grow high 70-80cm tall My storm lilies only grow to around 12-15 cm high and have one flower per stem, though one site reckons they grow to 30cm...they are lying eta...make sure that you Google naked lady lily not naked lady; oopsie

  15. Hahaha, there was a Westie at the Westie Christmas party on Sunday that was doing this. he got offered a liver treat and his little jaw was chattering so fast! It was really funny. he got lots of liver treats
  16. My Mac had that, I was at my wits end. After a month of washing and disinfecting the wee-spots on the flood and washing him underneath I took him to the vet (why I didn't take him sooner I don't know), she said she would try Propalin, it worked fairly well but he still was leaking a little, she then also put him on Stilboestrol...one tablet given on Wednesday and one on Saturday as well as Propalin .25ml morning and night. The two medications worked really really well; his skirt-hair went back from orange/brown pee-stained to its normal white and he stopped smelling of wee. He was so much happier. If I can remember correctly Mac's vet mentioned that a woman of 'breeding age' should be careful of touching the tablets as they contain oestrogen. I think Westiemum had her Mac on these as well but discontinued as her Mac became a little stroppy with her two other Westies anyway talk to your vet about these meds.
  17. last week I bought Bravecto (as well as Nuheart and chook stuff) from Omars Yesterday I got their newsletter and it had 5% off on Bravecto (also on Nexguard and Glyde powder) can't win sigh
  18. Country Park Animal Herbs, lovely to deal with. Email and ask for dosage rates https://countrypark.com.au/product/st-marys-thistle/ also... McDowell's email them to ask Kate if she can make up a prescription specifically for your dog (she did this for Mac's cancer) they are helpful and caring https://www.mcdowellsherbal.com/
  19. I hope it's ok to post here This was on Gumtree this morning :-/ maybe a DOLer knows someone who wants this little one no indication of sex http://www.gumtree.c...ome-/1130172768
  20. Is she the lovely dog calmly watching the sheep in your avatar Perry's Mum? I have always like that photo, she looks so self controlled and 'grounded' I am so sorry for your loss
  21. Unfortunately I don't think it's a legal requirement in Qld to sell a pup at six weeks old, I think it is just a code of practice/recommendation
  22. I had a look at that Nowstarin but decided against it as Westies do have a problem with skin allergies so I try to avoid stuff that is in direct contact to their skin. Some of the reviews on this page are ok but some are horrific http://fixfleas.com/seresto-flea-collar-dogs/ It seems (from the reviews) that it works really well or the dog has a reaction to it
  23. this is why I have chosen Bravecto; NexGuard = once a month treatment (1 month for flea and paralysis tick) Bravecto = 4 monthly treatment (4 month for paralysis tick, 3 month for fleas) http://www.nexgard.com.au/Pages/about-nexgard.aspx http://www.bravecto.com.au/
  24. Thank you Tx and Px I read a little more about them both and will probably go with the Bravecto Px...is your Westie-friend going to the Christmas Party? there are usually around 130 Westies there, always a good time!
