  1. Shyla prefers this bed to her plush cosy round bed It looks more uncomfortable but she likes it cos she overheats a lot and this gives her some ventilation
  2. Oh dang I would love Shyla to be a long coat GSD model!!! Geelong is a bit of a road trip for me. WOW that rotty is beautiful!!!!!!!!! i don't usually admire rotties but wow
  3. Me too!!! OMG so we had 2 rush at us last week and now just today hubby walked Shyla and said a male GSD came BOLTING down a footpath full pelt towards him and Shyla, with his frantic male owner screaming and rushing after him. Hubby tried to keep Shyla behind him but she came out in front of him at the last second and the GSD rammed right into her and she yelped and they both took a tumble. Hubby pushed the dog away and it got up and then kept running in the same direction and the owner guy ran past full pelt after it and said "sorry" on the way I didn't feel as angry that time cos it seems the dog got away from him and wasn't just 'offleash' like the others??
  4. What do you mean by 'muscle meat'? I'm wondering where everyone gets good dog mince from It sounds good whatever you get!
  5. Just wondering if you other DSLR camera owners out there have insurance for your camera or not?
  6. Good luck Sam! Eager to hear how the introduction tonight went!! ;) Edited to fix my shonky spelling
  7. I had ANOTHER small white fluffy rush across the road and charge into Shyla today and I went APE at the woman!!!! She said "I know it's dangerous" but said she doesn't even have a leash!!! I put a post on Facebook about my anger and someone said dogs should be allowed offleash and rushing at an onleash party doesn't matter because it's how dogs interact and that his big maremmas used to rush at others in the park and they would get angry and he would wonder why. What the hell is the leash laws in VIC? Are dogs allowed offleash everywhere? In any "park"?
  8. Oh thank goodness for the update!!! The poor thing
  9. Horrible!!!! And I never knew ticks look like THAT Poor poor dogs :D
  10. Dogs who tear their cruciates or do other damage can become 'sound' and then limp again, so I wouldn't be taking that dog to a clinic just yet. Ligament and tendon strains and damage can take MONTHS to heal, and there are days that appear "better" Oh but wait you won't listen to that cos you made up your mind already before you even MADE this thread. How can you not take it to a vet for a check?? I take my girl for anything at all, and I would NEVER wait around with leg issues. No that leg is probably not 100% just now.
  11. A limping or weight bearing on-and-off back leg can be as minor as bruising and a sprain, to as serious as a break or full ligament rupture. No joke. I would get my shepherd checked out ASAP but that's me....
  12. Thanks guys!! I'm reading up on exposures and things online for now, but would like to do a course of some sort in the future, the problem is finding time!! But so far so good... I'm enjoying learning and testing out the manual settings, I've used used auto for long enough with my point n shoot! My favorite thing will be macro shots I'm sure, but I need to get a macro lens one day to do it properly I think, I tried the macro setting with my 15-85mm but I can't get as close as I want to
  13. Here's us sleeping in, me OH and Shyla LOL (I took the pic with my hand up behind me, people thought there was a 3rd person in the bed! haha)
  14. We have wondered about this dilemma too!! I use two chinese containers to hold 4 mince thawing bags at a time in the fridge (fOr Shy and also the 3 cats) but they leak out the bottom of the ziplock bags, ewww blood. Are 'freezer bags' non leaking cos they are meant for the freezer?
  15. Now I just need to skip ahead a few years when I know what I'm doing  In what situation would you use a darker exposure? it seems to look dismal in every attempt I tried haha!
  16. Hubby surprised me with a late birthday present on our 2 day trip away, a brand new Canon 550D dslr!! I was so happy! I have been snap happy with it now and am getting used to the settings already, and haven't even had it in auto, i'm winging it Here's a few of my shots anyway, I need to learn a lot more about the aperture and ISO and all that so I know what I'm doing. Somethings missing in this photo but I don't know what, depth? BLeh
  17. http://www.news.com.au/business/parachutin...i-1225894770160 Honestly, that is disgusting The last paragraph about it landing made me shiver in disgust Don't go to youtube and watch the take off, its so friggin violent
  18. Where do I start to learn about textures and layers.. what do you do? haha
  19. Oh how lovely!!! May you guys have many years of happiness together
  20. Have to agree with this! Just take it slow ----- Also I started my girl in one half of the house (lino flooring) for a year and only just given her full house access because she has proved herself to know the house rules for months now. Take baby steps, don't jump into things Puppies love to chew, and if yours doesn't chew now... they can get into new habits as they grow!
  21. The dogs that got poisoned were barking constantly (imagine seriously how annoying that is) and the new neighbor just told the OP hers are barking "a lot" so something has to be done to rectify the problem! My dog is a german shepherd and she is kept in the whole house indoors only when we are at work 2 whole days a week I don't want to risk giving her outdoor access because of the potential for things to go wrong (her barking a lot and annoying people (she loves barking, whoohoo! haha), poisoning, digging out, jumping out, eating something she shouldn't etc) and I feel A LOT more comfortable being at work knowing she is indoors and safe My mum comes at lunchtime on those days to let her out for toilet and play with her a bit etc and to give her a nice shank or bone and then she leaves. Shylas known this routine since she was 8 weeks old
  22. I have a small sized female and she is 16 months old and seems to be sitting consistently on 26.5KG now for the last few months. I go by how she looks and feels though, at the moment I am very happy with her weight, she's lean and I can feel the last few ribs (not the first ones though) she has a thin layer of fat along the ribs and she just looks right to me I added more food recently because I didn't like how her hips were quite prominent. It's hard with the long coats too cos their hair hides a lot of their condition! So I brush her a lot and have a good feel to make sure she's sitting nicely If anyone thinks otherwise though let me know! Always up for suggestions
