  1. Lovely dog Huski. She is amazing...what a credit to you. Happy Birthday Blaze
  2. A few weeks ago I was at the vets when a woman and her husband came in with a lovely standard poodle. They were there to say goodbye as her dog had collapsed from heart disease. They paid and left. My vet and the nurse carried the dog to the consult room. I was next to see the vet...she told me that the beautiful dog had to be euthanised, they gave her some liver teats and the nurse cuddled and talked to her while she went to a better place. My vet was moved as she had been treating her for some time. That lovely dog did pass over knowing she was loved and in someone’s arms. So your dogs can be treated with respect and love even though you are not there Isabel. I do like Working Dog Lover's solution though, it seems to be a gentle solution.
  3. Is that the photo of her not eating as she thinks you are trying to poison her DDD? Give her no-sugar home-made yoghurt then Willem will go away happy https://www.easiyo.com/easiyo-product-details/skimmers-unsweetened-yogurt.html or this one which is really yummy https://www.easiyo.com/easiyo-product-details/greek-unsweetened.html
  4. hahaha, this made me laugh She is so full of spit and vinegar I love the action photo!
  5. collect some tiger or lion wee T (surely you, if anyone, can get a bottle of this) just spray it on the grass...that'll keep them away
  6. I'm hoping it works in large quantities! My dog has been on chicken, rice and pumpkin the last 2 days and stole a takeaway container of bone broth off the bench. It was still frozen and he managed to eat 2/3 of it...he found it, stole it, opened it and ate it in the 15 mins I ducked out (and he's not a counter surfer as a rule). yep, he knows what is good for him! LOL
  7. If you are going to buy Turmeric the best place is Country Park Herbs http://www.countrypark.com.au/ has a high % of curcumin lovely deep ochre colour, not like supermarket stuff Westiemum put me on to this company, they are lovely to deal with. They are in NSW and Qld Remember, herbal/holistic remedies can help with (perhaps) slowing down cancers but in most cases are not a cure. Modern methods like surgery, chemo and radiation therapy (where the little ba$tards are blasted to oblivion) do get excellent results
  8. chicken bone (frames) broth has been known as an excellent aid for digestion in humans, my grandma used it when us kids were feeling seedy or had a cold. here is some info anyhow...the info on the right hand side of the Marcola page is the shortened version http://articles.merc...h-benefits.aspx eta I meant to include this link as well, read the section titled 'Nutritional facts and benefits of Bone Broth' http://divinehealthfromtheinsideout.com/2012/05/bone-broth-nutritional-facts-benefits/

I was only thinking about him this morning WM He won't be forgotten, a little piece of him is in all our hearts. I have something in both eyes now and must need new glasses as the keyboard is blurry

  17. I love most of the DOLer dogs...Ping is pretty neat! I always had a soft spot for yellowgirl's little Cressie: Banshee she is here in all her glory in a 2011 thread http://www.dolforums..._1#entry5148147
  18. Hi Nelsona, my old Westie had urinary incontinence, the vet put him on Propalin which worked for a few months but then he started again (though not nearly as bad as when he first had it), I had read that Westiemum had her lovely Mac on Propalin as well as Stylboestrol so asked the vet if we could try that combination to see if it would work. Well it did My Mac now has no pee-staining on his skirt or tummy and is so much happier. I am happier also as I was getting tired of washing the towels I use to cover his plastic-covered bed. There are also some positive reports on using corn silk, I haven't used it but maybe do a Google search and give it a go. I realise that this is not solving the poo-problem but it's half-way there.
  19. I bought three lovely clean thick sheepskins at another garage sale yesterday (it was a good day for garage sales but unfortunately no big food processors for dog-slops), when I got home I placed the one on top of each other on the floor, went to make a cup of tea, came back and saw Penny climbing on top of them all. 'O good' I thought, she likes them then she wee-d all over them
  20. I know. I think Ernie might get another Kong Knot bear. He does rip it eventually but he loves them so. And a squeaker mat and a stuffing less raccoon that he can flap about. He does love flapping. :D A friend of mine found that dust masks like this one make good dog flap-about toys  I bought this at a garage sale today for $20, it was still in the box. We assembled it and it looks a bit flash and OTT. I don't know if I really like it
  21. This is all I could find Kirty, it was posted on a local info page by someone and they saw it on this page (Cairns Animals Lost, Found and For Sale) https://www.facebook...02245123121070/

  23. This was posted on my facebook page this morning. If anyone finds ticks on people or pets can you please send them (the tick) to Sydney Uni. Keep it in a zip lock bag and place in the freezer till you can post it. (If freezing you can place a moist cottonwool ball in the bag too). Write on the bag where the tick was found (town and state) and on (person or animal) and the date/time : the more details they have the better research will be. We are looking for as many ticks as possible to determine whether there is a borrellia species native to Australia and all ticks are welcome. Send it to: Ann Mitrovic Tick Borne Disease Research Unit The University of Sydney Room 294 Blackburn Building D06 The University of Sydney. NSW. 2006
