  1. Sorry Hedds. What a beautiful poem. You will never forget your beautiful girl who obviously touched so many.
  2. Oh SP My heart sank when I saw the title... RIP ratty boys you couldn't have asked for a better Mum.
  3. Sorry Ishy RIP Zac. You didn't do anything wrong, the doggie guardian angels needed him sooner.
  4. Water bowl is washed if it grows algae. Dog bowls are cleaned if they leave scrap that are stuck or if there are ants.. other than that no need cos they clean the bowls themselves.
  5. We went back to the vet last night. She's still stumped as to what caused it. The scaly bits are all gone but she still has the rings on the edges of her hips. She's on another course of antbiotics to see if that gets rid of the last bit of rash... then we just wait to see if it returns.
  6. Asked mum about it, she said that it'd been removed the week before she noticed the rash...
  7. Its not a fungal infection. It was tested on wednesday night while we waited. In the 10hours since I saw her last, its improved immensely... I think it'll be put down to one of those freaks of nature
  8. No it is not itchy. The vet has her on antibiotics just in case theres an underlying infection somwhere which is causing a rash... so far though it hasn't changed at all in fact it seems to be a bit worse. If it doesn't clear up by the next vet visit, I'm getting more tests done.
  9. Its definitely a rash, its scaley and rough and looks really painful but it's not. No new plants or anything in the past month, nothing unusual. *could* be wandering dew, her brother had a reaction to it 8 years ago when we had him.. but she's been around it her whole life and not had a problem before? Bedding is also the same as it's always been. Washed in the same detergent as always.
  10. Two, nearly three months ago i noticed a tiny little rash on my dog. It disappeared... Until this weekend, when I came home from Brissie.. mum suggested we go to the vets. The rash is RED raw and inflamed. There is no infection, no mites no nuffin!!! She doesn't bite it or scratch it. Shes loosing hair and it looks so painful but it's not really. She's on antibiotics for a week then we go back to the vets. They're really stumped cos its really bad. The pics don't do it justice. She's 10yo hungarian vizsla, same diet as always same everything!! You can see it when shes just walking normally now like in this pic. Any ideas?
  11. My girl does it when she's itchy or after a bath. We're off to the vet this week for some allergy shots./
  12. I'm sorry MSJ It's such a hard time when things like this happen. When you first start to wonder "Should I, is there something that's telling me it's time" then you should... Dad had thought that for a while.. but held off saying anything to us. As a result. our beautiful dog went in pain. She had a stroke the day we were going to make the decision, and she lots all feeling in her back end. Had we made the decision earlier we wouldn't have had to watch our darling girl suffer while we waited for the vet. I feel it is better to do it while the dog is still happy and enjoying life, because you will only have good memories of her, not with bad memories of her going downhill.
  13. Another typing through tears here. What a truly special girl she was. She'll be forever missed but forever in your heart.
  14. So sorry Mel. Thinking of you and your boy. Love you.
  15. Sorry Julie Anne Fido, sorry about your Pip too Them little featherbutts weasel their way in dont they!
  16. Yeah she has to have the rice and chicken, but she hates it because it's boring.. which is why i thought a tiny sprinkle of liver might make her eat it. I'll try the chicken stock with the lot I have on the stove now!
  17. Do you reckon I could put some liver sprinkles on her rice and chicken to encourage her to eat, or would that be too rich??
  18. Well she's not sure what it is, so she's had a shot of anti inflamatories and an antibiotic. She's not constipated though. If she's not eating by tomorrow night we have to think about getting blood tests done as its a worry that she hasn't eaten.
  19. We're off to the vet in half an hour. She ate a tiny bit a little while ago, but mum took one look at her when she got home and said we were taking her in so we're going :D
  20. We gave her some olive oil. She might have done one poop, but it looks too big too be hers. I called her to come out of the kennel and she didn't want to get out. Also when she stood her back legs were kind of splayed to the side... I thought her stomach felt kind of hard, yet when i pressed on it gently it didn't seem to hurt. I did this earlier and she started shaking a minute or so later but it didn't last for too long, she just asked to go outside and went back to bed... I think we should probably get her to the vet, she's just not right. She ate but she only had one or two bites, this is not like our garbage guts! Will let you know if I can talk Mum into going or not... they think its just constipation so we shuld just keep giving her oil until she feels better, but I don't think thats the right way to go... better to be safe than sorry, she could be hurting and not telling us.
  21. She was just outside playing ball with her usual gusto. Will feed her in the morning and see how she goes.
  22. Didn't seem to be. Will check again shortly once the food has settled a bit, cos she had a munch on a bit of food, but didn't gulp it like she normally dones.
  23. We think our lil girlie is constipated. There doesn't seem to be much of her poop around, and what poo there is it's quite rock solid. She left half her dinner yesterday and she left it all tonight... It's not like her. She will however eat the cat food but wouldn't touch it tonight even. We'll keep an eye on her, and if she doesn't eat dinner tomorrow we'll book her in to the vet
