dare I say it, the GSD people don't seem to think their breed is like a mine field. No doubt there are good and bad in the breed as there is in anything. My advice is to contact the GSD club in your state and find a breeder that you click with it. Cause there is more to a GSD then just how level their topline is. You need to see them in the flesh rather then stacked for the show ring. Look at what else they do for the dog, what health tests they do, how they support their puppy buyers etc.

how long before he comes home?

Happy Birthday Tess, enjoy your sleep in :D

and tell them to be careful with the clippers, he doesn't need another dose of razor rash! will be thinking of you both

and on this note as I am currently doing this; do not be afraid or a carrier x clear breeding. What this means for a puppy is it may be a carrier of a testable disease. It will have no impact on the health or well being of said pup. If a pet pup is a carrier it is no biggie as pet pups shouldn't be bred from. If a potential breeding pup is a carrier then yes, it is important to know your dog's status before breeding and the status of the dog it is being bred to. Carrier dogs are not affected but breed them to another carrier then you will get some affected pups and that is not fair to either pup or owner.

registration with council is for the new owners to attend to depending on when the ANKC breeder registers the pups , those papers may or may not be ready at 8 weeks. I usually don't microchip until 8 weeks. I can't register the pups without microchip numbers, pups often go home at 8 weeks. Papers won't be ready. The registration papers you get with a pup are also your transfer of ownership, the details are on the back. yes to getting a vaccination card and yes to getting any info if pup has needed anything other then vaccination. Vets check the pups out when giving vaccinations but I've never had one give a written report. I give copies of any health tests I've done microchip form, if back, is given to new owner to swap into their name, otherwise sent with rego papers. my next litter is getting done at 4 weeks so all paperwork should be back and ready to hand over when pups are ready to go to their new homes.

Yes I wold be inviting him back to see the work done. Cause lots of people say they will do something and never do, this is how repeat attacks happen.

I disagree, DOLer's are always advising people to report dogs that rush/bite. I would be doing all the above and as others have suggested but in no way would I be applying the slightest bit of pressure on this poor man. And just asking not to report is pressure. This is true, but in the majority of such cases, the dog owner is not taking responsibility and the sort of action that Wild is. Tough one. sorry but Wild is taking action that should never have been needed, it is a lesson we should all take heed off, don't allow your dog free access to the street.

Help! My Neighbour's Dog Killed My Husky :(
Rebanne replied to HuskyDrake's topic in General Dog Discussion
A person of small stature and not a lot of strength ..shocked/scared, and with two strong dogs in a serious fight ? I don't blame you, Huskydrake .If you were not 100% certain of how to separate fighting dogs .. you were risking your own self . and that's very true Perse for whatever size person but I wouldn't have been able to stop myself. -

I would be concerned on why this puppy only poo's at night. That is not normal. How are you toilet training him? Is he shy about going with an audience? Does he have a very soft temperament and have you growled at him for an accident or two? Is he holding on until he is in bed now? and I agree all those chews and things are way too many. My adult dogs do soft poo after one dentastick and it's the same colour!

had some outside for 2 or 3 years I think. No rust.

what exactly is the zipped tail part? Does anyone put another coat on top? Thinking this might be good for the greys but I always double coat them when out at night. No good if they only partly keep them warm -
I had to chase them for the biggest claim for Fern. They said I hadn't supplied something, fair enough, maybe I didn't and they closed the claim. Which meant I had to resubmit everything, bit of a pain. But they never told me! I was only told when I rang them to check on it and "oh sorry you should have been notified" Which I wasn't. As far as I could see what was resubmitted was the same as the first time.

Good on you for checking further and still ask all your questions particularly the health ones from all the breeders you contact. And just for others reading - not all breeders that advertise on gumtree or trading post are shonky. If the good guys don't advertise where the bad guys do then people will never have a chance to get a good quality dog.

Has Anyone Used One Of These Before
Rebanne replied to silentchild's topic in General Dog Discussion
they sure do -
Just did a quick look around - RSPCA, Medibank and PIA and all came in cheaper then PetPlan for the "12 Month Cover". I will have to read further but I think a couple had their limit ($11,000) set for each year or each diagnoses. So am thinking if you had an ongoing complaint you would be covered up to the $11,000 even if it was spread over more then 12 months. They all only paid 75 or 80% of the claim after taking the excess out though. I've been with Medibank before with no dramas and mainly switched to PetPlan for the acupuncture bit. Lots more reading to do. Renewal is not until mid August so I have plenty of time to research. Thanks for the heads up aliwake.

with a new puppy on the horizon I'll have to do some serious comparing and evaluating. My main worries are bloat or snake/spider bite so theoretically a one off event. I hate reading the small print
-
excess for me now is $100 and it will go up to $150 for a new dog and I assume the others when renewed. At least I think it is $100, maybe it is $125. Didn't bother me when I was claiming in the $1000's :)
-
I can't find how much the excess is Rebanne? How much is it now? excess now is $100, for the new cover it is $150 for the 3 stages of 4life cover and for the basic 12 month cover it was more then that and there was increased co payments if your dog was over 9. I didn't take much notice of the 12 month cover cause I was trying to see what the changes were for the type of cover I have now Excess was at the bottom of the tables after I pretended to want a quote.
-
for what level of cover? The 12 month only or the 4life one?
-
Put it in the "review" section if you don't want them to delete it. yeah, I couldn't see any normal comments on their wall, so I figured a review was the way to go :) I'm most annoyed that they couldn't even man up and tell me before they took money out of my account. so rude! Just as well you had the money to cover it, but I thought it would be illegal to not tell you prior.
