  1. Caz out of a devastating situation this is as triumphant a recognition and justice as I could imagine for Buddy. You must have been working hard behind the scenes to highlight the injustice and tragedy of what happened and I congratulate you on this outcome. Safety and awareness in salons was what Buddy needed that day and this award keeps the message alive. Good on you!
  2. Just amazing! What an uplifting story and all captured on film. All I could think was I hope they take the dog to the vet but I'm sure they did. I couldn't tell if the dog was a bit old or just in shock with the whole ordeal...
  3. They're all funny Tonka's might be "Silky sofa cushions too slippery...keep sliding off."
  4. Yes, my dog walker describes my Pap Tonka as "tough as nails" and he frequently goes walking with big dogs including a great dane. He lets them know if he doesn't like it/ feels scared.
  5. I absolutely love corgi tails so hope someone has a picture of them. They are almost as big as the whole dog
  6. My dog Tonka is like that if the pups are getting in his space. His breeder actually used to let him run with her springer pup litters to teach them manners :) He certainly doesn't put up with crap  When I heard this I have really relaxed with him around pups as I understood that pups learn manners from the older dogs as part of their development. Obviously there is no great reactiveness in him and if the pups are around he is calm and just gently nips or growls if they start jumping over him. The best puppy training action I saw was at the dog park with him (4kg papillon) and two huge wolfhound pups. A breeder was there and she liked that Tonka was not deterred by the size difference and did a great job of letting them know if they crossed the line as they all ran together :)
  7. Jules, looks lovely! Lucky doggies!
  8. Hoping for good news... Thinking of the little one still lost and checking the FB page every day. It makes me cherish Tonka daily as I imagine how heart-breaking it must be if he were suddenly lost.
  9. Hoping they put it out publicly far and wide. What low scum to steal a dog
  10. Pleased two are found. Fingers crossed for the other munchkins!!
  11. Yeah...was just coming in to say this too. Have to watch the whole thing on 7 but they were making jokes on The Project ha ha. I loved his thread on here with his videoa
  12. This is lovely and having spent years in India had to smile at the dog being laid out as they do people in the Hindu faith, with the red smudge on his third eye :) Goldie Dies and Given Funeral Honours ETA Just saw the date...not new news...but it just came up on my FB page
  13. The only thing I find objectionable is that bloody leprechaun-type singing
  14. What a beautiful photo. Run free Hammy...you had a rich life :)
  15. Leave a lot of salt sitting on top of the blood spot (with a little water if already a bit dry), as the salt draws the blood (or red wine) out of the carpet. Then clean up when you come home. Stain removers are also available from the supermarket if needed.
  16. Ok here is cute one of Tonka and his friend Rex when Rex was a puppy, doing a bit of lion moving  Note, gaping puppy mouth! And tails of a different kind here
  17. I agree. There is something quite empowering about validating yourself and your concerns and not holding onto the incident. Let things move on and if you encounter her then as other s have said reiterate your concerns about dogs off leash running up to your dog. Don't cut yourself off from potential park area unless the off-leash thing is too much, then find an alternative.
  18. Yes, he/she was under shelter and in the shade. I might call the council and ask what their policy is... That's a good idea, thanks :) Also, the suburb that this supermarket is in (I live 15 minutes away in the next town) has a druggie culture and it's full of bogans and ferals... This is where I saw the woman wearing trackie pants with high heels. All the women look like clapped out old strippers... It's not a nice place. However this kind of population often has a high dog ownership and their dogs are absolutely adored. Behaviour may be different to ours but is what they can do given circumstances. I think this thread centres on does this person need some feedback that their dog is getting noticed and people are concerned for its welfare...so there would be a number of routes...council, rspca, someone saying something directly. I think personally I might do the council first, see if they are interested, they do control pet ownership within the council area and footpaths. The other thing is that I have seen shopping centres that issue signs out front saying NO DOGS to be tied up outside. The fact that the owner is leaving water suggests they do care and are aware that they are leaving it for a lengthy time. As Aloysha and Juice point out it actually may be of little concern as the dog is used to it, gets attention and if in shade with water is fine. Concerned people may be more of a hazard for the dog then the actual situation and Newfies may attract more attention than another ore common breed too.
