A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
Rebanne replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
get as many people as possible to go over Nala while outside the ring and give her a treat as they approach and finish. Even just set her up and have people approach and leave, walk past and around etc before touching her. Thank you, times like this I wish I was less shy! I think I'll take her to work with me, lots of people who all love dogs! We start the obedience club's puppy school soon, I think that will be a good chance to practice with people going over her too, more of a formal setting, Your work mates can do it. They don't need to do a full on exam, nor does Nala need to be stacked. Get her sitting and have people approach and leave, Nala doesn't get a treat unless she has four feet, and bum, on the floor. Then repeat while she is standing. Can do it during tea and lunch breaks. :D -

We bought him for shows. So it does matter if he's not the normal height/weight for an akita. So have you shown him? What has been the judges comments, other breeders?

Just do what the OP did, start a thread here in general, it usually gets seen. DD maybe change the title so that SLF notices it. There have been a few duplicate threads when warranted. -
Question About Film Make Up For A Dog!
Rebanne replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
put some dirt in a bucket, add water then rub the mud over her. -
Join the pen to the crate rather then put the crate inside, creates more room. This photo shows the bunnings panel attached to the crate, the white board was part of the whelping box and was my access to the pen to clean it up. You can also see a couple of panels leaning against the end of the crate. They replaced the white board and were pegged to the crate and made the door way.

Do you have life insurance? :D Why, are you planning on killing her  I don't know why, it's not like he's in the will

we are all here coloured by our own experiences. My experience say PTS. I would never amputate for osteosarcoma and the fact the leg has already broken is very bad news. After my experience with how quickly a dog can go downhill with this disease and having my dog suffer for a few hrs when the pain killers stopped working suddenly until I could get a vet here, I will always PTS within 48 hrs of diagnoses. I would rather put down early then ever, ever wait and risk my dog suffering. I couldn't live through that again. That is my experience. Good luck with your decision, it is not easy.

just a little crate story :D I have a 7 year old greyhound who is crate trained ( all my dogs are ). She has slept on my bed or the couch since a young dog. Recently she has had to have 6 weeks of enforced crate rest which she handled exceptionally well, to the point, now that the strict rest has eased off, that she is asking to get into the crate all the time. She really does love it! I am the one feeling neglected cause the crate is in my bedroom, Fern stands at the baby gate asking to be let in! Mind you crate training has not helped with the constant barking and carrying on she does at the vets if she has to stay there

Oh Dog! I thought this thread had died.

That would be fine for one dog for that time. I have a 3 x 4 dog yard with a double kennel in it and fence down the middle. So both sides are roughly 1.5 metres x 3 metres. Dogs are fine in there for close to 12 hrs while I work night shift.

A Hypothetical Question For Breeders

it's not disqualifying here though. But yes easier to be a fraction under. -
A Hypothetical Question For Breeders
Rebanne replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
well no, I don't agree. 13 - 15 means those heights and anything in between is perfectly acceptable. 14 inches means they want as close as possible to that height and they'll put down a dog who might only be 13 inches. That's my take anyway :) -

yes this is the sort of thing that going back in history may shed light on. -
