  1. Glad it's sorted Kahnazhu. I think Sway and I have something planned for the newbies so come and join in the fun :D
  2. My cheque was cleared on Friday so am now waiting for numbers to arrive. Best give the secretary a ring to check. What breed are you showing?
  3. I've entered there as well. Must check if mine has been banked. Perfectly fine to call and ask.
  4. Beautiful babies Piper, love them both, the red boy is so cute and the little girl has a lucky thumbprint on her forehead. :D
  5. What they hell thay are doing allowing with these superbugs to compromise the surgery is beyond me. Anyway, complaining won't help. The good should eventually outweigh the bad, at least I hope so. Puppy is home now, and not happy about it apparently. So, Ive planned a visit for the new year. yeah, bad vets allowing this to happen (need rolly eye man here) as if they did it on purpose (another rolly eye man). Super bugs are all over the place.
  6. that's only a week, maybe a tad long in the time to get to you, but if they had been posted earlier, in accordance with the rules, you still might have actually got them before the show. Posting on the Thursday before the show is way too late.
  7. because she doesn't want the other dog to sniff her that's why. She is uncomfortable with the other dogs approach and this is her way of saying so.
  8. I didn't feed puppy food to my bitch either. Just increased amounts of her regular food towards the end.
  9. I was at a show recently in SA where a person was bitten and I know the SA rep was notified and and the police were also called and spoke to people. I was told that in SA if you call for an ambulance, the police are also called. If bitten in someones backyard I think the hospital you are treated at is required to make a report, but it would be hard to prove unless there were independant witnesses.
  10. Mature to me is adult height and weight. If you go on behaviour alone, then yes some dogs are puppy like forever. :D I say my 17 month old male greyhound won't be fully mature until 3, or more likely 4, but that is his prime physique, for the show ring. No way he is a puppy now, he is a mature dog.
  11. 8 weeks with C3 and microchipped at the same time
  12. Dogs indeed can inherit their parents temperament, good or bad. As to which is easier to settle into a new home, that's like asking how long is a piece of string. Very much an individual thing based on both dog and people.
  13. As an anti-vivisectionist I find the whole suggestion extremely disturbing. Not discounting the fact, that dogs are sentient beings. Whether or not a Vet is 'chopping' neatly, the intimation that education proceeds through the indirect suffering of innocent and defenceless animals is simply astounding. and you don't think a bitch whelping under the house, struggling to birth a puppy alone is not suffering? Reality is that most pet owners would not see when a C-section is needed and the bitch will suffer and quite possibly die if she gets into trouble and that's while whelping under the house or in the house. And we are not talking about an accidental mating, the people owning the ACD x are planning to mate her.
  14. Where did Pav say she wanted the dog to have a terrible death? Dogs rarely die because of a c-section.
  15. It attacked two other dogs, there is an eye wittness account. No assumptions there.
  16. Who cares how the bloody dog got out. If you own a declared dog you have to make sure it can never ever be loose again. It attacked two dogs, which could have ended very very badly except for the fact the OP intervened. Dog needs to be PTS and owner fined massively. I couldn't care what breed it is. People are making stupid assunptions, oh we don't know why it was declared, maybe the poor thing sneezed. What rot. It's a declared dangerous dog, let the powers that be do their job and decide on the dogs fate. They will have all the info, not a bunch of zealots on an internet forum.
  17. Not that odd unfortunately donatella. I have collected 6 dogs from BP and 2 out of the 6 have had their microchips found on day of release prior to their new chips going in. Fantastic that the owners got a chance to reclaim their pets (and they both did :) ) but it's unsettling chips are being missed. Unsettling is a bit of an understatement . Why? Why? Cause it happens sometimes. I well remember a kelpie type dog we had come into the pound, scanned - no chip. 2 days later his owner turns up and goes ballistic at the staff for not ringing her cause the dog is chipped. I took her and the scanner out to the dog and spent 15 minutes running the scanner all over the dog before the scanner picked the chip up, right where it should be. Took scanner in and ran it over some chips in the office, never missed a beat. Bought scanner home and scanned my dogs no problems. Why that dog who knows, but when he came back a little while later, again the scanner did not pick up his chip but I knew who he was so was able to ring the owner to come get him - again. If it can happen to one dog at a small pound, why not more dogs at a bigger pound.
  18. well done hope it all comes together
  19. Just had the car cleaned for a wedding so on-heat dogs are banned until after that, otherwise I'd be there in a shot  put some blankets down, a wedding is one day, a season 3 weeks
  20. didn't you say you take the dogs to a friends farm for a run? No reason you couldn't take her on her own, put her on a long line.
  21. Report it. I think the 2 men in the car were looking for the dog and when they saw it in a fight were just going to keep going. They turned back once you had grabbed it.

    Crating A Puppy

No way I'd take any pup of mine to a doggie day care centre. I'd rather crate it all day! The OP is reading all this and thinking it all through and hopefully comes up with a solution that suits them andthe puppy's best interests. FFS it was just a suggestion. The OP will do whatever she chooses with her own freaking dog. I'm sorry I snapped at you, Rebanne. I was defensive after Donatella jumped on me. I know it's no excuse for crappy behaviour... I'm over-sensitive at the moment because I'm looking after my sister's Pug and he has been diagnosed with cancer. My sister is overseas and she has changed her mind about coming back for Christmas. And so I'm left to care for a dying Pug. Also, I can see what you mean about doggie day care. I imagine there would be lots of opportunities for negative experiences with other dogs and people. Potentially a nightmare! Didn't think of that :) Excuse me for hijacking your thread Aso. all's good with me, don't stress :)
