  1. Kong toys with peanut butter in it. Frozen lamb flaps. Gives them a lot of chewing time. Squeaky toys, as annoying as they can be. Grooming time and some massages. Really calms dogs down. I would say some small simple forms of training... Like teaching her to 'watch', 'touch' and/or 'focus'. You could do 'wait' in front of her food bowl, etc. Hope that helps!
  2. Is there something like this is Vic? Would love to give it a go.
  3. Its very painful when mishaps happen. I had one of my dogs dropped off at 'my house' which happened to be a house down the road instead... Council picked up my dog from the neighbours yard, cost $70 to get her out that day!! And then I got a $231 fine in the mail...
  4. I like to have play dates with my dogs. Although with 3 Pointers they do all run around and play together during the day, I still think it is good for them to get out once every month to Kepala and play with the dogs that go to the mets, and play with friends/family members dogs. I put it down to a happy and healthy dog mentally and physically.
  5. Puppy from a registered breeder with the ANKC, not listed on dol. Being on Dol hasn't changed whether I want pedigree or rescue. But has made me stop and tel family/friends not to buy from pet shops.
  6. Thanks LC. She is a waterbaby. You can't get her out.
  7. That is something I will have to keep in mind! It would be a great place to walk!
  8. Thanks smoothiegirl. I'd love to come watch the herding. Your Bronte has a busy life!
  9. They sound like lovely walks sticks. Having my 3 idiots we don't get time to take in the scenery until they are a bit more.. tired. I have taken them to Hanging Rock, which was lovely. By the time we were up the top of HR, they were, not so energetic, so the OH and I could could actually sit down, and look around. See the beautiful view from the top. It was a beautiful walk. Think we might have to do another Hanging Rock walk soon.
  10. I hope he is found safe and well soon! Keeping yourself and him in all our thoughts down here.
  11. The Brighton dog beach sounds good! I would love to take my guys there, but I'm in Sunbury... So its a bit of a drive. :D Wish we could see You and your gorgeous GSD at Kepala again! She is just stunning! Hey Jules, if your looking for something relaxing. Come to Kepala. I'm trying to find more things to do with my guys. I have one starting Obedience on Saturday.
  12. You can walk six labs at once? ;) I could walk 12 Labs at once if they were walked regularly and had learned the rules from early days. But 12 would probably have caused worse road burns than six . I might have to put on a few kilos to do it :p . Even a dog that is good on lead tends to forget the rules when another dog comes trotting up, at least with my relaxed training regime. I thought walking 3 Pointers was hard enough!
  13. Sorry, I will be no help. But I would love to suggest Kepala once a month with fellow Dolers. We have a meet this Sunday if you are interested.
  14. I'm wondering what fellow Melbourne dolers like to do with their dogs? A relaxing time for owners and dogs basically. For example, I take my dogs to Kepala almost monthly with the Dol meets. We also go to cafes (I tend to take one at a time). We also go to the beach when its nice weather. I used to take one of my girls to the CBD by train also. What interesting things do you all do?
  15. A number of breeders won't sell litter mates to the same house hold. I agree with Macka, either get a puppy and train it to your standard then get another pup... Or look into a well manner older dog and a pup too. If you look through the mature dog listings, some breeders will have retired dogs looking for a loving home for their beloved babies.
  16. This is like living at my house. My two Pointers can be around my rabbits, unless one goes zooming by - then the rabbit would have no chance. These two will say 'good morning' to the rabbits (give them a big sniff through the cage) and walk off. One was brought up with the rabbits, the other just knows that the rabbits are part of the family IF they are in the cages. My GSP tries to eat the cage to get to the rabbits. He runs around the cage barking and you have no control over him. This boy hadn't seen a rabbit until he came here (at 10 months old).
  17. Clicking Mad, Which beach is that?
  18. Pointees I shall have to get my camera out and capture his beauty more often. I'm afraid I don't have any new ones of him at the moment. He is such a beautiful dog. There needs to be more solids around! They are so lovely There do need to be more around, but I guess because they don't do to well in the ring, they aren't going to breed too often. I would personally love a solid orange or solid liver.
  19. Sorry, I'm not much help. He is beautiful! When do we get to see some more photos in the Pointee thread?
