  1. why is that funny? cause you said all your breeder friends only needed their breed club and their DOL listing to sell their pups. So it makes it a bit harder for me when I don't have a breed club, nor a popular breed, or I too could be selling plenty of pups every year.
  2. What a load of rubbish. Next you'll say you should only breed when you have a full waiting list and some spares. Rubbish  Thanks for that, but typical posting from you I guess. I know many breeders who have quite a few bitches they breed regularly and have no problems finding homes for the pups. Breed clubs and dogzonline are all the advertising they need. I am sure they would use the trading post etc. if need be, but nobody I know needs to resort to that. My breed doesn't even have a breed club.
  3. I'm not sure if you are replying to me but in my experience the people who say you shouldn't advertise on places like Gumtree do usually follow it up with you shouldn't be breeding if you don't have plenty of homes lined up.

  5. depends on the breed of course. I only breed when I want a puppy. But nobody should be frowning on breeders who choose to have one or two litters a year and providing good quality pet puppies or show prospects to the public rather than only breeding every few years for a prospect for themselves. There are just not enough good quality breeders in my opinion. Nor puppies. Partly cause not everybody is breeding the popular breeds. If there is a shortage of cav's for instance, there is no way I am suddenly going to buy a couple and start breeding them. And nor should I as they are not my type of dog. But I have no problem with an ethical registered breeder, doing all the health testing their breed should have, supplying good quality pet pups. If I had the homes for my breed I might do the same.
  6. It's happening in the morning. The next dog might not be so lucky, poor Nova

  8. I'll advertise wherever there are potential buyers. I take no notice of others who say you shouldn't do that cause it just makes you as bad as them ( all the byb ). Someone said that just today on Face Book. When I got my second dog, way back when, you looked in the Age on a Saturday morning. I was looking for a German Shepherd and there were plenty to choose from. I got a purebred without papers, not sure why, but there were plenty of registered pups available.
  9. That's what I am looking forward to as well, but I am nearly there! Once my girl comes into season next (around March) she will be bred and hopefully have puppies :D Me too, leasing back a girl I bred, she is due in season end of Feb, so hopefully puppies, with a new one coming to live with me
  10. what surprises me is just how rude and condescending you and Jed are being. Well Jed doesn't surprise me but you do. When people are told they would be awful owners just because they work full time, then you can expect them to rise up. It was a blanket statement and you've taken it and run with it as well. Do you really think the objectors don't know what can happen if the dogs are neglected? Of course they do that's why they put the effort in to raise their pups well.
  11. 2 id's Jed? Sorry to say - that you are incorrect - again - with your assumption Rebanne ! I am sure that you have checked out my previous posts on this forum - as few as they are ! no I hadn't should I? where was I incorrect before?
  12. flame suit on but there was only one that appealed to me, a couple that left me cold, and the rest meh. I'm sure they are the right dogs for their owners but they are not right for me. So what I got out of that is, if I couldn't get the breed I want I wouldn't get a dog. Which surprised me a bit after owning them for over 30 years.
  13. Quite easy for me. If I couldn't get/breed a show bred greyhound I'd get a GAP one. I would not get a greyhound direct from a pound ever.
  14. My vet would be happy to write me a script. Just ask and see what they say, tell them you can get it for half the price.
  15. it's the save all at any cost mentality, the muzzle free laws can always be reversed but they wouldn't care.
  16. oh my why did I look, I am now suffering flashbacks from earlier photo's and video's
  17. No, as you well know, you are not allowed to tell me that for about 5 years  That works in well with my plans, will be having one around then as well. Got to plan in advance you know
  18. what a load of crock, glad they love their dog but the rest is just .................... Thank you those that would like a pup from me Should I tell you I am planning a litter next year?
  19. Thanks, you know what those cool, calm, collected Greys can be like :) I can picture it as well. He was indeed a lucky boy to have you m-j. R.I.P Boof
  20. Just caught up with this, so sorry Spoony, run free Chilli
  21. Jupiterlights while I admire your willingness to do everything right for your singleton, including taking on some orphan pups, I would be checking with your breeder about doing so. You said your bitch was on breeders terms, you need to be careful. If I was your breeder I would be less then impressed with some stray pups turning up which may impact on the health of a very precious singleton. Depending on what terms you have depends on who will be actually owning the pup. But I must admit I would also be doing a couple of other things different to what it appears your breeder is doing.
