  1. I can't for the life of me understand why someone who has any interest in dogs wellbeing at all would sell these high drive dogs to a PET STORE. Why were they even bred - for what purpose? It's just stupid!
  2. Kristina are u actually the *insert whatever word you want here* who bred those pups????? I am SICK AND TIRED of people breeding for profit, theres no other reason people would breed such a careless cross breed and then throw em in Pets Paradise
  3. Oh dear Yogi please recover quickly!! Your mum needs you
  4. I considered a bark collar, then kept my dog indoors. Best solution ever
  5. Awesome photos!! How did u get the man to look all glowy?
  6. He might not have been "vicious". Exactly!!! Sheesh. The number of ratty little dogs I have had race up to me with Shyla responsibly ON LEAD and physically RUN INTO HER and make contact with her, it asounds me. I go OFF at the owners because of the risk involved, they are idiots!!! My dog is fine yes, but what if she wasn't? What if she reacted out of fright?? Nothing angers me more and when I see offleash dogs I automatically get mad at the thought of them rushing my onleash dog. If she was to bite one in retaliation, what, she gets called dangerous? I get done in court?
  7. No matter how much care and attention pet shop people give to the puppies they have, it doesn't change the fact that they are kept in small glass confinement areas at such an IMPORTANT stage of puppy development where they should be socializing and learning things etc... Puppies need fresh air, litter mates, new experiences and not confinement in little cabinets
  8. A crate or babygated area is much better because that way the dog is still in the usual area of the house and can see everyone, not ousted to a little dingy laundry feeling alone, just my opinion!
  9. I agree, a Cavalier who's alone for 40 hours a week by itself won't be happy I know of a friend's daughter who has one and it has severe anxiety as a result and just can't handle the alone time, I am sure there are some that are OK but on the whole they were definitely bred to be companions!
  10. Yep! BUT EITHER WAY Sky Mel mentioned NOTHING about her dog pestering people or the other dogs pestering people in the situation she described, she said people come in the area and freak out when dogs 'walk near them' thats pretty much what happens in dog allowed areas, they play and run around and often *SHOCK HORROR* will pass near you sometimes, oh look out!
  11. Yea exactly! If you have a fear of dogs do not enter a dog beach and start screaming. There are dogs having fun and running around. I don't agree with dogs jumping all over people but if they are just having fun and NOT hassling anyone I see no problem. Apparently they are
  12. If people are that scared of dogs and they enter a GATE that says DOG BEACH and have a fear of dogs and proceed to act all scared at dogs walking past (not even pestering them) I think they are dumb if there is a NO DOG beach a little bit more of a walk down the way?
  13. Having the puppy in the laundry when eating dinner or on the computer would be fine IF it wasn't already in the laundry 8hrs a day while your at work. It's definitely too much for the little bugger, tell your parents dogs are family members, not rabbits in hutches! They need to be with you Good on you for feeling for the little one, I would also feel horrible. See how your parents are if you talk to them about it, with training the pup will grow into a GOOD adult dog and won't be a hassle to have around the house at all. Tell them that the toilet training and other annoying things right now will be a thing of the past in several months... maybe they see the puppy as annoying cos of the little puppy things we have to put up with (poo and pee inside, biting, being a hassle etc) but tell them when they mature they are more than not annoying (if trained to behave! )
  14. Is there a limit on how often you can feed these? Shyla gets an egg daily and sardines most days to accompany her raw mince and bikkies (two meals) Edited to add: since doing this for the last few months her itchy skin is a lot LESS itchy and her coat looks amazing, poos are perfect (ew, lol) etc
  15. Shyla says "thanks huski!" Yes I agree I was worried getting one so chose my breeder wisely (looking at the parents and lineage etc) and thankfully I got a laid back shepherd who likes to sleep
  16. Good to know! Keep it up. I can't see these things happening if the human is the leader! I would be stunned and shocked if my dog lip curled at me, I call the shots. I would be contacting a recommended behaviorist ASAP if my dog showed such behaviors towards me especially! Hopefully the NILF program and really working on the alpha exercises helps heaps
  17. Ring your local clinic and ask for an approximate cost?
  18. When I was in primary school I did a project on german shepherds coz they were my childhood dream dog, 15 years on I got that exact dog, here's shyla posing with that project, she thinks it's kinda cool
  19. No. Completely disagree. As a first time dog owner I had a female Min Pin and she was an absolute angel. As are my two boys now. It's not that they need more exercise, it is that they have more stamina than the average SWF and can go for hours - IF given the opportunity. Otherwise they are happy to sit at home and be lapdogs. They aren't meant to be highly strung - just wary of strangers and good watchdogs. However, like everyone else has said it depends on the owner, and how much work they are prepared to put in to ensure they have a happy, obedient dog! My mum has a min pin and she doesn't get walked much and is fine indoors and in her pen when Shyla visits. However yep IF given the chance she can go for hours, if we go for a huge walk with all the dogs, she doesn't sleep for ages after while the big dogs are out flat! Very smart breed though and very noisy, but not "challenging" as such (or this one isn't anyway)
