  2. Hey, just in case your vet is closed on the public holiday I have used the 7 day vet on Erskineville Road and they don't charge excessively over weekends (if at all different from their normal prices ). I was very happy to use them when my normal Bondi vet was closed. Here are there times tomorrow: Public Holidays 9am to 6pm Sydney Animal Hospitals – Newtown Address: 69–73 Erskineville Road, Erskineville NSW 2043. Welcome to our Newtown Sydney vet hospital where we provide veterinary care and animal emergency care for pets in Newtown, Marrickville, Beaconsfield, Eveleigh, St Peters, Alexandria, Darlington, Enmore and surrounding suburbs of Sydney. Our hospital is open every day except Christmas Day for pet care emergencies and the pet services your pet needs to stay healthy and happy. We're open seven days. Phone: (02) 9519 4111.
  3. Yep, I don't mind as I find people always ask and I think Tonka is pretty cute so understand why they want topat him  I live on the corner of a park so parents practice toddler pet etiquette on him. I don't mind as it takes 30 seconds if I keep it brief and I'm usually out with him in my leisure time... no one is trying to do it early in the morning when I'm in a rush
  4. Such a beautiful boy, I hope his owners have the answers they need. So sorry for their loss...
  5. A freiend who is a vet said to me that it is actually kind to get them to learn to be separate and alone because one day they may need to stay overnight at the vet's or at a kennel and if they have alone time as part of their day it is much less stressful. So you are doing something good for the pup, balanced with all that interaction and socializing stuff they need (will leave that to others to explain  )
  6. The dog ate my vote! ...And if you're a politician...the dog ate my credibility
  7. Yeah I was feeling a bit of a numbskull because I didn't know what dooshing meant...now I do. He tried to run through it? Hope he's feeling better.
  8. I'm definitely not quite at the dog enthusiast stage to wear that yet  Give me another few years
  9. When I first got Tonka I asked my vet about this and as I walk him on a lot of pavement the vet said that that should naturally take care of it. It certainly seems to as I don't trim them and except for the odd groom (once a year) walking seems to do the job.
  10. From my humble Canon Powershot
  11. Thinking of you and sending hugs. She will be greatly missed. I am glad you know what happened to her and have closure
  12. What a joyful day! I love how many pressies she had to unwrap
  13. Very nice. My Mum's name was Beryl and Beryl's of the world have had a bad wrap I say :D It's a nice name!
  14. What a touching story http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/2013/08/15/10/52/dog-braves-icy-conditions-to-spend-23-days-by-dead-owner-s-side Dog stays by dead owner's side for 23 days ninemsn staff 10:52am August 15, 2013 Many marriages are supposed to endure until one party dies but death could not part a devoted dog from its dead owner who stayed by his side for 23 days, braving freezing conditions and predators in Argentina's harsh Patagonia region. Bernardo Quiroz, 27 was travelling with his wife, two children and dog Talero to visit his brother in the south of Argentina in mid-July, El Patagonico reports. During the trip his car broke down in an isolated area with little passing traffic, so he set off on foot with Talero in search of help. It is believed that Mr Quiroz became lost during a snow storm and died. His frozen body was found 23 days later with his loyal pet still by his side. Rescuers reportedly found signs that the dog had tried to keep its owner warm by lying near his feet, torso and head. Talero is also believed to have fought off local predators such as foxes, armadillos and birds to keep them away from his master's body, which was found intact. Investigators said Mr Quiroz died from exposure to the cold. Mr Quiroz's family was found in their broken down car a few days later and all are in good health. 15. Unbelievable. So did MM get the right place? Besides the bakery that is... not for lunch  ETA: I drive down Marrickville Rd every day normally...now for some dog spotting :)
  16. Thinking of you Ash and little Smudge. Don't go to the worst that could happen, it is unknown and remember how there are lots of untrue 'fighting ring' stories. Just keep looking right now as that is what she needs you to do. Praying for good news.
  17. I'll have a look on Friday when I go through there next. Intriguing!
  18. Wow. What a lucky puppy and an amazing woman to take ownership of him like that, mid-travel
  19. Wishing my little Tonka a Happy Birthday for today. He is not a horse but shares their birthday :) I got him when he was three and it has been a great 5 years. Missing his breeder Clankaree/Patters, who passed away just over a year ago and used to remind me of his birthday sometimes as I would forget Happy Birthday In his DOL made bed In the meadow at Dover Heights (Tonka of the Glen) Having a go at agility...he tries :D
  20. would that be Som Mon in NZ? :D Bwah haha (no emoticons on my mobile)
  21. Not if MUP has anything to do with it. ...and still in the wrong forum
  22. I am going on Rex to Dubbo on Friday and had made arrangements for Tonka to stay with a friend. But looking at their website it would appear that small dogs can be taken as part of hand luggage in an approved container! It looks straightforward and as I am travelling light could probably manage hime without even going over excess baggage, and have a small crate airline approved. I will phone them tomorrow but was wondering if anyone on here has experience as it looks very user-friendly...could it be true
  23. It's amazing that it is so entertaining...and then MUP's commentary on top...all these characters! (And still in the wrong forum, oh dear ) Perhaps there's something good in here for dog names :D
