  1. I've used ACE for dogs for car travel and IME it lasts for hours and that's a very small dose. That's all I can tell you. I think I'd be ringing the vet just for peace of mind.
  2. um, can people please stop quoting the photo's in each reply. Makes it hard for some people with limited bandwidth, on phones, etc. Thank you.
  3. I would think you are being incredibly rude. And would have no trouble telling you where to go.
  4. OMG, how about "put a leash on your dog so it doesn't cause a car crash" That would be worth reporting as a road safety issue Where I live is semi rural, there's a lot of retirees who are stuck in the old ways, like they lived on the farm, so lots of dogs off leash. Mostly well behaved, every now and then a dog runs in the road, with the odd sad accident. Now I've got the choice of hoping the old guy got the lesson or report him and maybe they take his dog. : ) : ) or maybe a life or two is saved from injury or worse. You are making excuses for these people yet jump all over others.
  5. Wonderful progress. To me this suggests she has a good baseline temperament and while she may never be as good as she could have been if she had been raised properly, you will most likely still end up with a good companion. Just take your time and as persephone said, be very careful which trainers you use.
  6. Green to me says snail bait or rat sack, could Treble have got into any of that? Or less dangerous things are green crayons or texta's.
  7. I am so very sorry this has happened Pers. R.I.P Mr Wilson, painfree.
  8. I am so sorry that you lost them both. The pain is bad enough when one goes, but two is just so cruel. Take time out to grieve as you want, be kind to your self. R.I.P two very special girls.
  9. Zoiboy there was no mention of "emergency" in the cut and paste you provided.
  10. Please do not yell and hit things - all that will do is upset the old girl. Keep the puppy away from her. Use baby gates, crates and leashes. Let the older dog toilet out in the front yard if safe. Do not expect them to be friends. Protect the old girl at all costs, she was there first and did not ask for a puppy to come into her home. All this and more I did with the last pup while my oldest dog was still alive. In fact I started protecting her from around 10 from the bigger dogs.
  11. can't really vote. I had GSD's for many, many years, now I have Greyhounds and that's where I'm staying. So only the two breeds over 30 odds years. And one medium size mutt, not likely to be repeated. ETA there was nothing wrong with Emma, loved her as much as any dog, but I prefer to have a better idea of size as I get older which is a bit  seeing as how I have a large breed.
  12. Tony Valli is indeed still judging, as recently as last weekend.
  13. The greyhounds are owned by Shantiah, I bred the white and blue fawn girl and the other two are half siblings, but they are also all cousins being out of full sisters :D
  14. My pups never go past 3 months on puppy food, after that it is all adult food, so any time now IMO.
  15. all my pedigreed dogs are chipped with their call name only. None with their full registered name which often has no direct connection with the call name cept for one. Really? Then if one of the dogs you had bred escapes or strays and the contact details on the microchip were not up to date there would be no chance at all of you being notified that it had been impounded and you would have no chance to rescue it and save it from a possible PTS. Not every pound or veterinary clinic contacts breed rescue or the state breed club when a purebred is running out of time, but some do, and that extra chance means that the breeder may have a say in where that dog of their breeding is placed next. Even if you just chipped your prefix followed by the call name it would serve the same purpose. I always knew that the prefix could be removed by a future owner, but personally I felt that using the prefix as part of the name when microchipping showed a willingness on the part of that breeder to be responsible for all their breeding if any fell through the cracks and ended up in the pound system. Perhaps it is just something that hasn't occcured to some breeders? Now you have me wondering how many ANKC breeders do not add their prefix to the chip details of their puppies? Owners change the details to what they want not what breeders want. I did ask them all to be put down as 2nd contact, which all did. But it could be anything by now. Just because their prefix is not part of their name does not mean I would not be willing to help, bit of an (wrong) assumption on your part. IME pounds wouldn't know how to track down a prefix or even recognise one. And in my breed they would be more puzzled by a lack of tattoo's then anything else.

  17. I'm glad we can't see it. It's her video and her page. If she wanted a bunch of strangers to look it would have been public. You might be well meaning but I would be furious if this was done to me.
  18. I drove up from Victoria for my greyhound to see these 2.
  19. Happy Birthday Maddie from me and the greys, don't think the cat wants to say anything :D
  20. sounds like you dodged a bullet there with Rommi. Hope the healing all goes smoothly :)
  21. I've had quite a few dogs and cats PTS over the years and never ever been given or offered a death certificate. Most I've ever got is a sympathy card from the vets office.
  22. yeah cause the hands on workers are just such greedy buggers who only care about the money. Saw this on FB and all the stupid idiots making out that people are killing just for the money. To me, who has been there and done that, no amount of extra money makes up for the stress you feel doing that shitful job. It's like danger money, a recognition of how that job is out of the ordinary. I'd have taken it if it was around at the time, would have helped pay for the extra Dr visits I made. But I wouldn't have helped kill just to get it and neither would 99% of people in that position.
