Deerhound Needing Rescue

The Melbourne Royal results site is saying third was the Norwegian Elkhound - Graabine Cruize To The Top. I am not there,so am going off what people are telling me, apologies for the error. many FB pages say it was the Irish Wolfhound, you can edit later if it was the Elkhound

No problem! :D

I don't think this would help. If the neighbour 'hears' the dog barking when it can't possibly be barking or isn't even at home then it sounds like mental health issues. I'd bet that if the dog was debarked, she would still complain about it barking. You're right, I took it that the dog was still barking alot, just not always when the neighbour was saying

Velcro collars rubbed some of my pups shoulders previously. Strangely enough only the particolours, not the dark brindles. I will use something else next time. They were good once the pups were about 4 weeks old.

I'd be seriously thinking of debarking.

even cats like company.

My thinking was that while she would still have to make huge adjustments they're one of the more relatively low maintenance breeds and there's lots in need. I'd really rather you not be so rude, I'm seeking advice on how best to manage a problem and after all she is still my friend. so there's a lot in need. Do they really need to go to someone who is never home? All dogs deserve good homes and 2nd best should never be considered. And I never quoted you directly, my words were aimed at all who said a greyhound would be a good choice.
-
FFS why are greyhounds always suggested for these type of morons? They are still dogs, they would still like to toilet regularly and they certainly deserve to have owners that would put them first.

Maybe read the whole story before being so judgemental.

what a lucky girl Roo has been to have you by her side, making all the right decisions for her, even the ultimate one. Bless

Actually it is not a strange concept to tend to the more dominant first. It's a theory I have read about over many years. It relates to upholding the natural pack order, keeping the balance. If the dogs have decided where their place is, after the human, then yes the higher dog gets things first. Dogs are usually happier knowing their place. It does not mean bullying is allowed. I've never had any two dogs at equal status. There has always been a leader, then ranked down to bottom dog. But I have always been the ultimate boss.

I would be very concerned that they weren't down by now. Did you speak to the breeder when you first found out they weren't down at 9 weeks? Has it been noted on his vet checks they weren't down?

A Question On Dementia In Your Older Pets
Rebanne replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
yes, me too. -
there is a disease in greyhounds, so far only acknowledged in show bred, and possibly only in show bred, that was very quickly found a test for. We were very lucky it was "easily" able to be tracked down. Carriers are still used in breeding programs.
-
Maybe they did but they turned out not to be the best for whatever reason. You wouldn't want them putting up bad pics. Just ask them to take pics of your dog, that's what I do.
-
maybe someone could start a new thread, this one has been really derailed
-
well done, would have been a strong class in the Cav's

My pups don't wear collars as a rule. I use a slip collar for show training, actually I use the nearest collar/lead I can find, which is usually a slip all in one. If out and about I use a martingale cause they are sighthounds.
