I don't use the feeding recommenations... It says mine should be getting: Shaun: 90 grams (0.8 of a cup), Pointer girls: 155 - 305 grams (1.1 - 2.2 cups), Kaiser: 305 - 515 grams (2.2 - 3.6 cups).. Shaun would be fat, April (Pointer girl) would be dead, she would have died because she would have been beyond emaciated... Alexis (other Pointer girl) would be fat, and Kaiser would be on the skinny side, unless I got to work for over 5 hours, or sleep at my boyfriends then he stresses and drops the wight.. Painful With that said, all my dogs have different temperaments... Shaun is a cough potato, but loves to go for walks, and will easily do an hour walk, but then will go to sleep on the couch. April runs around like a headless chicken, all day! She gets walked once a week, fed Advance active in the morning, and in the evenings gets Advance active and eco pet, along with oil and some yoghurt... April has run tracks through the grass in my backyard. Alexis will run aorund on our walks, but will give up about the time Shaun does, and will lie down... She will sunbake at home, unless its cold and raining then she will be inside on her bed or in her kennel outside. Kaiser is happy to do the same as Alexis, unless April is outside, then he will follow her.. I got to the stage last week (mind you I have had Kaiser a month now) where I couldn't keep up with whole got fed what and how much that I had to make a routine chart.. If they look skinny they get fed more then the chart says, if they are fat they get fed less. It works well!

Earlier on it says "in the pen" so to me it sounds like they gave a run set up... Its amazing to hear the stories of peopel saving their pets, or even newborns. I'd hope I could manage it on my animals, if I'm not in tears and on the floor myself.

I think your dog looks fine. Its great to see a lab/GR of healthy weight. There is a lady who lives near me.. God... She owns a Lab, a GSP and (in the last month) a Cocker Spaniel.. Well, all three dogs are HUGE! The poor things don't run around, they waddle next to her..

My vet, I always tell her to be completely honest, and have been using her for a good 2 years now.. Said my lab cross is over weight, but then she felt him, and said he isn't fat, he's a very stocky dog. Every time I go in, I say "Look, you know April, she's always skinny.. She never stops moving" and her response to that is, "my Whippet is the exact same" She knows all my dogs, and knows the weight on the others, so she knows April isn't getting neglected, Aprils just an idiot.

Apparently so, I can't find it anywhere and the girl at Pet Stock said they have stopped making it. There are millions of Kyzer / Kaiser / Kyza's Must just sound awesome Probably does! :D My boy came with his name, I spoke to his old owners about it when they dropped him off.. They named him "Kaiser" because it means King in German, and he is a German Shorthaired Pointer. Sounded logical to me! Not that he even knew his name when he came to me.

Kyzer loves Pedigree when he gets to eat it at my brother's house, it's like McDonalds for him Junk food. He's quite fussy, never been a big eater. I've fed him heaps of brands of kibble and he had good condition on all of them but never scoffed any, prefers it with some mackerel (available in tins from Woolies for cheap) or yoghurt mixed through. He's never been a fan of Sardines, not sure why. He did like the Advance Turkey and Rice though. I've got him on Pro Plan selects at the moment but they stopped making it Next up is Nutro. I feed him chicken wings and frames too, he loves those. They stopped making Pro Plan Selects? I have a Kaiser too! Although, mine is a GSP.

We purchased a GSD girl in 2002, as a family. They opened her up to find she was already desexed. If its a healthy dog, then why not? Its better then having more dogs end up in pounds.

That is an AWESOME shot rottnbullies! Well, heres my outside photo. Poor little Shaun got taken out into the water and but down so he had to swim back. OH walked next to him incase the little man got tired. It was Shauns first time at the beach. Second is a man and his girlfriends dog.

I quite like the one my little dog was on Purina One (can be purchased from Safeway)s but because I purchase Advance weight management I don't need to purchase Purina One weight management too. That could be an option for you also?

Same here Erny! i took 2 of mine out Sunday, it was 28 and sunny. But we went to the beach for a good 2 or 3 hours. Aircon to and from the beach, stinky car on the way home. Damn wet dogs and seaweed. :D Don't worry too much about it, from the sounds of it, your dog is fine. Its just a risk no one tends to want to take for their dogs or themselves. Luckily this summer hasn't been has bad as others, we've had more rain and storms. But it makes me wonder how Winter will be?!?!

My doggies get walked late evening, 8pm sort of time. We walk around the streets and they get about a 10 minute off lead time. Cooler days they get about an hour off lead time, with games of fetch and some training. On hot days like these, my doggies go outside at about 5am, come back inside about 7am, 2 go into their crates, the other 2 walk around the house. They have water at all times, with ice blocks.. At lunch time they go outside for an hour or so, thats when I give them fresh cool water and more ice blocks, they tend to sleep through until their evening walk then. Half the time, all 4 will have free run of the house with me... They just curl up on my double bed and sleep. Thank you aircon! Two only get crated when the 10 month old GSP (still learning the house rules as I have only had him just over a month) wants to run around, so the oldest goes into the crate to keep him company. :D Edited for badddd spelling.

I'm taking 2 out of 3 of my dogs to the Melbourne Dol meet! Goodbye boyfriend, only for the day. Oh you are so brave! I think when I told my OH I was going to a DOL meet it was all he could do not to :D Can't imagine what it would take to get him to come with me! Same here... I don't think my boyfriend would be caught dead at one... But he's happy t do things with just me and the dogs.

I'll be learning all I can first. Apparently, its meant to get a dog to eat after a few weeks, and that is what I need...

Have you tried mixing different things into your pups food? Like yoghurt, egg, etc. My April gets her dry food every morning.. Every second morning she gets egg, oil and milk mixed into it, every other day she gets yoghurt and oil mixed into it... The oil is for weight gain though, so you may not need/want to add it. She seems to like it, and she gets her plain eco pet at night.

From the sounds of what was said in the first few posts... A gun dog would be out of the question... No offence, as much as I love them, they don't sound right for this situation IMHO

I have a Commador wagon... Not sure on model, but its fairly new, maybe 2007 or 2008. It easily fits my 3 Pointers in the back... I have the cage set up so no Pointers can jump onto the back seat, or give me kisses while driving. ;)
