  1. Ok that makes me a bad owner then. I was still in PJ's at ten. Did not have to go to work til 11 and I was cuddling on the couch with two labs and two cats. Looks like what I wear is more important than all attention mine were getting. My kids as teenagers stopped wearing PJs and wore trackies and tshirts instead. That way its hard to tell if they have just got up or not. Funny to think they would be better dog owners than me going on that reasoning. That has to be one of the craziest reasons I have heard of.
  2. This wasnt Brighton beach was it. The kite surfers last summer were doing my head in. One guy had his strings all laid out on the sand and there are dogs running everywhere. It was a week end so really busy. It takes me nearly an hour to get there as well. I for one would not be letting my kids eat or paddle in the water at a dog beach. I just dont think its healthy. Especially when there is a human beach right next to it.
  3. I voted Nutro as I have just switched Molly over to it after supply problems again with Eaglepack. Couldnt pick two choices, Mokha is on Healthwise but will be switching to Nutro soon if he can tolerate the change. They also rmb, sardines, eggs etc.
  4. How lovely for her to acknowledge your efforts to be responsible. I wonder if she is lonely or just loves GD so much that she would love to meet yours. It sounds like she may wish to become friendly acquaintances and probably wants to pat your dog. I think you may have made a new friend without even trying.
  5. I cant believe I forgot it was on and missed it. I am going to try to find it online. Does anyone know if you can view it online?Looks like I will be able to watch it on their web site just not yet.
  6. Goat, how could I have missed the goat. Going to watch it again now. What clever dogs. ETA Ohhh now I see the goat, without my glasses on I thought it was a bull terrier ;)
  7. I didnt think he was breeder bashing. At the risk on being unpopular mankind has bred dogs for different uses and in the process some of the breed characteristics may be less than ideal. I know the BBC doco recently was rather full on but Martin Clunes spent 90% of the show showing the wonderful things that dogs have been bred to do and only a very small part about the negatives of a couple of breeds. I can understand his interest as his cocker spaniel had HD that needed surgery.
  8. The fact it is made in Australia makes me feel better than buying a foreign product. I try to buy Australian whenever I can so I am glad we have this option. I did not like the smell as much as other kibbles but then I am not the one eating it.
  9. Mine got some left over roast beef, mashed pumpkin and steamed carrots with about 1/4 cup kibble.Lunch snack was a small meaty raw beef bone. Just a treat they dont usually get lunch but I was engrossed in paperwork and not paying any attention to them. Tonight its chicken frames, mashed pumpkin and sardines. Yum
  10. I have just switched Molly to the Adult Lamb and rice. I am sick of the supply issues with Eagle Pack and wanted a good food that I can always get a bag of. I tried her on it a couple of months ago while I still had a supply of Eagle pack just in case and I was very happy with. She loves it, although she is a lab, her coat was good and no upset tummy so I have decided to go with it. My only worry it will also be hard to get if it gets really popular. It is lower protein than Eagle Pack but she get sardines, chicken carcass, eggs, RMB as well so I dont think it is too much of a worry.ETA It is on special on line at Pookinuk at the moment saving $20 on the large bag.
  11. The reason I have my landline number is I have a message service on there so at least if I am not hearing my mobile ring (my hearing isnt to good) I can check if someone has called.
  12. I have these tags they are really good value. On mine I have: dogs name My husband and my first names and surname My mobile Husbands mobile Home number ETA I like to have phone numbers on dogs. When I have found one in the past I can call the owner direct and return the dog. I also think if they are close enough to be able to read your dogs name on the tag they are close enough to have grabbed them already.
  13. I just wanted to send my continuing good wishes to Yogi for a swift recovery. The photo of his wounds shows what a lucky dog he is.I hope all is going well.
  14. I have two labradors, one we got as a pup the other at a year of age. My biggest concern for adding a lab into your situation is whether your children will be old enough not to leave toys and potentially hazardous things where the pup can get them. Not all labs will eat anything, one of mine does, it does not have to be edible. It is a lot of work to make sure the house is Mokha proof as he still has a passion for eating things and he is 2. Molly has not been such a problem. My kids are 17 through 23 and they are hopeless about leaving things lying around. I think this is one reason you can not compare having a lab pup to lots of other breeds that dont have this compulsion to eat. When my 2 year old nephew is here I do have to watch carefully as their tails are right at eye level and if they get boisterous it is easy for one to knock a small child over, though they would never do it deliberately of course. ETA An older, say 3 year old lab I think would be much easier for you, Molly is nearly 3 now and has settled down beautifully. She is great with the kids.
  15. I am not a fan of most Hills foods but their I/D food was the only thing Mokha could eat when he was having dreadful vomiting and diarrhea at about 4 months of age. We used the canned at first then the dry for about 6 weeks then I was able to transition him onto a food that also has limited ingredients. I did not have the knowledge to feed him a raw or home cooked diet at that time so I was thankful the Hills helped.
  16. Thanks Rappie, Mokha was really active after having his last injection, it was about 10 days overdue. I could not say whether it was the new formulation Zydax or the slightly warmer temperatures we were having that made him really puppy like. I will have to see next month whether he is really good again right after the shot. It always helps but he is not usually that over the top in the following days.
  17. Mokha is on Zydax,at his last monthly injection my vet mentioned that the manufacturer had tweaked the formula a bit and asked me to let her know if I noticed any difference good or bad in Mokha compared to usual. Has anyone else had their vet mention this?
  18. Is the sporn harness hard to put on. My two get excited at the prospect for a walk and dont want anything to fiddly to put on.
  19. You can join as a member and register your dog as an Associate. Given that VicDogs members are paying for the facility, it seems only reasonable that if you want to use it you become one. Thanks Poodlefan, I certainly dont mind paying a membership to use the faciities. Do you know what the best time to go is. Also for the original poster there is a small, size of a house block, fully fenced off lead area with lovely garden seats, trees, grass etc a couple of streets behind the Cranbourne shopping centre. I dont know the actual address but if you leave the shopping at the rear go about 2 blocks it is on the corner. It only has fencing to about waist height, chain link, but is a nice area that is not too big so your dog is not too far from you even if the recall is not so flash.
  20. Thank you! Excuse my ignorance - what is KCC? JB KCC Park is the home of Dogs Victoria. IT's great there! Check out the link below: http://www.dogsvictoria.org.au/Content.asp?ID=177 In the info about KCC park it mentions a couple of times it is for members. If you dont have a pure breed dog how do you become a member and is this necessary to use the off lead facility?
  21. I hope Yogi is recovering well. Such a horrible thing to happen, with all the crazy weather we would all be wise checking our yards I think. Goodness knows what has blown in to them or fallen down. The labs and I are sending lots of positive wishes your way.
  22. Yes poodlemum have been a member for a few years now I did not even know there was such a list  I very rarely go to the home page lol. Ok after reading some of the responses , I started to feel bad, thinking there was some poor person who would really love a puppy but did not speak good english,So I went back through my deleted emails and found the suspect email and replied. My response - Hi ....... There are still puppies left in this litter, they are a working breed of dog and not suitable for everyone, If you are interested in purchasing one please call me and tell me a bit more about yourself and what you are expecting out of a puppy, it may be that my puppies are not suitable for your lifestyle.... thanking you Sheree The reply I got Thank you very much for the response. I will be happy to buy them.Note that you will not be responsible for shipping and handling. Myshipping company will come to your location for pick up. Kindlyprovide me your name and full address so i can forward it to theshipping company to calculate the cost of pick up for me. Do get backto me as soon as possible. needless to say it went straight back into the delete bin. I am glad you gave him the benefit of the doubt and emailed back, at least you know for sure who you were dealing with. Straight in the bin now with that email.
  23. Molly loves to swim but will usually come back if I call her but she has to be able to see and hear me. On one occasions she swam out much further than usual and there was quite a few people on the beach. I could see her looking for me, swimming back and forth. She looked exhausted. Thankfully she spotted me and headed straight in. It was the only time I was really worried.
  24. I dont know if its possible but could you have the airconditioning (assuming the vehicle has it) vented to rear as well. I know in my crew cab ute the air con is freezing and would easily cool the back as well and my ute is 16 years old.
